* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Newman had originally planned a book set in TheWildWest, featuring a vampire Edgar Allan Poe tracking down a vampire Billy the Kid (In RealLife, [[GeniusBonus Billy's killer was accompanied by a man named Poe]]). The idea was scrapped when Creator/UweBoll released ''Film/BloodrayneIIDeliverance'', which also featured a vampire Billy the Kid.
** Beauregard's fiancée [[ReplacementGoldfish Penelope]] was originally the sister of his dead first wife. Newman changed her to a cousin after finding out that remarriage with your spouse's sibling was illegal in England during the novel's time period, being considered incest.
