* ColbertBump: A few of the guest players, like LetsPlay/JoshJepson and LetsPlay/SuperJeenius get more popularity after appearing in a TRG Let's Play.
* CreatorBacklash: Chugga has admitted multiple times that he wasn't happy with how the Mario Party 3 project turned out.
* CreatorBreakdown: Around the time the [[VideoGame/MarioParty Mario Party 3]] playthrough was recorded, Jon broke up with his girlfriend, which contributed to his anger during that playthrough.
* FandomNod: During ''VideoGame/TheSubspaceEmissary'' LP, they make a nod to Chugga's {{Flanderized}} love of wearing polo shirts, which he even turns into a CargoShip moment. "STOP TRYING TO MAKE OUT WITH POLO SHIRTS!"[[note]]Chugga was allegedly making kissing motions at the TV, which he claims was in reaction to [[VideoGame/{{Mother3}} Lucas]] and [[{{VideoGame/Earthbound}} Ness]].[[/note]]
* MeanCharacterNiceActor: Chuggaa and Jon act like jerks with their TRG personas, but are very friendly in real life. Lampshaded in Part 4 of The Observatory in [[VideoGame/ItadakiStreet Fortune Street]] where Jon discusses it when a fan was surprised at how nice Jon was.
* MissingEpisode: Episode 13 of ''VideoGame/LittleBigPlanet 2'' was never uploaded because the recording got corrupted.
* NamesTheSame: A few tournament guests have had the same name as others. Most notably, [[WebVideo/IsItAGoodIdeaToMicrowaveThis Jon Paula]] for [[CaptainObvious Proton Jon.]]
** In the Smash 64 tournament, LetsPlay/AttackingTucans shares the same name as Tyler from LetsPlay/WiiRikeToPray.
* OldShame: The Guys don't seem to like remembering the first Thrown Controllers panel due to all the technical difficulties.
** They also don't really like how Mario Party 3 turned out in terms of their commentary. Jon remembers it as his least-favorite project thanks to aforementioned CreatorBreakdown.
** Nowadays, Jon regrets doing the Big the Cat impersonation and apologizes for doing so, to the point where he has completely forgotten how to do the voice a year later. He's surprised that [[EnsembleDarkHorse more people liked it than he would have thought, though.]]
* OneOfUs: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVwSxw4jNDM&t=13m43s "TV Tropes just kinda had a heart attack."]]
** Jon also directly references [[VideoGame/HeavyRain Press X]] [[HollerButton To Jason.]] And [[PressXToNotDie Press A to not die.]]
** And the fact that TV Tropes has labeled NCS as TheMedic and Josh as TheChick. It's pretty much confirmed by now that they've been reading this page.
** In VideoGame/DokaponKingdom, Chugga talks about how he spent hours on ThisVeryWiki when he should have been working on videos.
** In ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBros3'', Chugga wonders why the mascot for ThisVeryWiki isn't [[{{Franchise/Pokemon}} Tropius]] as opposed to a lampshade.
* ScheduleSlip:
** [[JustifiedTrope Justified]]. After Globe Trot, the ''Wii Party'' LP was suddenly stopped in favour of beginning ''[=LittleBigPlanet=]'', leading to a lot of people thinking that ''Wii Party'' had just been filler. As it turned out, it ''was'' its own Let's Play, and resumed after ''[=LittleBigPlanet=]'' ended.
** Happened to Yoshi's Tropical Island (''Mario Party 1'') due to their hotel's unstable internet connection.
** Jon has revealed that a ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' tournament was recorded at a convention in 2014, but the audio was lost and the Guys are still trying to reconstruct it from secondary recordings.
** After the second round of VideoGame/DokaponKingdom, the next project was delayed due to multiple conventions such as ConBravo and Nerd HQ being so close together. Then Chugga got sick for three weeks after the two conventions causing another delay.
** ''Dokapon Kingdom'' went on a year long hiatus after Episode 53 was unloaded. Apparently because all the audio for the next session was lost.
* ViralMarketing: [[https://youtu.be/-4IBW6ETPbo?t=2663 According to Jon]] in a [[WebVideo/{{Retsupurae}} Retsutalk]] video, Nintendo actually contacted the guys to get them to promote VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBros2, and even gave them prizes to give out.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Several channel names were considered: Splitscreen Shenanigans, Loud Players, Let's Play Crossover, and Press Start to LP. Then it's placed into humorous proportions as Chugga says:
---> '''Chugga:''' I got it! 'Press L to P!'
---> '''Jon:''' (tries to say something, then sighs) I hate you so much.
*** According to Jon in episode 12 of ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', another name idea was "Shark Uppercut", which was literally something random Jon just thought up out of nowhere.
*** Variation in that it came after the fact: Chugga said he would have seriously pushed for Chain Attack as a channel name, had ''VideoGame/{{Xenoblade}}'' been released when they made the channel, due to there being three of them.
** There was going to be a tenth player in the ''Mario Power Tennis'' tournament, but they dropped out.
** They were going to have a guest player for ''Kirby's Return to Dream Land'', but they couldn't make it because of a scheduling snafu. It's implied by a comment of Chugga's that the guest player was going to be LetsPlay/JoshJepson.
** According to Jon's Formspring, LP#7 was planned to be ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaFourSwordsAdventures'', but because Josh, Tim, [=SuperJeenius=], and Pcull44444 were playing that game at the time, they decided to hold off on it until later. It became their ''twenty-second'' one instead.
** In his solo channel, Chugga said there was planned to be a ''VideoGame/KirbysEpicYarn'' LP. However, they called it off because they thought the game doesn't work well with two people. (and [[VideogameCrueltyPotential because they couldn't kill eachother]]) Later, Chugga LP'ed it himself, though he did make one multiplayer video featuring Jon.
** Jon suggested that Chugga should switch to Daisy in MarioParty, since Donkey Kong isn't playable after Mario Party 4. Instead, Chugga [[{{Foreshadowing}} foreshadowed]] that he'd be using Toad come Mario Party 5. However, after the Mario Party 6 livestream, he decided on using Daisy.
** On one of Proton Jon's Fortune Cookie nights (specifically "Countdown to Next Con Edition"), Jon mentioned he pitched ''VideoGame/CastlevaniaHarmonyOfDespair'' for the channel, as the PS3 version has Local Multiplayer. It was turned down due to the awkwardness of the mode.
