* CreativeDifferences: Robert Hewitt-Wolfe (''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'') was the original showrunner and stuck closely to Creator/GeneRoddenberry's notes. He resigned after Season Two. He has since, however, written a one-act play, ''[[http://www.cyberspace5.net/agentrichard07/coda.htm Coda]]'', which is a compressed form of his original blueprint for ''Andromeda.''
* CreatorCouple: Dylan Hunt's fiancee, Sara Riley, was played by Kevin Sorbo's real life wife, Sam Sorbo.
* HostilityOnTheSet: Creator/KevinSorbo's lead role greatly-expanded from Season 3 onward. Unfortunately for him, several members of the core cast found him difficult to work with and quickly bailed out. Around this time, Sorbo became a born-again Evangelical Christian.
* RomanceOnTheSet: Lexa Doig met her future husband Michael Shanks (''Series/StargateSG1'') when he had a guest role on ''Andromeda'' in "Star Crossed". Amusingly, his character is Rommie's DistaffCounterpart from another Commonwealth ship, the ''Balance of Judgement'', who falls in LoveAtFirstSight with Rommie. Shanks did another episode in Season 3 after they got married, and Doig was welcomed into the supporting cast of ''SG-1'' after ''Andromeda'' wrapped.
* WagTheDirector: Robert Wolfe claims he was actually fired for resisting network demands to make the show more episodic and Creator/KevinSorbo's demand that [[ItsAllAboutMe all episodes be centered around him.]] Sorbo claims he regretted Wolfe leaving and that he liked where the series was going up to that point.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** One of the early pitches was for a distant sequel to the ''Franchise/StarTrek'' franchise, with the Klingons (who had long-since integrated into the Federation) in the Nietzchian role as rebels who tore down the Commonwealth from within. Notably, the third season of ''Series/StarTrekDiscovery'' has begun adapting elements of this story including a possibly collapsed future Federation, a starship from the past ending up in this future, and its crew trying to rebuild the Federation.
** According to Robert Wolfe's ''Coda'' script, the original plan was for the crewmembers to wind up as leaders of all the various factions. Dylan would head the Commonwealth, Tyr the Nietzchians, Rev Bem the Wayists, Harper the Consensus of Parts, and Beka assembles the rest of the machine and ascends to godhood.
