* ActorAllusion:
** Aila has the same voice actress as Yurin L'Ciel from Anime/MobileSuitGundamAGE, and both of them follow Gundam's famous PhlebotinumGirl archetype.
** Caroline's voice actress previously voiced Louise Halevy from Anime/MobileSuitGundam00. Both Louise and Caroline are blonde-haired girls who came from a rich and well-known family.
*** Irony: Caroline uses a Gundam-type model. .
** Creator/KotonoMitsuishi channels her other famous Gundam role, Murrue Ramius, when she does the OnTheNext segment for Episode 6.
*** In Episode 16, she can be heard humming "Invoke", SEEDs first opening theme, while packing her bags.
*** In Episode 23, Mao's master, whose favorite Gundam girl is Murrue Ramius, can be seen ogling Rinko.
*** Battlogue episode 3, the infamous MagicalGirl episode, goes outright meta with the voice of Rinko as narrator, considering Kotono was famously another magical girl.
*** Taken to its logical conclusion with the announcement that Rinko joins the official MS Girls line as the first one to be based on a battleship instead, specifically the Archangel.
** Kirara's idol outfit is white and has pink hair which is tied in GirlishPigtails, not unlike Madoka Kaname, who is also voiced by Creator/AoiYuuki. (But while Madoka is naturally pink-haired, it is later revealed that Mihoshi's natural hair color is purple and that she only wears a pink, twin-tail wig as Kirara.)
*** As Mihoshi, she ties her hair in a very long ponytail with two short sidelocks, wears a thick clothing and is also a pilot (though she joins in Gunpla Battles as Kirara, however), not unlike Akira Renbokoji, who is also voiced by her voice actress in another Sunrise anime, Anime/ValvraveTheLiberator.
** The first Battlogue sees Tatsuya and Alan test out the Gunpla Battle system's new AI program by pitting Char Aznable against Ribbons Almark. Char says that something about Ribbons' voice gets on his nerves but can't quite put his finger on it. Then in the middle of the battle, Allan spices things up by swapping Ribbons out for Amuro; Char makes the connection and demands to know why they sound so similar, but Amuro dismisses it as a coincidence. Naturally, Creator/ToruFuruya voiced both characters in their original shows and in this shortThough he still uses the pseudonym "Noboru Sogetsu" when playing Ribbons.
*** In an example that crosses with MythologyGag, Char is played by Creator/ToshihikoSeki in this short. While he's not Char's most famous voice, he has played the role before -- specifically, he plays the REAL Char Aznable in Manga/MobileSuitGundamTheOrigin; appropriately enough, the Ballistic Zaku he pilots is built from the Origin version of Char's Zaku II, whereas the original Zaku Amazing was built from the High-Mobility remoldused for Black Tri-Stars, Johnny Ridden and Shin Matsunaga Zakus of the First Gundam version.
* ContestWinnerCameo: Three of them, in Episode 23: the red-and-yellow Deathscythe was the winner of a custom color contest, the white and black machine named "Benkei"For the record: Geara Doga head, God Gundam arms and body, Red Frame Kai legs and katanas, and a Sword Striker backpack piloted by [[spoiler:GBPs version of Al Izuhura]] won a Gundam Breaker design contest, and the heavily customized Zssa that blasts Reiner's Zakrello was the winner of a Gunpla contest (the runners-up appeared in Episode 17 on Master Chinan's shelves).
* ScrewedByTheLawyers: Due to various legal agreements with Japanese TV networks, Mobile Suits that have aired on MBS and TBS in the last 5 years cannot be shown in Build Fighters. This means that, while suits from season 1 of Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 are present and represented, suits from season 2 are a no-show.
** Although given its OVA release nature, Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn is apparently fair game, considering a Loto did show up in the series, as did the Unicorn and Kshatriya (albeit as static models).
** Ditto for Anime/Gundam00AWakeningOfTheTrailblazer, since it's a feature film. Evident in episode 19 where one of Nils's opponents is actually the ScaryBlackMan from Celestial Being: The Movie.
** That said, the appearance of the Amazing Exia Repair in the final episode made fans squeal for joy... especially when they remembered that 00 Season 2 suits became fair game two days before Episode 25 aired.
*** Actually, the Amazing Exia is a double case of this: Careful examination reveals it's not actually an Exia, but an Exia Repair II. The staff did mention on Twitter doing something that pissed off the brass...
* ShowAccuracyToyAccuracy: notably averted, given the merchandise drive nature of the show.
** Most of the show's models actually do have highly articulated, "perfect" real world matches. The in-show models are also noted to have been sanded, painted and generally customized by their makers.
** In Episode 3, Mr. Ral's Gouf, from an older line of kits, is accurately depicted as being stiffer and less detailed than its modern counterparts. this also matches the Gouf's animation in the original Anime/MobileSuitGundam, making it strangely enough show accurate too! And the Zaku Amazing is modelled on the High-Mobility remold of the original HG Char's Zaku-II (featuring increased articulation including a waist), explaining its heightened LightningBruiser aspect.
** Becomes a plot point in Episode 9, where Sei realizes that Show Accuracy (making Build Strike something you might actually see in the Gundam SEED universe) is holding him back. He needs to use all his creativity if he wants to compete with world-class Builders.
