* ContinuityCameo: In episode 8, among the requests the blonde tourist has gathered, there's a doodle of two girls searching for Hanejima Yuuhei - the twins from the novels. They actually show up in the last episode/second OVA and don't have much plot importance. In the same OVA, Mikado also briefly encounters a boy who might be Kuronuma Aoba.
* ContinuityNod:
** There are occasional mentions of Yagiri Pharmaceuticals being at risk of being bought out by an American company called Nebula -- The same Nebula that constructed the Flying Pussyfoot in the 1930s.
** The Dollars website password? LightNovel/Baccano.
** [[spoiler:"Hey, Isaac..." "What is it, Miria?"]]
** There are also an instance of a clip from Baccano (specifically the fight between Ladd and the Rail Tracer atop a train) playing on a big-screen TV on the side of a building, and again, in the background of one shot was a poster of the Rail Tracer. Both of these instances cause a slight contradiction to the theory that both series are in the same continuity, since Baccano appears to be a TV show or movie in the Durarara era. However, given the existence of Isaac and Miria and Nebula, it could just be a non-fictional movie. But who really knows?
** Ennis from LightNovel/Baccano again shows up on a big screen in the background during the second OVA/episode 25.
** In volume 5, Shizuo briefly mentions that he once got into a fight with a very-difficult-to-injure foreigner. BonusMaterial suggests that the man in question is Nile
** In volume 8, Saki mentions meeting an American kid that has suspicious resemblance to Kasuka Heiwajima/Yuuhei Hanejima. The kid in question is Charon Walken, Chane Laforet and 's grandson.

** Izaya: Trollzaya. In Japan he is known as Uzaya from "uzai" which means annoying.
* HeyItsThatVoice:
** Creator/MiyukiSawashiro as Celty Sturluson, and the dub casts KariWahlgren in the role, sounding very much like Raine Sage.
** Creator/MamoruMiyano as Masaomi Kida
*** And Creator/BrycePapenbrook in English. A short blonde womanizer with HiddenDepths? He's basically Zidane without the tail
** Creator/HiroshiKamiya as Izaya Orihara (The way humans won't love me back has left me in despair!!)
** Creator/DaisukeOno as Shizuo Heiwajima (This one is particularly obvious. Ono has such a distinctive talking style one can't help but hear Koizumi...)
*** Creator/JohnnyYongBosch as Izaya Orihara
**** Looking for confirmation on this, but isn't he also the young student who talks to Mikado at the train station at the end of episode 25?
*** Creator/CrispinFreeman as Shizuo Heiwajima
**** This means that Shizuo's both Kyon & Koizumi. Not to mention Alucard. He evens sounds like a more street-thug-like version of him.
**** But Bosch voices Koizumi. Which means Shizuo is Kyon, Koizumi, and...Izayyyaaaaaaa!!!

** SakiFujita as Ruri Hijiribe, even if it is a brief cameo.
** Mika Harima, in English, is voiced by Creator/CarrieSavage- the same voice actor as provided the voice of Lua! It's especially worthy of note in that Carrie Savage is one of the only English voice actors to appear in both LightNovel/Baccano! and Durarara!!, since they're dubbed by different companies (even Isaac and Miria were outfitted with new voice-actors for Durarara!!).
** JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK HORADA IS!?
** Creator/SpikeSpencer as Saburo Togusa, naturally.

** Creator/YujiUeda as Takashi Nasujima
* NamesTheSame: Kida.
* TheOtherDarrin:
* PlayingAgainstType: The irritable and agressive Shizuo Heiwajima is played by Creator/DaisukeOno, mostly known for playing smooth-talking Bishounen such as Itsuki Koizumi (TheMelancholyOfHaruhiSuzumiya) and Sebastian Michaelis (Manga/BlackButler).
** And Creator/JohnnyYongBosch as Troll Izaya, this isn't the first time he played a ManipulativeBastard.
** Also, Creator/SandyFox, who is well-known to voice cutesy, kind-hearted girls gives you [[spoiler: AxCrazy Yandere Haruna Niekawa]].
* RuleThirtyFourCreatorReactions: After getting bombarded by calls from his friends over his thoughts on yaoi (thanks to the infamous Shizaya pairing showing up in SayonaraZetsubouSensei), Narita finally made his stance known in a tweet: if he can femslash Harumi/Chiri, then the Durarara fans can ship whoever the hell they want to too.
** He then decided to screw with the fans by writing a Shizaya story as an April Fools joke. Found Here.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Invoked in Episode 6 by Togusa, who corrects the semi-conscious goon .
** The fansubbers sometimes subtitle the title as "Dullalalah", which is probably the intended translation seeing as the show is about a Dullahan. Artwork is often emblazoned with "DRRR", but fans tend to take it as a quicker way to refer to the series, and not its actual title proper.
*** Technically, DRRR!! would be the proper title, given that Narita decided the title the last minute after hearing someone flip through the pages of a book. Since symbols (letters) are made out of sounds in Japan, it would be デュラララ (lit. durarara). In the west, however, it should be romanized as drr[rrr]. It's even written as such in the second opening credits where all of the names are spelled in English. Durarara, however, is decidedly catchier and easier to say.
** There's also the Dullahan herself, over whom official materials are totally inconsistent. "Certy" appears late in the novels, she herself uses "Selty" on a computer in the anime's fourth episode, and Shinra has her as "Celty" in his cell phone address book in the sixth episode.
** The new opening now gives us the "correct" way to spell the characters names in English.
