* ActorAllusion: Austin always wanted to play a surfer in a beach musical.
** Appropriately, Lynch's fellow Teen Beach Movie cast member Grace Phipps plays Austin's co-star in that episode.
** Carrie mentioned in "Dancers and Ditzes" that she's been taking up DJ lessons. In real life, Hannah Kat Jones, who plays Carrie, also does DJ work outside of being a model and acting.
** Trish says that Benny (an Austin Moon impersonator) looks more like her than Austin. Those who don't know, Benny is played by Rico Rodriguez, Raini's brother in real life.
* BeamMeUpScotty: "Boom" is treated as Austin's catchphrase by those who imitate him, despite the fact that he never really says this.
* CastIncest: "Duos & Deception" has where Dove Cameron and her real-life boyfriend Ryan [=McCartan=] portray siblings. This is a case where the actors have already been dating before being cast as family members.
* TheCastShowoff: The entire main cast are all singers, (yes, including Calum Worthy, which comes off as a surprise to many, as it is not something one would expect from his character).
* DawsonCasting: Largely an aversion, with Calum Worthy (b. 1991) hardly being an JustForFun/egregious example; Raini Rodriguez is the oldest of the four (b. 1993).
* DirectedByCastMember: Raini Rodriguez directed "Rejection & Rocket Ships."
* RetroactiveRecognition:
** Trish's brother JJ now works at a superhero hospital.
** Sabrina Carpenter's whole career started with her guest appearance as Lucy Gluckman in the show. In turn, Ross Lynch and Laura Marano returned the favor when they in turn showed up in the Girl Meets World episode "Girl Meets World of Terror 2".
** Sofia Carson as Chelsea, a girl whom Ally gets jealous over in "Princesses & Prizes".
** Max, one of the Music Factory's students, is Ethan Diaz.
* RomanceOnTheSet: The actors portraying Austin's parents are married in real life.
* ThrowItIn: Like most scripted shows, occasionally they throw in an error, mistake or an unscripted adlib.
** When Ally tries to crayon outside the lines of a coloring book she can't bring herself to do it. Austin grabs her hand and starts coloring in the book. He colored it so hard he broke the crayon. Laura breaks character (which isn't very obvious since Ally's personality matched Laura's pretty closely) saying that he broke the crayon before it ends with the VanityPlate.
** Ally and Austin dancing towards the end of Diners & Daters has an unscripted moment where Ally trips on the couch and falls down into a seated position on the couch. Austin's actor Ross Lynch stops his dancing and nearly breaks character. Before he can Laura stands back up saying it was 'part of the dance' and she keeps dancing. They threw it in.
* WrittenByCastMember: Calum Worthy wrote "Eggs & Extraterrestrials."
