* CreatorsPest: Olba Frost was hated by his [[Creator/NozomuSasaki voice actor]] - apparently, the role even gave him logomisia toward the phrase "Nii-san.".
* FollowUpFailure: Sorta. By the time Gundam X went to air, a Gundam series had been in production and continuously on TV since [[Anime/MobileSuitVictoryGundam 1993]]. Three solid years, once a week ''every week'', with no summer or winter hiatuses. Add in the fact that each new "season" took place in a new continuity, and the fan fatigue becomes apparent. A mid-season move to [[FridayNightDeathSlot the wee hours of Saturday morning]] was more than the franchise could handle at that point, and led to the first premature conclusion of a Gundam TV series since the original.
* NoExportForYou: Rather infamously, despite sharing a similar tone and art direction to Gundam Wing, [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff which was a smash hit in America]], Gundam X was never licensed for the longest time. It wasn't until 2015, close to two decades after it was released, that it finally got an official DVD release in the U.S., [[NoDubForYou though with no dub due to the series' age]].
** Before that, the only country that got the series outside of Japan was the Philippines. All 39 episodes of it, in Tagalog back in 2001.
* PlayingAgainstType: Creator/MikaKanai, Tiffa's VA, is best known for her archetypal GenkiGirl performances. Here, she's playing a painfully shy and softspoken lass.
** Chieko Honda's previous Gundam role was {{Moe}} GenkiGirl [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ Elpeo Puru]] which is in stark contrast to [[MsFanservice the attractive]] [[BrokenBird and emotionally broken]] Ennil El.
** Creator/YukoMizutani, Carris Nautilus' VA, went on to voice [[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsCompact2 Excellen Browning]].
** It's inverted for Garrod Ran's voice actor Creator/WataruTakagi. This was his debut, and afterwards he tends to play the BigGuy in other anime he's cast in.
* RealitySubtext: The then-recent Aum Shinrikyo terrorist attacks cast a long shadow over this series, not to mention ''Gundam'' as a whole. The final episodes' rebuke of the idea of Newtypes being able to usher in a new era of human evolution was at least partly motivated by the fact that earlier ''Gundam'' shows' focus on PsychicPowers had contributed to the NewAge craze in Japan that had allowed {{Cult}}s like Aum to thrive. This sense of disillusionment would soon filter back into the original UC timeline, particularly in ''Manga/MobileSuitGundamTheOrigin''.
* UrbanLegendOfZelda: A claim repeated by detractors of the series is that Gundam X was canceled. In reality, the series was cut short by 10 episodes, but not canceled - a claim which not only the staff has repeatedly dismissed, [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2017-08-30/after-war-gundam-x-character-designer-disputes-series-cancellation-status/.120696 but wishes would stop being repeated]].
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: [[http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/gundam/images/e/ea/C0012102_12032856.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130225130153 Ennil El was supposed to have her own Gundam-type mobile suit]] after she joins with the crew of Freeden. However due to ExecutiveMeddling, it was never materialized in the series proper.
** After Toonami finished broadcasting ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing'', they approached Sunrise for another series, hoping to get this series as well as ''Anime/TurnAGundam''. However, due to ExecutiveMeddling, Sunrise forced them to start with the original Mobile Suit Gundam.
* This series debut for ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWars'' was in ''Alpha Gaiden''. It also shows up in ''Reversal'' and the ''Z'' series.
