* ''Super Dimension Century Orguss'' is noteworthy in that it apparently inspired the "resolution" to the DC comics multiverse, as depicted in ''ComicBook/CrisisOnInfiniteEarths''. The conflict in both Orguss and the DC Crisis was driven by the instability of TheMultiverse -- DC by inter-universal conflicts, Orguss by the inherent dangers of a PatchworkWorld. Both were resolved by not only erasing the world as its inhabitants know it, but also erasing all knowledge of the cataclysmic world.
* GeniusBonus: Someone who has taken a Japanese course in the United States will recognize the American-accented Japanese used in the opening and closing songs.
* IncestuousCasting: In the short-lived English dub, Kei, Hardy, and Mimsy were voiced by siblings Tom, Jonathan, and Creator/MelissaFahn, respectively. Additionally, Tom's wife, Creator/DorothyEliasFahn, voiced Shaya.
* NoExportForYou: The original series, but not ''Orguss 02'', in the UK. It got released Stateside, however, but apparently only the first 17 episodes until Discotek got the rights to it.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Carl Macek had originally intended ''Anime/SuperDimensionCenturyOrguss'' on being the second ''Robotech'' series (and ''Southern Cross'' as the third), since it was the second in the the "Super Dimension Trilogy" that started with ''Super Dimension Fortress Macross'' and ended with ''Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross''. All three shows were un-related in story, but all were from the same studio, and shared many production team members and story concepts. When he couldn't secure the license to ''Orguss'', ''Southern Cross'' was moved up to being the second series, and Tatsunoko's ''Anime/GenesisClimberMospeada'' was chosen for the third. Ironically enough this saved ''Orguss'' from the infamous legal struggles that the other two "Super Dimension Trilogy" entries were hit with, meaning it is also the easiest to obtain legally.
