!!Show
* TheCastShowoff: Creator/MichaelCHall and Lauren Ambrose are both fantastic classically trained singers and got to show their skills during various Imagine Spots and in David's choir arc.
* DawsonCasting: Creator/LaurenAmbrose was 22 when she started playing 17-year-old Claire.
* ExecutiveMeddling: An oddly positive example: During the making of the pilot, the Creator/HBO executives commented that the show felt "too safe" and asked Alan Ball (the writer) if he could make it even more fucked up. He gladly complied, after he "picked his jaw off the floor".
* FakeAmerican: Australian Creator/RachelGriffiths as Brenda.
* FakeRussian: Ruth's Russian employer/boyfriend Nikolai was played by Ed O'Ross (real last name: Orosz), a Pittsburgh, PA native of Czechoslovakian descent.
* PlayingAgainstType: Michelle Tractenberg, the most adorable of 90s Hollywood's adorable moppets (Inspector Gadget, Harriet the Spy, Buffy etc) here plays monumentally self-involved pop princess diva Celeste, presaging her eventual role as "Gossip Girl".

!!Band
* ApprovalOfGod: Alex Webster stated in 2021 that he was really happy to see his other former bandmate Jack Owen reunite with Chris in Six Feet Under, even stating that he enjoyed what he heard from Nightmares of the Decomposed despite its general panning from fans and finding it cool that they were playing together again.
* PromotedFanboy: Rob Arnold was a fan of the band before he joined, as well as Chris's previous band Cannibal Corpse, even considering The Bleeding one of his favorite albums. He would go on to state that playing on Undead was a dream come true for him, and he still remains on good terms with the group today - it helps that his former bandmate Mark Hunter is good friends with Barnes.
* SimilarlyNamedWorks: The band not only shares their name with the popular TV show above, but also a hit song by Billie Ellish. Chris has even jokingly thanked the song's search results for helping more people discover the band's music.
