* ExecutiveMeddling: The U.S. theatrical release, in addition to being retitled by the producer, suffered a good many edits. Twenty minutes of footage were cut, all of the actors were redubbed with American accents, and a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OPvFqh-Oe8 goofy animated prologue]] was added to the beginning. Creator/RomanPolanski disowned this version, and it has never been released on DVD.
* MultipleLanguagesSameVoiceActor: Creator/RomanPolanski dubbed his own character in the French dub.
* RealLifeWritesTheHairstyle: Creator/SharonTate, famous for her blonde hair, wears a red wig because Creator/RomanPolanski was favoring redhead actress Creator/JillStJohn. Producer Martin Ransohoff had Tate under contract and pushed for her to be cast, and the character being red-haired was the only condition for her to play the role.
* RomanceOnTheSet: Creator/RomanPolanski fell in love with Creator/SharonTate during filming and they were married soon afterward.
* TroubledProduction: Creator/RomanPolanski talks about production difficulties in his autobiography:
-->Our first month's outdoor filming became a series of ingenious improvisations, mainly because the last-minute switch from one location (Austria) to another (Urtijëi, an Italian ski resort in the Dolomites) had left us so little time to revise our shooting schedules. The fact that we were filming in Italy entailed the employment of a certain number of Italian technicians and that, in turn bred some international friction. Gene Gutowski (the film's European producer) rightly suspected that the Italians were robbing us blind.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Creator/RomanPolanski originally planned to cast Creator/JillStJohn as Sarah, but went with Creator/SharonTate instead at the urging of producer Martin Ransohoff.
* {{Working Title}}s: ''The Vampire Killers'' and ''Your Teeth in My Neck''.
