* ActingForTwo:
** Creator/CreeSummer voices Lenne and Calli. Counts as TheOtherDarrin for the latter, but justified since the character is older now.
** And of course James Arnold Taylor voices Shuyin and Tidus, as it's a plot point that Yuna mistakes Shuyin for the latter.
* ActorAllusion:
** Rick Gomez voices a soldier who has a deep brotherly bond with his fellow squad members. [[Series/BandOfBrothers Nope, hasn't done that before]].
** Tara Strong voicing a GenkiGirl who's also the girliest in a trio of female adventurers. [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls Sounds familiar]].
* CreatorsApathy: Despite Lulu being nine months pregnant, her character model is identical to the one from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX''. Hell, she's still wearing her ''corset''! This is actually {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d by Rikku, who states that Lulu doesn't look pregnant. The developers said that they didn't feel like making a new character model for her. Ditto Wakka, who's supposedly out of shape since the events of the last game, but also reuses his old model.
* CreatorsFavorite: The Dark Knight costume is Tetsu Tsukamoto's favorite of Paine's designs. Each of the girls' helmets reflect their personalities; the sharp edges on Paine's helmet reflect her prickly outlook.
* InspirationForTheWork: Yuna's Gunner outfit was indeed inspired by ''Franchise/TombRaider'', [[https://www.finalfantasyunion.com/news/3900/yunas-final-fantasy-x-2-design-was-inspired-by-lara-croft/ according to the producer Yoshinori Kitase]].
* LateExportForYou: ''Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission'' wouldn’t be released outside Japan for ten years, until Square Enix would release ''Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster'' on the Platform/PlayStation3 and Platform/PlayStationVita, and later Platform/PlayStation4, Platform/{{Steam}}, Platform/NintendoSwitch, and Platform/XboxOne (which also included content exclusive to the ''International'' release). However, it seems to follow the ending based off of a [[HundredPercentCompletion 100% completion file]] rather than any other ending.
* NonSingingVoice:
** In the English version, Yuna's singing voice is actually Jade Villalon of Sweetbox. (Cree Summer is the speaking voice for Lenne. Not that Summer's unable to sing; she's released an album.) Hedy Burress does her own singing when choosing a Songstress ability. Ditto for Tara Strong and Gwendoline Yeo whenever Rikku and Paine sing in battle.
** In the original Japanese, Lenne's speaking and singing were both done by Music/KodaKumi.
* OfficialFanSubmittedContent: The Festivalist dressphere was created by an eight-year-old who won a dress-designing competition.
* PlayingAgainstType: Cree Summer voices two characters in this, neither of whom are a SassyBlackWoman. Calli is an AdorablyPrecociousChild, while Lenne is an ethereal BarrierMaiden.
* RealLifeRelative: Baralai and Gippal are voiced by real life brothers Joshua and Rick Gomez respectively. Ironically Baralai is the older character, yet is voiced by the younger brother.
* ShrugOfGod: Tidus and Shuyin's resemblance is stated in-game by Maechen to be anything but a coincidence. The developers however, have stated that while that's possible, Tidus being directly based on Shuyin is complicated by the issue of genetics and so this interpretation cannot be made certain, leaving the answer somewhat ambiguous.
* {{Typecasting}}: Rikku's English voice in the previous game was slightly different for Tara Strong, due to the trauma muting some of her optimism. However here, she's a full on GenkiGirl, making this within type for Strong.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** There were originally two spinoffs planned: one focusing on Yuna and the other on Rikku. As you might guess, they were eventually merged into one game.
** A prequel was pitched which would have focused on Jecht's arrival in Spira and Braska's pilgrimage. Fearing that would end up becoming repetitive, the developers opted to work on this one instead. (Additionally, a game focusing on Braska's party would have no playable female characters, and they didn't want that.)
** Lulu was planned to be the third party member, but since her no-nonsense personality would have put a stop to the adventure before it began, the writers created Paine. Lulu herself lampshades this.
** Numerous Dressphere ideas were planned, only a few of which are seen in the game. A ones described below are particularly intriguing examples:
### There is concept art of Yuna with a pistol-sized Gunblade similar to [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIII Squall's]]. Presumably this was the seed for the Gunner.
### While dressed as a Trainer, Paine was originally going to be a [[FeatherBoaConstrictor snake charmer]]. The programmers abandoned the idea because the snake was too hard to animate, so they recycled the bird who appeared when Tidus first spawned in Spira (in Baaj Temple).
### Paine was going to pilot a humanoid mecha instead of a bird (Full Throttle).
### The Geomancer class from ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyV'' was going to appear.
### Concept art for the Mascot shows that one of the girls was intended to dress up as the Onion Knight, while another plan was for her to use it as her weapon. This would have made the Godhand the only [[InfinityPlusOneSword Celestial Weapon]] not to be referenced.
** Creator/NobuoUematsu was supposed to compose music for the game, but he had other commitments, hence the radical shift in tone.
