* AscendedFanon: ''Ask Axe Cop'' is all about taking any suggestion-veiled-as-a-question from fans and running wild with it.
* BigNameFan: After receiving numerous Twitter messages about it, Simon Pegg read Axe Cop and liked what he saw. He went on to recommend it himself on his own Twitter, as did some cast members from ''[[Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000 MST3K]]''.
** The ''WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}}'' crew are fans too, and sent Malachai a signed ''Ben 10'' poster as a birthday gift (he's a fan). Very awesome.
** A staff member from ''Series/TheITCrowd'' asked for a copy of the CHOP poster to [[http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4560601&id=271045833946 place on the set]].
** Rich Werner, creator of ''VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies'', provided a rendering of ''Zombies Vs. Plants'' for [[http://axecop.com/comic/ask-axe-cop-53/ Ask Axe Cop #53]]. And of course, both Ethan and Malachai are fans of ''VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies''.
** During an an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit with Ethan and Malacai, Music/SnoopDogg showed up and expressed interest in guest-starring on the TV show.
* TheDanza: On the Fox animated series, Todd Barry's [[WhyDoYouKeepChangingJobs ubiquitous clerk character]] is named Todd in the episode "The Rabbit Who Broke All the Rules".
** In the episode "When Night Creatures Attack", the [[MonumentalTheft Sun Thieves]] are played by [[Film/KillingThemSoftly Ben Mendelsohn and Scoot McNairy]], and in the end they accidentally reveal each other's names as Ben and Scoot.
* FanworkBan: Ethan has requested that ''Axe Cop'' be the exception to RuleThirtyFour in order to preserve the innocence of Malachai's creations.
* HeyItsThatVoice: In the Fox cartoon, Axe Cop is voiced by none other than paragon of mustachioed manliness [[Series/ParksAndRecreation Ron Swanson]] (Nick Offerman).
** And [[Series/BreakingBad Gus Fring]] (Creator/GiancarloEsposito) turns up as Army Chihuahua.
** The old motion comic versions of [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAe8uGPmJHY Episode 3]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1UIQYf4H7M Episode 4]] have Creator/MauriceLaMarche as Avocado Soldier.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Subverted (in RealLife), as seen [[http://www.facebook.com/axecopfanpage/posts/10150165144328947 here]]. "Well I just spent a month with Malachai writing "Axe Cop VS. Al Qaeda" for nothing!" [Lots of people suggest they go ahead with it anyway, in spite of UsefulNotes/OsamaBinLaden's just having been killed.] "Okay, I was kidding."
** Annotations on comics, appendices in the book collections, and discussions on the [[http://www.nlcast.com/category/chop/ "Chop!"]] podcasts reveal planned ideas that didn't make it into the finished comics. Some of these ideas are [[RefittedForSequel Refitted]] for later comics or even [[WesternAnimation/AxeCop the TV show]], since Ethan worked with the writing team, and Malachai was consulted on the occasional teleconference with them. (Zombie Island would have been just a regular island until Malachai said that it should be in space, and so the animators had to partially redo the episode.)
*** For instance, ''Bad Guy Earth'' was going to include a character called the Scare King until Ethan decided it was too derivative of a [[Advertising/TheBurgerKing Burger King]] game. Yet come the TV episode "An American Story", the King of England was actually styled after the Burger King!
*** The behind-the-scenes discussion that led to [[http://axecop.com/comic/ask-axe-cop-13/ Axe Cop turning aliens evil to justify killing them]] became the script for the ending of "No More Bad Guys".
*** Axe Cop's [[HurtingHero oddly somber discussion on how he'll never be happy]] was revealed by Ethan to have been taken from an unfinished "Ask Axe Cop" comic.
* WordOfSaintPaul: The entire comic can be considered this, as the artwork is Ethan's interpretation of [[WordOfGod Malachai's]] universe. Ethan has mentioned in interviews how often he learns afterward what he draws fails to match what the young Malachai envisioned due to either being too vague or having difficulty expressing his ideas.
