They eventually gave him some money to make a live-action short and were so appalled by what he turned in that he was fired on the spot for "wasting" it. He was fortunate enough to have [[Film/PeeWeesBigAdventure another project to fall back on]], kicking off his directing career and allowing him to continue working in show business until [[WesternAnimation/TheNightmareBeforeChristmas he and Disney eventually made peace]].
