!![[Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan The 2012 Film]]
* CreatorBacklash: Creator/SallyField [[http://www.vulture.com/2016/03/sally-field-spider-man.html loathes the movie and sequel]]; she only took the part as a final favor to her friend Laura Ziskin, who helped produce the movie and died of breast cancer after the film finishing shooting. The only good thing she had to say about the movie was that she liked working with Creator/AndrewGarfield.
* DawsonCasting:
** 29-year-old Creator/AndrewGarfield and 24-year-old Creator/EmmaStone as the teenaged Peter and Gwen.
** Like Creator/TobeyMaguire, Andrew Garfield played a teenager despite being in his late twenties. In fact, Maguire first played him at 27 and Garfield was '''29''', so he's actually ''older'' than he was, even though this Peter actually spends almost all of the movie as a high-school student, not just the first act. It seems to work, though, as Garfield [[OlderThanTheyLook certainly doesn't look that old]].
** Same applies to Max Charles, the kid who plays Young Peter. He's nine years old, but Peter in the beginning is five years old.
* DeletedRole: One of the girls in the deleted scene of the Lizard entering the high school through the bathroom stall is played by Creator/ZoeyDeutch.
* DeletedScene:
** An extended scene of Peter storming off into the night and trying to buy the bottle of milk from the store. After the thief robs the store and gives Peter his milk, the store clerk yells at Peter for not stopping him. Instead of Peter then stumbling across Uncle Ben's body in the street, he then rests at the bottom of the railroad checking his phone calls from Ben, hearing his fatal gunshot being fired miles away.
** While walking down the alleyway, an old man was laying in the ground which Peter ran across revealing to Uncle Ben, skulking on his dead body. This led to an extended scene of Aunt May and Peter upset on Uncle Ben's death and more on the suspected killer.
** Dr. Connors appears at Peter’s doorstep and offers his sympathy after the death of Uncle Ben. During his conversation with Peter, Connor asks to take the time to look at his three-legged lab mouse, in which he’s grow another leg, thanks to Connors’ serum.
** Peter was going to visit Gwen for dinner when he was stopped by a doorman and telling if he was dropping off or picking up which then lead to him wanting whats in the bag, Peter rejects his permission which then lets not take access to the apartment.
** Connors goes through a secret metal gate, Peter, then follows him around a corner of the building higher up to see which then leads up to finding out his secret hiding spot in the sewer.
** Ratha ‘hacks’ his way into the Oscorp’s network, locating Connors on sewer in a GPS which then gave access to his videoblogs.
** Peter and Gwen kissing on top of a clock tower building.
** The Lizard showing his humanity even as he scales up the evil inside. Having Connors shown to be having a split personality and letting the Lizard take over.
** Connors having a moment of his son Billy and explaining to him that he’s going away for a while.
** The Lizard makes his way to Midtown Science High School through a toilet stall and terrorizes two girls in the bathroom, sticking his tongue out near their faces, before leaving as they scream.
** Peter searches the campus for Connors finding scratches on the wall and inspects Connors asking him to help him.
** Peter follows Connors in his lair and talk about how change something so that everyone would be equal, Connors then injects another dose of the Lizard serum before growling, hissing and turning his now-yellow eyes towards a frightened Peter. Ratha arrived and shoot bullets into former employees with a gun, spraying sedative into Peter’s face. Ratha talks to Peter about his father and how his wildest dreams had come true as much as now Peter then get up with the help with Ratha but not as long as the Lizard moves Peter and chokes Ratha and swallow his head whole.
** A RunningGag about Peter buying eggs, which had gotten Aunt May breaking eggs into a bowl, after talking about responsibility with Peter.
** In multiple deleted scenes, Peter was skateboarding in front of his school which he then failed a trick and hurting himself while the other teenagers laugh at him, Peter skates a busy street in Manhattan, and Peter skateboarding in the streets when suddenly a car went by him which then triggers his spider-sense resulting him to land a land-post.
* DiedDuringProduction: This was the last ''Spider-Man'' film to be produced by Laura Ziskin before her death from breast cancer in 2011.
* FakeNationality:
** Averted with Creator/RhysIfans as Dr. Connors, as the character's thick accent indicates he's really British (although this is also a minor example in that he uses a more generic English accent rather than his own Welsh one).
** Subverted with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker[=/=]Spider-Man, given that he is British-American and was born in California but grew up in Surrey, England and subsequently has an English accent.
* FollowTheLeader: The film serves as an attempt at a more grounded and serious version of the character's mythos in a similar vein to what Creator/ChristopherNolan did with his Batman films starting with ''Film/BatmanBegins''.
* MilestoneCelebration: It came out in 2012, Spidey's 50th anniversary (he first appeared in ''Amazing Fantasy'' #15 in August 1962) and the tenth anniversary of the [[Film/SpiderMan1 first Sam Raimi film]] (which came out May 3, 2002).
* OlderThanTheyThink: Many fans were vocally upset that Uncle Ben never says "With great power comes great responsibility." In truth, the ''only'' place Uncle Ben said those exact words was [[Film/SpiderMan1 the 2002 film]]; in the original comics, those lines were part of the ending narration.
* PosthumousCredit: Despite succumbing to breast cancer in 2011, Laura Ziskin is still credited as a producer for the film.
* RoleReprise: The Brazilian dub brings back Eduardo Borgeth as Dr. Connors, whom he'd previously voiced in the ''Film/SpiderManTrilogy''.
* RomanceOnTheSet: Between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, although they have since broken up.
* SparedByTheCut: Dr. Ratha was attacked by the Lizard. However, the scene doesn't fit into the final continuity of the film.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: [[WhatCouldHaveBeen/SpiderMan See here]]
* WordOfGod: The first thing Spider-Man shoots a web at and subsequently proceeds to swing from just so happens to be a helicopter as a nod to the incident in the comics where Spidey swings past the Empire State building on an off-panel web. It is explained in the letters section of a later issue that there just so happened to be a helicopter passing by at that moment.
* YouLookFamiliar:
** Creator/MichaelPapajohn portrayed carjacker Dennis Carradine, the man indirectly responsible for Uncle Ben's death, in Sam Raimi's 2002 ''[[Film/SpiderMan1 Spider-Man]]''. He actually asked to reprise said role, but he had an uncredited cameo as Dr. Ratha's driver, Alfie.
** The film's Latin American Spanish dub sees the return of Creator/RaulAnaya, who voiced Flint Marko/Sandman in ''Film/SpiderMan3'', as Richard Parker.
*** A minor example, but Creator/RicardoTejedo voiced a news presenter, having previously appeared in ''Film/SpiderMan2'' as John Jameson.

!![[VideoGame/TheAmazingSpiderMan The Tie-In Game for the 2012 Film]]
* FollowTheLeader: Beenox outright stated they looked to the ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamSeries'' as inspiration for the combat in this game.
* MilestoneCelebration: 2012 marks the fiftieth anniversary of Spider-Man's first appearance. To commemorate this, co-creator Stan Lee is playable in a side mission, and completing unlocks an EasterEgg that honours the occasion; and playing the game in August unlocks [[spoiler:the ability to add a "Happy 50th Birthday!" party hat to whichever costume is selected]]. The Xtreme host even makes fun of this, questioning if Spidey thought he would be around for 50 years.
* RoleReprise: Andrew Chaikin, who had previously voiced Spider-Man in ''Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem'', reprises his role in the [=iOS=] version.
