* LateExportForYou: The Platform/PlayStationNetwork and Platform/XboxLiveArcade versions of the game were launched near-simultaneously with the Platform/WiiWare version internationally, but they didn't actually come to Japan until nine months later.
* UrbanLegendOfZelda: Through the years, people have found all the references, little touches and unused data they could in this game, but [[WordOfGod former Capcom community manager Seth Killian]] insists that "one last secret" exists.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** All of the Robot Masters save for Magma Man had different names while in development: Cement Man (Concrete Man), Weather Man (Tornado Man), Plasma Man (Plug Man), Diamond Man (Jewel Man), Space Man (Galaxy Man), Ocean Man (Splash Woman) and Honey Woman (Hornet Man).
** There was some initial discussion of Capcom running a limited release of the game on an actual NES cartridge, as it was designed with NES hardware limitations in mind (such as color and object limits and only using a few sound channels). This was scrapped primarily because [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160529212226/http://www.1up.com/features/mega-man-9-afterthoughts there was no feasible way to port their modern game to decades-old hardware]][[labelnote:note]]Despite looking like an NES game, ''9'' is actually far too big to fit on an actual cartridge, partially because the techniques used to save space simply weren't viable for a modern developer with modern technology[[/labelnote]], and the costs associated with making a true 8-bit conversion (not to mention distributing it via a long-dead format) would've been much too high. There's also the fact that, by 2008, NES games had become very easy to pirate (not that this stopped piracy on modded Wii consoles, but still).
** Hornet Man was originally going to be a woman, though that concept would later be revived for the Archie Comics as Dr. Lalinde's Vesper Woman.
** A flying squirrel enemy that was the predecessor to the Morgun Mavericks from ''VideoGame/MegaManX2'' was originally going to debut.
