* BlackSheepHit:
** No one expected a bluegrass version of a modern country classic (Music/KeithWhitley's "When You Say Nothing at All") to become more popular than the original, least of all Alison and the band. She has said their initial reaction to the song's progress up the charts was "Huh?"
** Krauss' guest appearance on Music/{{Shenandoah}}'s "Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart", as it's slicker and more pop sounding than AKUS' material.
* ColbertBump: They were fairly obscure until Krauss appeared on Music/{{Shenandoah}}'s late 1994-early 1995 hit "Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart".
* OneHitWonder: The aforementioned "When You Say Nothing at All" cover is the only hit for the band proper. But in an inversion of how this usually works when the lead singer of a group also records independently with other artists, Krauss herself has had one #1 hit ("[[Music/KennyRogers Buy Me a Rose]]", which also featured non-one-hit wonder Billy Dean) and two Top 10s as a guest artist (the aforementioned "Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart" and "[[Music/BradPaisley Whiskey Lullaby]]").
