* CreatorKiller: Tom Schulman previously won an MediaNotes/AcademyAward for writing ''Film/DeadPoetsSociety'' and continued to have a decent screenwriting career afterwards. Then this film, which was also his directorial debut, bombed badly, whittling his career down. ''Film/WelcomeToMooseport'' was the last film he had any significant involvement in for nearly two decades after it flopped as well in 2004.
* StarDerailingRole: This flop killed the careers of three actors.
** Creator/JoePesci was pretty successful early in TheNineties after winning an MediaNotes/AcademyAward for ''Film/{{Goodfellas}}'': following it with the ''Film/LethalWeapon'' sequels, the first two ''Film/HomeAlone'' films, ''Film/MyCousinVinny'', and ''Film/{{Casino}}''. Pesci's star power was then extinguished in 1997 when ''8 Heads in a Duffel Bag'' bombed, followed by the equally disastrous ''Film/GoneFishin'' the same year. After ''Film/LethalWeapon4'' the next year, he retired from acting barring a few occasional gigs (notably, his Oscar-nominated role in ''Film/TheIrishman'', though coaxing him into coming out of retirement was reportedly a struggle, and he didn't even bother attending the ceremony).
** Creator/AndyComeau was an up-and-coming actor before this film flopped. He worked sporadically on the screen in the following years afterwards, notably in season 4 of ''Series/{{House}}'' on a guest run. However, this was the only film where he played a lead role.
** Creator/KristySwanson saw the damage to her career after ''Film/{{The Phantom|1996}}'' exacerbated further with this film's failure. Both flops combined facilitated her decline into smaller parts on screen, though she did land a small but pivotal role in the Creator/AdamSandler comedy ''Film/BigDaddy''.
