* FakeAmerican: Practically everyone except Scott (inverted with Paco and Hassan). Madison is voice acted by an American, but her motion capture is by a British actress.
* FanNickname: 'Not Jason'. ARI: detective spectacles = 'detectacles'!
** 'Nahman Jayden' as a jab at Norman's thick [[strike:Boston]] [[strike:New York]] [[FakeAmerican generic]] [[UsefulNotes/AmericanAccents Northeastern accent]].
** Another nickname a few fans came up with was Nomnom Jayden.
** Japanese fans have been known to transcribe Ethan as E3 (E-san).
* LetsPlay: [=LordMune=] goes through the game with [[http://lparchive.org/Heavy-Rain/ two simultaneous runs]]--as he's "supposed" to, and completely cocking things up.
** Another one is featured by the duo WebVideo/TwoBestFriendsPlay, where they spend a great deal of time making fun of the game and some of the looser sections of the plot.
* TheOtherDarrin: Madison is voiced by a completely different voice actor in ''The Taxidermist''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: There were some scenes that would have elaborated onto some plot threads but were scrapped in the final game. The biggest cuts were interactive sequences for Ethan Mars's blackouts, involving being flooded in water and haunted by Jason. At the end, it would have been revealed that [[spoiler: Ethan and the Origami Killer grew some kind of psychic link when Ethan was knocked into a coma at the beginning of the game]]. While the blackouts were kept, these scenes were removed due to David Cage feeling that they were too supernatural for the tone of the story, and deciding that the PlotHole caused by its removal [[VoodooShark was better than the explanation]].
** There was also going to be scenes explaining why Madison Paige suffers from insomnia. She was originally meant to have been a war correspondent during the WarOnTerror and had witnessed (and been nearly killed by) a terrorist bombing attack she was unable to prevent, leaving her with PTSD. This was replaced by the events shown in the Taxidermist episode.
** Downloadable episodes, beyond the Taxidermist, were planned out. Including one showing how Norman Jayden received the scar on his cheek. Unfortunately, the plans were abandoned when Sony asked Quantic Dream to [[ExecutiveMeddling add Playstation Move support for the game]].
** Speaking of said scar, Jayden's actor, Leon Ockenden, explains [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os9550YvRuU here at 1:50]] that his "psycho ex bitch of a girlfriend" gave him that scratch, and the game developers kept it in for the character.
** The game was originally planned to be on the UsefulNotes/{{Xbox 360}}, with a possible release for PC as well, but Microsoft [[http://www.polygon.com/2013/9/3/4691594/heavy-rain-originally-turned-down-by-microsoft-due-to-child refused the game]] fearing that it would cause a scandal due to its themes. Sony swooped in and offered Quantic Dream a significant exclusivity deal, and the studio has since committed its games to Sony platforms only.
