!!The video game series:
* BannedInChina:
** Banned on Xbox LIVE in Australia.
** The remastered ''Terminal Cut'' re-releases of the first two games are not sold in Germany.
* TheCharacterDiedWithHim: Lynn Mathis (who voiced [=DarkMan=] as well as Stranger in Terminal Reality's other games) died in 2003, barely a year after the [[VideoGame/BloodRayne first game]] was released. Out of respect, Terminal Reality replaced [=DarkMan=] with Severin (voiced by Creator/TroyBaker).
* FandomNod: Several of the portraits in the first game's levels are based on photos of members of the (now defunct) Spookhouse forum for ''VideoGame/Nocturne1999''.
* ThrowItIn: Part of the script was written in a bid to make Creator/LauraBailey blush and the lines that did were the ones that were used.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Rayne's [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Beta_rayne.jpg initial character design]] was meant to be reminiscent of Svetlana Lupescu from ''VideoGame/Nocturne1999'', Terminal Reality's SurvivalHorror game that inspired ''[=BloodRayne=]'' but was later scrapped and redesigned into the Rayne we all know today. There's a passing reference to a character that might be Svetlana in the first game, when Mynce mentions one of Rayne's half-sisters also working for Brimstone.

!!The films:
* AwesomeDearBoy: Creator/BenKingsley stated that his biggest reason for doing the first film was for the chance to play a vampire, cape and all.
* BoxOfficeBomb: Budget, $25 million. Box office, $3,650,275.
* CompletelyDifferentTitle:
** Japan: ''Blood Drain''
** Romania: ''The Vampire Princess''
* CreatorBacklash: Creator/GuinevereTurner, the scriptwriter, has stated publicly that she will never work with Creator/UweBoll again, and that only about 25% of her first draft was actually used. [[TroubledProduction There was no second draft: the script was flown to the production site as-is.]] Creator/MichaelMadsen is not fond of the film either.
* CreatorKiller: This was the first and last time Creator/BillyZane ever ''distributed'' a film. The box office failure combined with a lawsuit filed against him by Creator/UweBoll led Zane to quit the film distribution business.
* DirectToVideo: The two sequels that followed after the first.
* DisownedAdaptation: Rayne's voice-actress Creator/LauraBailey expressed her dissatisfaction with the movie at Anime Boston 2007.
--> [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKevjLdhCEs Laura Bailey]]: Oh God, that movie sucked. And that movie was so bad. I saw it on The Movie Channel and I couldn't even get through 20 minutes of it! It was so bad and it was kinda sad that they took that because I really liked the games.
* TheForeignSubtitle:
** Argentina: ''[=BloodRayne=]: Blood Revenge''
** Greece: ''[=BloodRayne=], Thirst for Revenge''
** Hungary: ''[=BloodRayne=]: In the Shadow of Truth''
* MoneyDearBoy: Half the reason ''Creator/BenKingsley'' agreed to appear (as he said, "my children have gotten used to eating.") The other half is [[AwesomeDearBoy because he thought it'd be fun.]]
* QueerCharacterQueerActor: Rayne was played by actress Creator/KristannaLoken, who is a bisexual woman like her.
* RomanceOnTheSet: Apparently Creator/KristannaLoken and Creator/MichelleRodriguez dated for a bit during filming.
* ScrewedByTheLawyers: Creator/BillyZane not only co-starred in this movie, he also co-owned Romar Entertainment, the company that distributed the film in the U.S. Romar promised Boll that the film would open in 2,000 theaters across the U.S. and ended up opening in 950 of them, which led to Boll suing Zane and Zane getting out of the film distribution business after settling.
* VindicatedByCable: Made less than $4 million worldwide at the box office, but its almost immediate release to showings on Creator/{{Syfy}} (and strong DVD sales) exposed it to their audience of [[BileFascination bad movie connoisseurs]] and justified the two DirectToVideo sequels.
