* CompletelyDifferentTitle: A funny story regarding the Taiwanese title. The literal meaning of the original title is "Black Orchid Beauty", but if you read it out loud in Mandarin, it sounds very similar to "Black Dick". It was eventually changed into something along the line of "Black Orchid Spirit".
* DawsonCasting: Creator/ZoeSaldana was 32 years old at the time she played 24 year old Cataleya.
* DivorcedInstallment: Creator/LucBesson originally wrote this as a sequel to ''Film/TheProfessional'', following an OlderAndWiser Mathilda Lando getting revenge on those that had wronged her. Because Gaumont held the intellectual rights to the movie and Besson departed from the company after the failure of 1998's ''Film/TheMessengerTheStoryOfJoanOfArc'', it was retooled into a standalone movie.
* FakeAmerican:
** Brit Creator/LennieJames plays an American FBI agent. His American accent is flawless but at one point, while searching cars, he [[SeparatedByACommonLanguage refers to the trunk as a 'boot']].
** A minor example, with Creator/GrahamMcTavish playing US Marshal Warren.
* FakeNationality: Puerto-Rican/Dominican Creator/ZoeSaldana, African-American/Danish Creator/AmandlaStenberg, and Maori Cliff Curtis play Colombians.
* StarDerailingRole: While her career isn't entirely derailed thanks to her roles as Uhura in the rebooted ''Franchise/StarTrek'' film franchise and Gamora in the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse, this big flop in 2011 killed any chance of convincing Hollywood to let Creator/ZoeSaldana lead a major motion picture.
