* As mentioned on the main page, it was created for the ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' series as a Mazinger equivalent to Shin Manga/GetterRobo. In its debut in ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWars4 F Final]]'', it was literally ''Anime/MazingerZ'' evolved through the Getter Rays. In the entire ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAlpha'' saga, it was changed to be the SuperPrototype Mazinger (the inverse of the later OVA, where it was the final Mazinger). The actual ''Mazinkaiser'' OVA would eventually debut in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsGC'', with ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsJudgment'', ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsW'', and ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsL'' including both it and the ''Great General of Darkness'' sequel. The original OVA also was included in ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsXOmega'' and ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDD''.
* In a twist for ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsX'', the original Mazinkaiser from ''F Final'' makes an appearance, albeit used by the ''Anime/ShinMazinger'' version of Kouji Kabuto. This game also features the "Mazin Emperor G", the ''Anime/GreatMazinger'' "[[MidSeasonUpgrade successor]]" created specifically from ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsV''; within the story, both are used as a deterrent against the [[Manga/ShinMazingerZero Mazinger ZERO]], complete with the Mazinkaiser and Mazin Emperor G performing the newly created "[[CombinationAttack Majin Soukougeki]]" on the latter.
* ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDD'' is notable for giving the OVA version of Mazinger Z the Jet Scrander, a concept not featured in the source material proper. Also, the OVA version of Tetsuya gets to [[https://youtu.be/8kepFP1f-NU pilot]] "Mazin Emperor G."

* DawsonCasting: Hiroya Ishimaru was 60 years old when he voiced 17 year old Koji Kabuto in Mazinkaiser.
