* DevelopmentHell: The anime was originally announced in 2009, but there wasn't any new news after that for the rest of the year. In 2010, it was announced that Satelight would release the anime in 2011. In 2011, it was announced that the anime would start airing in the summer of 2011, but then the [[RealLifeWritesThePlot 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami]] delayed production, moving the release to 2012. The anime finally started airing in January 2012.
* FanTranslation: The light novels have [[NoExportForYou never been licensed for foreign release]]. Several attempts have been made to get these novels available in English:
** The first attempt was from May 2018 to July 2019 by someone named "yukamichi" but ultimately sputtered out after only 3 volumes were translated (and [[https://fleshtoplush.blogspot.com/2018/05/miniskirt-space-pirates-volume-1.html the blog]] hosting those 3 volumes has since gone offline).
** Another translator called "[=AkiraTepes=]" [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/42690645/chapters/107242347 picked up the series]] in October 2022 and completed about 2/3 of the first volume by February 2023 but went silent after that.
** A third translator known as "archivist" recovered yukamichi's copies of the first 3 volumes, and in October 2023 [[https://miniskirtpiratestranslations.org started work on Volume 4 and beyond]]. Time will tell if this latest effort is successful or not.
* NoDubForYou: For European releases. Despite Kaze licencing the series in France and some others licencing the show, ''Bodacious Space Pirates'' was never dubbed into any European language other than English, such as French, German, Italian etc. Instead, subtitles of the given languages are used instead.
* TheOtherDarrin: During the second half of the series, Ashley Mrozek-Thurow replaced Elizabeth Bannor as the voice of Natalia Grennorth; in the film, Mrozek-Thurow was in turn replaced by Juliet Simmons.
* StarMakingRole: Creator/CaitlynnFrench as Chiaki Kurihara (arguably, Hana Isuzu from ''Anime/GirlsUndPanzer'' 11 months later was her other StarMakingRole).
