* OneBookAuthor: Jodie Draigie (Morgan), Robin Meloy (Jeanie) and Ellen Dorsher (Stevie) only did this one film.
* AuthorPhobia: The clown motifs and imagery come from director Mark Rosman's own fear of clowns.
* CreatorBacklash: Mark Rosman disliked the marketing campaign, feeling that the poster made the film look like softcore porn.
* TheDanza: Kate [=McNeil=] plays Katherine.
* EnforcedMethodActing: The lead actresses all lived together during the shoot to build up camaraderie of sorority sisters.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** The opening was shot in black and white. The distributors had it tinted blue, feeling audiences wouldn't sit through black and white.
** Mark Rosman really wanted to have [[spoiler: Katherine killed off too, wanting to subvert the FinalGirl trope]]. Distributors however insisted that [[spoiler: she had to live]].
* NoBudget: Made for about $300,000.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Diane became the third victim because filmmakers felt she looked too similar to Vicki.
* SameLanguageDub: Lois Kelso Kent who plays Mrs Slater, was dubbed by Barbara Harris, because Lois's voice was considered not scary enough.
* ThrowItIn: The boy who gets stabbed through the throat after witnessing the killer coming out of the pool. He was working at a make-up effects house and a life mask had already been made of him - so Mark Rosman cast him as a frat boy and added the death scene to make the film gorier.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Kate [=McNeil=] was a last minute replacement for an actress who dropped out of the part of Katherine, because she didn't want to jeopardise her SAG status.
** Only [[spoiler: Morgan, Liz and Vicki's]] deaths were going to be explicit. Mark Rosman later decided to make the rest of the deaths gorier in order to make the movie more appealing to a distributor.
** Two alternate endings were shot. The first would [[spoiler: reveal Katherine's body in the pool with the rest. The second would have had her in hospital, being pushed in a wheelchair. The film would end as it was revealed that Eric was pushing her]].
** Mark Rosman considered making a sequel, but couldn't come up with a good enough idea.
* WordOfGod: It was a fan theory for years that Morgan had very few lines because her actress wasn't good. The director Jossed that, saying Morgan was written to be TheQuietOne.
* WorkingTitle: The original title was ''Screamer''.
* WriteWhatYouKnow: The director based part of the movie on his own college experiences.
