* ActorAllusion: Officer Earl Devereaux is voiced by Mr. T, and his character sure acts a lot like him. One of his lines also includes a variation on "I pity the fool." He has a bald spot which is the exact opposite of Mr. T's bald head with Mohawk, and T-shaped facial hair. Not to mention that [[spoiler:during the food flood as he's carrying his wife and son on a raft, he jumps through a fallen tortilla chip and comes out the other side, [[ImpactSilhouette a "T"-shaped hole visible right behind him]].]]
* ActorSharedBackground mixed in with FunnyAneurysmMoment: Averted. Flint hurriedly admits to Sam that he loves peanut butter, then lies about being allergic to it when Sam says she has a peanut allergy. Bill Hader (Flint's voice actor, and [[HeyItsThatGuy yes, the same one who plays Stefon on]] ''SNL'') actually does have a peanut allergy in real life.
* HeyItsThatVoice: Creator/NeilPatrickHarris as the monkey, Creator/MrT as the cop, Creator/{{BRUCE CAMPBELL}} as the Mayor.
** Not to mention [[TheLonelyIsland Baby Brent]], [[LockingMacGyverInTheStoreCupboard Joe Towne]] and [[SuperBad Flint himself]] -- all recognizable as SaturdayNightLive castmembers at the time. As of 2012, Flint's voice actor -- Bill Hader -- is the only one who's still a cast member on ''SNL'' (though, as of season 38 [2012-2013], Hader now joins Forte and Samberg as an ex-cast member). Will Forte, the voice of Joe Towne, left the show after its 35th season while Andy Samberg, the voice of Baby Brent, left the show after the 37th season.
** And Al Roker as the WNN anchor!
** [[Series/{{Scrubs}} Neil Flynn]] also has a brief role as a WNN producer.
** [[GilmoreGirls Lorelai]] as Flint's MissingMom.
** And for those who for some reason didn't notice, [[ScaryMovie Cindy Campbell]] (Anna Faris) as Sam.
* TheOtherDarrin: Terry Crews replaces Mr. T in the sequel.
* RecursiveAdaptation: A movie novelization of the film was released.
