!!Trivia tropes

* BadExportForYou: The European release of ''Advent'' removed the English voice acting almost entirely, while in the American version, the voices cannot be turned off at all.
* FanTranslation: ''ZX'' received a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4DSU09hb-0 fanmade English dub]] in January 2023, which installs to the ''Zero/ZX Legacy Collection''. As an EasterEgg, it also gives an English voice to [[VideoGame/MegaManZero3 Omega and Childre Inarabbita]].
* TheOtherDarrin: Creator/KenjiNojima replaces Creator/SanaeKobayashi as Vent in ''Advent'', [[TimeshiftedActor since he is grown up by then]].
* SeriesHiatus: No new titles in the ''ZX'' series have been released since ''Advent'', which was initially released back in 2007. The most the series has received since was the ''[[CompilationRerelease Zero/ZX Legacy Collection]]'' in 2020.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** As elaborated in [[https://www.rockman-corner.com/2008/02/rockman-zx-animation-that-almost-was.html this article,]] the Japanese promotional trailer for ''ZX'' is not just for promoting the game, but served as a pilot for a planned anime series. Sadly, it was never made, for reasons explained in the article.
** A [[https://www.rockman-corner.com/2021/12/mega-man-zx3-was-in-development-at-one.html third installment]] in the ''ZX'' series codenamed ''"Rockman ZXC"'' was in development around the same time as ''VideoGame/MegaMan9'', but it was shut down for reasons unknown. It can be assumed it would have picked up with the infamous {{Cliffhanger}} ending of ''ZX Advent''. Funnily enough, Japanese fans had been speculating over a supposedly planned entry called "''Rockman ZX Cradle''" years before this news was confirmed, but it's unclear if this was actually the title.
* WordOfGod:
** Model A's appearance and ability to copy enemies are in fact a nod to Axl from the ''Mega Man X'' series. However, the developers couldn't canonically make it Axl due to his fate remaining unknown following the {{Cliffhanger}} ending of ''Mega Man X8''. They got around this by making Model A based on Albert instead, whose name also starts with an A.
** According to Makoto Yabe from an interview, the secret ending of Mega Man ZX Advent not only hinted at the next entry in the ZX series, but also hinted towards the ''VideoGame/MegaManLegends'' series.
* YouLookFamiliar: To the amusement of quite a few fans, it was discovered that several members of the English voice cast for ''ZX Advent'' previously lent their talents to the dub for ''VideoGame/MegaManX7''. Consensus is that [[VocalEvolution their characters are much better acted this time around]], to the point that some sound wildly different from their previous roles. Examples include:
** Peter von Gomm (X and Flame Hyenard) as Grey.
** Jack Merluzzi (Zero and Tornado Tonion) as Master Albert.
** Walter Roberts (Sigma and Soldier Stonekong) as Master Mikhail.
** Ryan Drees (Splash Warfly) as Prometheus.
** Rumiko Varnes (Alia) as Pandora.

[[folder: ''Mega Man ZX'' ]]

* Images and/or cutscene images of [[VideoGame/MegaManZero Ciel, Zero, and the Resistance]] can be found in Prairie's room, along with [[VideoGame/MegaManZero Alouette's]] old clothes. Her room is also filled with [[VideoGame/MegaManZero Cyber-elf]] plushies.
* Prairie's stuffed animal is the same one that she (Alouette) has had since ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZero1 Zero 1]]''.
* Hyleg Ourobuckle from ''VideoGame/MegaManZero2'' is sticking slightly out of a tree in Area A-2 (Forest) in the Giga Aspis boss fight section. Apparently, some of the snake platform is embedded in the trees as well.
* A [[VideoGame/MegaManZero Pantheon]] is looming out of the underground area's background in Area C-1 (City).
* An [[VideoGame/MegaManClassic E-Tank]] is just sitting on a crate in the same background. Coincidentally, in the game, you can purchase E Tanks from Cedre in the engine room, and obtain W Cans by hitting the doll in Prairie's room.
* The crane game section at the Amusement Park (Area H-2) has stuffed dolls of various Cyber-elves, 4 guardians, and a few bosses such as the [[VideoGame/MegaManZero1 Pantheon Core]] as well as Mayl and viruses from the ''[[VideoGame/MegaManBattleNetwork Battle Network]]'' series. Characters can be seen as the cranes pick them out of the piles, in the piles themselves, and even in the background.
%%Can someone clarify if "4 Guardians" refers to the Guardians from ZX or the Four Guardians from Zero and edit the entry accordingly?
* The Rush Roadster and Red Striker cars from ''[[VideoGame/MegaManBattleAndChase Mega Man: Battle & Chase]]'' are in the city. Also interesting to note is the fact that the two boys who own the cars are wearing clothes (with colors) astoundingly similar to Creator/{{Nintendo}}'s [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario and Luigi]].
* [[VideoGame/MegaManZero1 Aztec Falcon]] is apparently in the background along with the carousel in Area H.
* The vending machines scattered throughout the city are designed like big E-Tanks.
* Monitors in several areas of the city show the words "News Capcom." Creator/{{Capcom}}, of course, is obviously the gaming company, and could possibly be a reference to the "Capcom Times" newspaper from ''VideoGame/MegaMan6'' and ''[[VideoGame/MegaMan7 7]]''.
* Childre Inarabita from ''VideoGame/MegaManZero3'' hanging upside down in Area F-3 (Lake).
* Area D (Highway) is astoundingly similar to the highway intro stage in ''VideoGame/MegaManX1'', right down to the crumbling platforms and the fly helicopters braking the highway as they fall (Beecopters in ''X1''). The music that plays is also a re-arrange of the intro highway music.
* The core of the Guardian Base is the same energy design that Ciel was working on in the ''Zero'' series.
* The operators in the Guardian Base's command room look similar to the operators in the ''Zero'' series.
* The theme that plays when Model W awakens is a rearranged version of "Fate"--the theme of [[VideoGame/MegaManZero Dr. Weil]]. In fact, the beginning part loops for the boss entrances, so as to not continue onto the melody itself. "Babel Tower" is also a rearrange of Fate.
* In the city area, you can pick up bread from a lady's whose grandfather learned how to bake bread from an old Reploid (implied to be Old Man Andrew from the ''Zero'' series).
* The reporter on the roof of the building in the city area says he want to be like the "famous journalist from the wars" which is a reference to Neige from ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZero4 Zero 4]]'', [[LostInTranslation although in the localization, the reporter is referred to as a "He" whereas in the Japanese version, gender is not specified]].
* Vent resembles [=MegaMan=] Trigger from the ''[[VideoGame/MegaManLegends Legends]]'' series. this could be simply coincidence, but there are also instances of the stitch mouths and the single red eye design associated with Reaverbots appearing on places such as Model W cores and on Serpent's [[OneWingedAngel final form]].
* Fleuve bears a striking resemblance to Perroquiet from the ''Zero'' series. Similar to the implications that Prairie is an older Alouette, this may be because Fleuve is likewise an older Perroquiet.
* [[spoiler:Omega Zero]] from ''Zero 3'' can be found and [[OptionalBoss fought]] in Area N-1 following Area M. The black hole background also has a flickering transparent image of the room [[spoiler:Omega]] was originally fought in. ([[spoiler:the Abandoned Lab stage from ''Z1'' with Fusion Omega debris in the background]]). After defeating him, you can find a "Mysterious Stone" Biometal, which upon beating the game, Fleuve allows you to use [[spoiler:Model OX, whose appearance is an exact duplicate of Omega Zero, complete with access to several of the moves used by him in battle (which in turn were lifted from Zero's arsenal in the ''X'' games), including his signature GroundPound [[LimitBreak Giga Attack]]. (The first level of charge is based on what's seen in ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX2 X2]]'', ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX4 X4]]'', and ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX5 X5]]'', whereas the second level hews closer to ''X6''[='s=] Rekkoha. Its closest analogue is actually the Tenshouha from ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX8 X8]]'', but that game released after ''Z3'' did.)]]
* By putting either ''Mega Man Zero 3'' or ''4'' in the GBA slot in the DS, you can fight their bosses in Area N, as an alternate way of earning [[spoiler:Model OX]]. This feature was brought back in the ''Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection'' via its Link Mode.
* In the above-mentioned rematches, using Model HX while facing the ''Z3'' bosses (the Eight Gentle Judges) allows players to see their humanoid forms on the Biometal screen.
* Each Biometal combo has a Charge Shot similar to an attack in ''X1'': HX charge + ↑ is Storm Tornado, FX has charged Fire Wave, LX has charged Shotgun Ice and PX charge + ^ has charged Rolling Shield.
* In Flammole's Area (Area K), you have to fight the Lava Demon as a mid boss, which is an obvious Devil series reference. (Previous versions of that boss archetype up to that point being the [[VideoGame/MegaMan1 Yellow Devil]], [[VideoGame/MegaMan3 Yellow Devil MK-II]], [[VideoGame/MegaManV Dark Moon]], [[VideoGame/MegaMan8 Green]] [[VideoGame/MegaManAndBass Devil]], [[VideoGame/SuperAdventureRockman New Yellow Devil]], [[VideoGame/RockmanAndForteMiraiKaraNoChosensha Grey Devil]], [[VideoGame/MegaManX5 Shadow Devil]], and [[VideoGame/MegaManZero3 Rainbow Devil]].)
* The data servers in Protectos' boss room are the same kind that Ganesheriff's body was made of in ''Zero 1''.
* The floating flames produced by Serpent's meteor attack resemble the Neo Arcadia emblem from the ''Zero'' series.

[[folder: ''Mega Man ZX Advent'' ]]

* Wire Sponge from ''VideoGame/MegaManX2'' can be partially seen in the background near the bottom of the Tower of Verdure. Rospark, the boss of this area, also has a similar move set to Wire Sponge.
* In the Floating Ruins area, there is a side quest in which you find "artifacts." The artifacts are named Light Bulb, Pinwheel, L Tank, and Balancer.
** Light Bulb is shaped like the energy recovery item from ''VideoGame/MegaMan1''.
** Pinwheel is the Yashichi item found in many Capcom games. It notably appeared in the original ''Mega Man'', in which it was only found in the final level and restored all life and weapon energy once obtained. Rush could also randomly bestow this item upon Mega Man in ''VideoGame/MegaMan8'' using the Rush Charger ability.
** Balancer is the Energy Balancer found in every Classic ''Mega Man'' game since ''VideoGame/MegaMan6''. Its function is to automatically refill the weapon with the least amount of energy if Mega Man obtains Weapon Energy while not using a special weapon. This feature has been automatic for the ''X'' and ''ZX'' series, which is referenced by girl you give the Balancer to.
** The L Tank is essentially an upgraded E Tank from ''VideoGame/MegaMan5''. Players are additionally able to purchase E Tanks from Nick for 500 EC.
* The Utoboros from Launch Octopus's stage in ''VideoGame/MegaManX1'' can be found in the Oil Field (which is hinted to be the same area dried-out over the centuries). This Mechaniloid is later added to the display shelf at the Hunter complex.
* The Model Train is the train from ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZero2 Zero 2]]'' (and apparently ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZero1 Zero 1]]'').
* The Comic Book Secret Disk references ''[[VideoGame/RockmanAndForteMiraiKaraNoChosensha Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future]]''.
* The Model a (ancient) mini game [[{{Retraux}} is done in the style of]] the NES ''Mega Man'' games. The final fight with Albert is in a ship remarkably similar to Dr. Wily's UFO from ''VideoGame/MegaMan4'' and onward. When defeated, Albert does Wily's classic "[[AintTooProudToBeg bow for forgiveness]]" shtick.
* The "Legendary Hero" Secret Disk shows a picture of Mega Man from the notorious American box art of ''VideoGame/MegaMan1''. [[SelfDeprecation The description humorously mocks this art style]], explaining that "These Legendary Heroes look more like coalminers in colorful outfits."
* Queenbee has a move list similar to other bee-themed ''Mega Man'' bosses, such as [[VideoGame/MegaManX3 Blast Hornet]] and [[VideoGame/MegaMan9 Hornet Man]]. Since ''Advent'' came out before ''Mega Man 9'', it is possible that Queenbee is alluding directly to Blast Hornet.
* Model Z seems to sacrifice himself in ''Advent'' to [[YouShallNotPass stall]] the Enemy Mega Man so that Aile/Vent can go assist Grey/Ashe. It is possible that this, along with Model Z's final words to Aile ("No worries, today's not my day to meet my maker"), is alluding to [[DeathIsCheap the several times]] [[HeroicSacrifice Zero has risked himself for the sake of others]], such as ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX1 X1]]'' and ''[[VideoGame/MegaManX5 X5]]''.
* Model A is obviously based on Axl, even though the "A" in question stands for "Albert."
* Model A having a cap rather than a jewel like the other biometals [[https://www.rockman-corner.com/2020/04/the-making-of-rockman-zx-series-part-5.html is a subtle nod]] to the ending of ''X8'' [[spoiler: where Lumine destroyed Axl's lens/jewel]].
* Buckfire might be a vague [[VideoGame/MegaManX2 Flame Stag]] reference, as they are both fire-deer bosses.
* The flying beetles in the Legion HQ area are remarkably similar to the flying beetles in ''X2'', which could be ridden on to get to higher places.
* The Crushpactor in the Quarry area functions like the bulldozing enemies in Armored Armadillo's stage in ''X1''.
* Bifrost may be a vague reference to Wheel Gator from ''X2'', as he is reptilian and has a buzzsaw wheel that operates similarly to Wheel Gator's weapon.
* The Sage Trinity are named after the three doctors of the Classic series: Thomas Light, Mikhail Cossack, and Albert Wily. Albert's actions mirror his namesake, as Albert is the mastermind behind the "Game of Destiny."
* In the Legion area, there are several platforms which can be ridden and can damage enemies. These look similar to the carts in Armored Armadillo's stage and function in the same way.
* The Mechanical Tree miniboss in the Waterfall Ruins is similar to Wood Man from ''VideoGame/MegaMan2'', using leaf attacks reminiscent of his.
* After defeating Atlas in ''Advent'', you have to smash a wall made of what the raider describes as being Ceratanium, a material that has been used since ''VideoGame/MegaManClassic'' for various purposes, the most notable being what Rock's very armor is made of.
* During the obtain the plant for the room mini mission, one of the plants you can choose is the Poplan from ''[[VideoGame/MegaManZero4 Z4]]''.
* The secret Biometal model obtained by collecting all the medals, Model a, is based on the NES 8-bit sprite design for the Blue Bomber, and like [[VideoGame/MegaMan1 the]] [[VideoGame/MegaMan2 original]] [[VideoGame/MegaMan3 three]] NES Mega Man games, cannot fire charge shots and slides instead of dashes.
* Ouroboros and Legion (as well as [[VideoGame/MegaManZero4 Ragnarok]]) coincidentally are the names of VideoGame/{{Strider}} Hiryu's Hyper Combos in the ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom'' series.
* Model A somewhat resembles an upside-down Model W, and this resemblance even extends to their very names in the Japanese version where Model W is known as Model V.

* "Grim Reaper" and "Witch", the respective [[RedBaron nicknames]] of Prometheus and Pandora, are first revealed here.
* Aile has been going around and destroying Model Vs (Model W) after the events of the first game. At least 11 Model Vs including Serpent's have been destroyed so far.
