* BreakawayPopHit: "Happy" hit #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 nearly nine months after the movie's release, and it is also a track on Pharrell Williams' 2014 album ''G I R L,'' a legitimate, non-soundtrack album. In fact, many people who like the song now don't realize that it was created for a ''Despicable Me'' film until someone tells them (or until they see the music video, which has dancing Minion costumes from Ride/UniversalStudios in it).
* CareerResurrection: Music/PharrellWilliams, who had name for himself in the early 2000s as a member of rap group N.E.R.D and production team The Neptunes, had faded from the limelight by the same he did the song for the first ''Despicable Me'' movie. The year this movie came out, he was a featured vocalist on two #1 hit songs (Music/DaftPunk's "Get Lucky" and Music/RobinThicke's "Blurred Lines"), eventually having his own with "Happy" a year later, catapulting him back into the mainstream.
