TheDragon in Anime & Manga.
----
!!Anime and Manga with their own pages
* TheDragon/Doraemon
----
* In Manga/ZeroSevenGhost, the Dragons have Dragons. Kuroyuri is a Dragon to Ayanami, and Haruse is a Dragon to Kuroyuri.
* Literature/ArifuretaFromCommonplaceToWorldsStrongest [[spoiler:Noint]] is this to the [[spoiler: god Ehit]], though
* Anime/BattleSpiritsShonenToppaBashin has Smile, who serves this role in Numbers Elite. He's likely the most powerful and dangerous of the Numbers and is the only one who
** In Battle Spirits Brave, Duc becomes one .
* Nosferatu Zodd of Manga/Berserk becomes Griffith's Dragon some time after the Eclipse.
** Another great example is Grunbeld, who actually turns into a giant dragon in his full Apostle form.
** During the Golden Age arc, Guts himself can count as Griffith's Dragon, especially if you consider Griffith's overall goal.
* Shiki is DragonWithAnAgenda to Creed in Manga/BlackCat. He's the deputy leader of The Apostles Of The Stars, issues orders in Creed's absence, and is the one that Train has to fight before he can get to Creed.
* Manga/Bleach:
** Gin Ichimaru and Tousen Kaname serve as CoDragons to Aizen. There's also a subversion as Ulquiorra is set up to be Aizen's Espada Dragon. However, when Ichigo finally calls him out on it, Ulquiorra reveals that he's only the fourth Espada and therefore Ichigo (and the reader) is mistaken to believe there are any Espada Dragons at all.
** Subverted in the Lost Agent arc: Shishigawara appears to be Tsukishima's dragon. [[spoiler: In fact Tsukishima himself is the dragon, to Ginjo.]]
** In the The Thousand-Year Blood War Arc, Haschwalth is TheDragon to the BigBad Yhwach, TheEmperor of the Vandenreich. [[spoiler: Until Yhwach makes the decision to replace Haschwalth with Uryuu Ishida. Yhwach seems to know a protagonist only joins the villains to betray them from within, so he makes sure Uryuu is immediately KickedUpstairs to Dragon and UnexpectedSuccessor, angering the army (which is primarily loyal to Haschwalth) and depriving him of the freedom or support to attempt a coup.]]
* Amshel in Anime/BloodPlus can be seen as TheDragon for the BigBad, Diva. At the same time, he exudes DragonInChief qualities. Which is fitting, as Diva is not exactly the plotting type.
* In Manga/Brave10, UsefulNotes/HattoriHanzo is Tokugawa's main ninja enforcer, but naturally the One-eyed Dragon of Oshu is his less clandestine one. Both have personal agendas, however, and neither has much regard for their boss.
* Manga/BusoRenkin: In the first arc of the series, the hawk-homunculus Washio is the most powerful and trusted creation of Koushaku Chouno, the Papillon Mask Creator. Created from a former yakuza, Washio is totally loyal to his creator, and is far more powerful than the arc's BigBaduntil he managed to transform himself into a humanoid homunculus, acting as Chouno's bodyguard, enforcer and the de facto leader of Chouno's homunculi.
* In the backstory of Manga/ChronoCrusade, Chrono was actually TheDragon to Aion's BigBad. Once he leaves the Sinners, the role seems to fall to Genai instead.
* Anime/CodeGeass:
** The BigBad of the mainline series, Emperor Charles zi Britannia, has Sir Bismarck Waldstein, the Knight of One and leader of the Knights of the Round. Bismarck is the single most skilled Knightmare pilot in the Britannian Army at that point, bar none (except maybe Suzaku Kururugi, who is a part of his ranks in R2), and his position is one of great authority even within Britannia, as whoever holds the title of Knight of One can become governor of whatever country they see fit. Suzaku makes it his goal in R2 to eventually push for the title [[spoiler:(until things change and he joins forces with his old friend turned enemy, Lelouch vi Britannia)]].
** [[spoiler:In Episode 21 of R2, after the death of Emperor Charles, Lelouch ascends to the throne and appoints Suzaku as his Knight of Zero, a.k.a. his Dragon, and thus likely to be remembered for ending up as this, since he also faked his death whilst acting as Emperor Lelouch's second-in-command. Interestingly enough, Suzaku is responsible for defeating and killing Bismarck after Lelouch takes power, but by then Suzaku no longer wants the title; instead he asserts his authority over the Knight of One with his own new title before besting Bismarck in their Knightmare duel.]]
** In Nightmare of Nunnally, Rolo is Charles' Dragon, [[spoiler:but he has an agenda of his own; planning to become Demon King with C.C.'s power]].
* Manga/Cyborg009:
** As second-in-command of Black Ghost, Van Vogt is this to Skull.
** AGodAmI Apollo has two dragons in the forms of Achilles and Minotaur, who appear to function as his bodyguards. In the manga, Apollo also serves as this to Dr. Gaia and Dr. Uranus.
** As the leader of the Psychic Assassins, Cain acts as this to Dr. Gamo Whisky in the Mutant Warriors arc of the anime.
** In Cyborg 009 vs. Devilman OVA, Dr. Adams' top enforcer his own son, Edward, who leads Adams' High-Teen Number Cyborgs.
* Anime/Daimos: .
* In Manga/DeathNote, Light Yagami initially has Misa Amane, but later acquires a far more competent underling in the form of Teru Mikami. To drive this home, he's even nicknamed "The Hand of Kira".
* As Upper-1, Kobushibo from Manga/DemonSlayerKimetsuNoYaiba is Muzan's right-hand man and their relationship is more business-like. He's also the second strongest demon in existence, only weaker than his master.
* Franchise/Digimon does this often enough.
** Season 1: The first BigBad, Devimon, has Ogremon as his Dragon, or as a co-dragon if you count the BrainwashedAndCrazy Leomon.
*** The third Big Bad, Vamdemon/Myotismon, has CoDragons [=PicoDevimon=]/[=DemiDevimon=] and Tailmon/Gatomon until her HeelFaceTurn. After that, Phantomon takes Gatomon's place.
*** The leader of the fourth Big Bads has a [=LadyDevimon=] as his bodyguard.
** Season 2: The Digimon Kaiser has Kimeramon.
*** Mummymon to Arachnemon/Arukenimon, until we find out that they were .
** Season 3: Caturamon had Beelzemon as his DragonWithAnAgenda, who only really helps him for the power, and at the first opportunity, screws him over.
*** This is strange, since Caturamon is the one who evolved Impmon into a Ultimate level while he's just an Perfect. That couldn't possibly backfire in the slightest.
** Season 4: Duskmon to Cherubimon.
*** Then we have Dynasmon and Crusadermon, CoDragons to .
** Season 5: Gotsumon is this to Merukimon.
*** Kurata has Belphemon. Also, he has Kouki of the QuirkyMiniBossSquad.
*** Yggdrasil has Craniamon/Craniummon, Gallantmon/Dukemon and Omnimon/Omegamon as CoDragons.
* Manga/DragonBall:
** Assistant Black for Commander Red, until he shot Red when it turns out the wish Red planned to use the Dragon Balls for was something as trivial as wishing to be taller.
** Piano could be considered King Piccolo's Dragon.
** Nappa was Vegeta's Dragon until he decided to kill him after losing to Goku.
** Frieza has three: First, Zarbon and Dodoria, who get killed in battle and replaced by the newly-arrived Captain Ginyu. Ginyu's even smart enough to know that he's the Dragon when he correctly assumes that Goku's ultimate goal is to take on Frieza, though apparently he's not savvy enough to predict his own inevitable defeat.
** Dabura is Babidi's Dragon, topping his squad of EliteMooks.
** From Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods, Whis is the Dragon to the God of Destruction, Beerus.
** From Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF, Sorbet is Frieza's new Dragon.
* Anime/TheVisionOfEscaflowne has Dilandau as Folken's Dragon, who in turn is Emperor Dornkirk’s Dragon (while Folken doesn't fight, he is the tactician, and fills a very Vader-esque role).
* Manga/FairyTail has one for almost every ArcVillain. Kageyama is Eligor's. Zalty is Reitei Lyon's. Gajeel is Master Jose's. Ultear is Jellal's, . "Darkness" Fried is the dragon for Laxus Dreyar. Cobra or Midnight is Brain's, depending on who you ask. Ultear returns and shares the role with Bluenote Stinger to Master Hades before the first TimeSkip. Kyouka is Mard Geer Tartaros's, who in turn is set up as E.N.D.'s (aka [[spoiler:Natsu Dragneel]]), at least before it turns out the latter is really a DecoyLeader. And finally, we have August, Irene and Invel, all of whom share the position to Zeref Dragneel.
* Anime/FangOfTheSunDougram gives the DesignatedVillain Donan Cassim not one, but two Dragons -- one for the war effort against the heroes and their LaResistance friends, and the other for his political maneuvers back on Earth. Surprisingly, his political Dragon is colonel von Stein - the highest ranking officer in Cassim's army, while his military Dragon is his secretary LeCoque, .
* Mr. Heart serves the role of Shin's Dragon in the Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar manga. In the anime, this role is filled by FillerVillain Joker after Heart is killed early in the Southern Cross arc. The closest thing Raoh has to a Dragon in the original manga and anime series is Ryuga of Sirius (in TheMovie, this role is perfectly filled by Uighur the Warden).
** In the Legends of the Dark King spinoff, Souga was Raoh's main right-hand man until his position is usurped by Ryuga's arrival.
* Kasumi Kenshirou, the uncle of the original Kenshirou, to Pang Kuang-Lin, the lord of the drug-dealing gang Qing Bang.
* Mouri Kouran of Manga/FlameOfRecca has two, arranged neatly along the SortingAlgorithmOfEvil, with Kurei serving for the first two story arcs, until [[spoiler:his HeelFaceTurn to NobleDemon and replacement by PsychopathicManchild Renge.]]
* Manga/FullmetalAlchemist:
** Pride, the oldest and most indispensable of Father's homunculi. An EnfanteTerrible with a sadistic streak and a LackOfEmpathy that's truly staggering, Pride's ability to utilize shadows as weapons makes him all but indestructible, and he seems to take the heroes' interference in Father's affairs very personally. Despite that, he's loyal to Father to the point of [[spoiler:mortally injuring himself to ensure that the latter's plan to AGodAmI become God will succeed]].
*** Solf J. Kimblee serves as Pride's Dragon for a time, [[spoiler:gets devoured, and then pays Pride back in a DyingMomentOfAwesome]].
** In Anime/FullmetalAlchemist2003, Envy serves as 's last line of physical defense, has a personal grudge against the heroes and faces them the most often, and is closest to the BigBad, being . He even [[spoiler:turns into a dragon in the final episode and movie]].
** In the 2003 anime, Frank Cyborg Archer is arguably Pride's Dragon, with Solf J. Kimblee as his own.
* Tomo from Manga/FushigiYuugi: we don't see as much of him in the anime, but in the manga he's the closest thing Nakago has to a confidant as well as a lieutenant, and his ability to kill large groups of opponents without them realizing he's even present makes him quite dangerous.
* Anime/FutureRobotDaltanious: Kloppen is this to Emperor Dolmen. Valuing his brutality in warfare, Kloppen was assigned to lead the AlienInvasion of many planets and . However, Dolmen isn't impressed with Kloppen's failures and constantly threatens to have him executed if he doesn't put down the robot.
* The Franchise/Gundam franchise has numerous examples:
** In the original Anime/MobileSuitGundam, Char Aznable pretended to be the Zabi family's Dragon, while plotting (rather successfully) to stab them all in the back. Gihren Zabi initially appears to be DragonInChief to his father, Degwin Zabi, [[spoiler:but ultimately betrayed him and took the BigBad position for himself]]. Princess Kycilia Zabi has her own personal Dragon in her Knight, M'Quve.
*** Sidematerials reveal that Gihren's secretary, Cecilia Irene, was this to him in a political sense, acting as his confidante, NumberTwo, and liaison to the general staff, while simultaneously arranging assassinations and other dirty jobs.
** Zeta Gundam: Titans field commander, Bask Om plays this role to Jamitov Hymem, being responsible for the day to day running of the organisation and all of the tactics that they use in the field. Sarah Zabiarov, Jerid Messa, and Yazan Gable are all in the running for the position of Paptimus Scirocco's Dragon, but due to the latter's refusal to trust anyone, none of them really hit the archetype.
** In Gundam Wing, Zechs Merquise, almost without knowing it, is TheDragon to Treize Khushrenada, who also has Lady Une as his NumberTwo, top assassin, and most trusted confidante.
** Anime/AfterWarGundamX: Olba Frost is either this to his older brother, Shagia Frost, or the junior partner in a BigBadDuumvirate.
** In Gundam SEED, Athrun Zala and then Yzak Joule play Dragon to Rau Le Creuset (who is himself The Dragon to Patrick Zala). Neither one of them is in on his plans. , ANaziByAnyOtherName Muruta Azrael, has his own Dragon in General Staff Captain William Sutherland, who doubles as TheEvilGenius and TheStrategist.
** In Gundam SEED Destiny, Neo Roanoke is TheDragon to Lord Djibril, while Rey Za Burrel is TheDragon to Chairman Gilbert Durandal. [[spoiler:By the time the final battle rolls around, Shinn Asuka is firmly Durandal's pawn, making him CoDragons with Rey (or if you prefer, Shinn simply being TheBrute).]]
** In Gundam 00, Ali Al-Saachez is both the Dragon and SixthRanger to BigBad Ribbons Almark. Regene Regetta is set up to be another one and a mote traditional Dragon (albeit a non-combatant), .
** Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans: Rustal Elion has Vidar and to a lesser extent Julieta Juris, both of whom are the top mobile suit pilots in his fleet, though Vidar is much more of a key player in his plans. Iok Kujan could be seen as Rustal's Dragon in the political sense, though his hot-headed personality and lack of tactical expertise make him more fitted to be TheBrute. And if one chooses to view [=McGillis=] Fareed as an AntiVillain rather than an AntiHero, then in an odd way our protagonists (Mikazuki Augus and Orga Itsuka) could be seen as this to him after they sign onto his plan to launch a coup against Gjallarhorn in exchange for being granted sovereignty over Mars.
* Fuuron to Hakuron in Manga/HaouAiren.
* The Captain to the Major in Manga/Hellsing. He acts as the Major's bodyguard and, if his name is also his actual rank, then he's the nominal second-in-command in the Millennium Organization's hierarchy. For bonus points, he's the penultimate foe Seras faces and the one she has to get past to confront the Major.
* Manga/HonooNoAlpenRose: Renaud Dubois carries out all of Gourmant's commands without question, from hunting down Jeudi so she can be his wife, and attaching multiple bombs to the train carrying her and Lundi. He's deeply cares about Gourmant and expresses fear for his life since Jeudi is involved with the anti-Nazi resistance movement.
* It's not uncommon for racing teams in Manga/InitialD to send out certain members to race instead of their leader:
** Keisuke Takahashi and Kenta Nakamura, of the Red Suns, both race Takumi before their leader, Ryosuke Takahashi, does.
** Seiji Iwaki seems to do most of the racing for Team Emperor; Sudo, their leader, only comes out to race their fiercest opponents.
* All of the Big Bads of Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure have one of these:
** Phantom Blood: Wang Chan serves as this to Dio Brando, being his first and last minion.
** Battle Tendency: Wammu and Esidisi serve as CoDragons to AGodAmI Kars .
** Stardust Crusaders: Enya Geil serves as this to DIO. [[spoiler:That is, until DIO has her killed to make sure she doesn't give away his secrets]]. Afterwards, Vanilla Ice becomes the closest person to this role.
** Diamond is Unbreakable: Yoshihiro Kira serves as this to his son, Yoshikage Kira.
** Golden Wind: Vinegar Doppio serves as this to the boss of Passione. However, he's a bit of an interesting case, as while he is the boss' most trusted underling, Doppio himself is relatively harmless, and the rest of Passione isn't even aware of his existence, and to top it all off, [[spoiler:he technically is Diavolo]].
** Stone Ocean: Miumiu is this to Enrico Pucci, as while she's only fought around the Part's midway point, it's her ability that grants Pucci the power he has over the prison.
** Steel Ball Run: While he only appears as the White House's head of security, Mike O. serves as this to Funny Valentine.
** JoJolion: [[spoiler:Satoru Akefu]] serves as this to [[spoiler:Toru]]. Similar to , this is an interesting case, as [[spoiler:Satoru is actually Toru's Stand, Humanshifting Wonder of U. Unlike most Stands, however, Wonder of U is fully sentient and capable of acting on its own without Toru's input, meaning they're still able to serve the role in spite of technically being just a part of Toru]].
* Figuring out who TheDragon is can be a pain in the manga series Manga/KagerouNostalgia. There's CoDragons Rikimaru and Ranmaru who serve as Gessho's bodyguards, as well as BastardUnderstudy Kuroda who's his NumberTwo and public face. Even Goki could lay a claim on Dragon status.
* Cassius from Manga/KimbaTheWhiteLion is this towards Claw. He doubles as an EvilGenius.
* Manga/Kinnikuman has several official Dragons and several de-facto ones. The Throne arc upped the ante by having the six teams having their own Dragons in the form of second-in-commands.
** Kinnikuman Team: Initially Terryman, then Robin Mask took his place
** Flight Team: King 100 Ton
** Strength Team: Cannonballer
** Technique Team: Parthenon
** Brutality Team: Buffaloman
** Intelligence Team: Mammothman, demoted by the Omegaman during the finals.
* Kichikujima:Kaoru to his father Yoshikazu.
* Manga/KurokosBasketball: Extra Game (or Last Game, which is the name of the movie adaptation) has Jason Silver as the second best player of Team Jabberwock and he's the only other important member of the team next to Nash Gold Jr. Silver's personality matches more of TheBrute, but since only he and Nash have any form of prominence and relevance, he's this by default. While their three teammates are also talented players, they CantCatchUp with Nash and Silver at all.
* Manga/Lady: Mary assists her cruel mother in trying to get rid of her almost step-sister Lynn and is irked at not being the sole child of the house (apart from Thomas). With Sarah out of the way, Lynn is the prime target for her bullying and harassment.
* While TheEmpire in Literature/LegendOfTheGalacticHeroes is not necessarily evil, Seigfried Kircheis fits this trope rather well to Reinhard's BigBad.
* In Manga/Legendz, Ranshiin is TheDragon of the local EldritchAbomination. He also happens to be a dragon.
* Fate Testarossa in the first season of Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha is TheDragon to her mother, MadScientist Precia. Her status as TheWoobie, LoveMartyr, and MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter didn't stop her from being a formidable threat.
** Signum from A's hits most of the benchmarks for a common variant: Leader of the BigBad's personal forces, check. Stoic swordswoman demonstrating as much honor as her duties permit, check. Considerably more fearsome close-quarters combatant than the BigBad, check. Personally commanding the hunt for the energies needed to grant her master Ultimate Power via an ArtifactOfDoom, check. Doing so in secret from her master (who in fact explicitly ordered her not to do this) in a desperate effort to save said crippled nine year old orphan's life, che- wait, what?
** Following that is Tre who has a dragon of her own aka Sette. Both were fanatical to Doctor Scaglietti. Needlessly to say, their loyalty did not help their popularity very well
*** Quattro in StrikerS. While Uno is technically Jail's "second brain", Quattro has a lot more screen-time, is loyal to Jail Scaglietti until the end and also has the most notable defeat of all the Numbers. Well, it can be said that Quattro, Uno and Tre (the strongest Number) are CoDragons to Scaglietti.
* The anime adaptation of Manga/MagicKnightRayearth adds Inouva to the cast of villains. He has the title of "Vice Commander" and often gives instruction or admonishment to the other minions in place of Zagato.
* Anime/MazingerZ and Anime/ShinMazinger: Baron Ashura was BigBad Dr. Hell's first and best known Dragon. (He was the only one in the Anime/Mazinkaiser OAV series) Later Dragons were Count Brocken, Viscount Pygman and Archduke Gorgon. Usually, Hell's Dragons were severely incompetent... or too competent to his liking.
** Anime/GreatMazinger: The Great General of Darkness was the first Dragon of The Emperor of Darkness. he was replaced with the Grand Marshall of Hell who is none other than a resurrected Dr. Hell now as a gigantic cyborg.
** Anime/UFORoboGrendizer: Great King Vega had several Dragons throughout the series, but the main ones were Commander Blackie , General/Lady Gandal and Science Minister Zuril.
* PsychoForHire Roberto in Manga/Monster is Johan Liebert's dragon and BattleButler.
* In Anime/MonsterRancher, the EvilOverlord Moo had General Durahan as his Dragon.
* Manga/MyHeroAcademia:
** Tomura Shigaraki, the overall villain of the series' is this for All For One until his capture in the Hideout Raid arc, where he graduates to BigBad status. [[spoiler:He's back to Dragon status after All For One returns to the story by hijacking his body.]]
** Shigaraki had his own Dragons as well. Initially, it was Kurogiri, then he picked up Dabi once the League of Villains acquired a more concrete roster. After Kurogiri was captured, Dabi became Shigaraki's full-time Dragon for the rest of the story.
* Manga/Naruto:
** Zabuza serves as Gato's chief muscle in the first arc.
** Kabuto is by far Orochimaru's most trusted subordinate, serving as both his chief spy and research assistant.
** Pain is the Akatsuki's most powerful member and the one who gives orders to everyone else, but he's ultimately doing the bidding of Tobi, the Akatsuki's true leader.
** Kisame becomes one to Tobi after Pain’s defeat and replaces him, seeing how he’s one of the few members that know the Akatsuki’s true goal.
** [[spoiler:Tobi (aka Obito Uchiha)]] himself turns out to have actually been carrying out the plans of
** Pain may be the face of the Akatsuki, but Tobi's most trusted subordinate is actually Zetsu, the one member of the Akatsuki who knows his real plans and [[spoiler:a fellow Dragon to Madara Uchiha]]. To go even deeper, [[spoiler:Black Zetsu turns out to have been working for Kaguya Otsutsuki the whole time, having been doing her bidding for countless millennia]].
* Fate Averruncus of Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi was once the Dragon of the Mage of Beginnings, the BigBad during the time of Ala Rubia. Though with his boss out of the count, he has now taken the role of BigBad.
* Gendo Ikari of Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion is arguably this to SEELE and Keel Lorenz. He's only working with them out of convenience, and he betrays them once his plans no longer coincide with theirs, which makes him a DragonWithAnAgenda.
* Chloe in Anime/Noir to her mother figure/boss Mistress Altena, as the one who stalks the title duo and reports their progress to Altena, as well as enforcing her will within Les Soldats; whether this was part of Altena's plan is hotly debated among fans.
** In Anime/Madlax, Carrossea Doon is the right-hand man to Enfante's leader Friday Monday, and the one who spies on the heroines on his behalf.
** Anime/ElCazadorDeLaBruja, L.A. and Vanessa are this for Douglas Rosenberg, head of Project Leviathan; the former constantly stalks the heroines with the intent of taking Ellis Yandere for himself, while the latter is his secretary and a high-ranking member of the Witch Coven. Both play the part of DragonWithAnAgenda, as L.A. only cares about Ellis and Vanessa plots to betray Rosenberg.
* Manga/NORA: The Last Chronicle of Devildom uses Fall as the BigBad with Deuce serving as TheDragon.
* Manga/OnePiece has had quite a few Dragons:
** Captain Morgan Arc: Commander Ripper to Captain Morgan, albeit unwillingly.
** Buggy the Clown Arc: Cabaji and Mohji as CoDragons to Buggy.
** Captain Kuro Arc: Jango to Kuro, and Siam and Butchie to Jango.
** Baratie Arc: Gin to Don Krieg.
** Arlong Park Arc: Hatchan to Arlong.

* In Anime/Scryed, Ryuuhou is the Dragon to Martin Jigmarl. Slight subversion in that
** ...At least, that's how it starts out. In the endgame, it turns out to be and .
*** The real kicker? winds up being the one to defeat .

In the manga he/she becomes a [[spoiler: DragonAscendant after Medusa starts acting kindly towards hir.]]
** Given his position in relation to Noah/The Table of Contents, Gopher might end up counting as one. So far he's terribly inefficient.
** Giriko or Mosquito would be TheDragon for Arachne. Giriko was less efficient, at least in the manga.
** Justin Law (after changing sides) and The Clown to Asura.
* Haku of Anime/SpiritedAway is this to Yubaba,
* Anime/StrainStrategicArmoredInfantry: Ralph Werec works under Captain Vivian Medlock; however, he is Sara's personal enemy, and [[spoiler:he does overtake her eventually, then holds her hostage; she does a HeelFaceTurn and suffers for it]].
* In Manga/TokyoGhoul, we have Tatara, the most active second-in-command of the ghoul organisation Aogiri Tree and closest to the One-Eyed Owl, and Noro who serves as a personal bodyguard, both of whom .
* Manga/Toriko: Starjun acts as the Dragon of Midora (the boss of the Bishokukai and the BigBad of the series) and a primary fighter of the Bishokukai as well as the organization's second strongest member after the boss himself.
* Legato Bluesummers to Knives Millions in Manga/Trigun. Oddly, his physical strength is in fact below average, and his primary strength is his mind-control ability.
* Debonair/Kiishim in Manga/TsubasaReservoirChronicle serves as The Dragon during one of the first missions .

** Beatrice also has Ronove, Gaap, Maria, Lucifer, and serving her.
** Later on, Erika Furudo faithfully serves .
* Anime/VoltesV: Prince Heinel is this to Emperor Zambajil, leading the AlienInvasion to Earth on his command. Zambajil actually despises him for being a rival to the throne and sent him to invade the Earth hoping he would die in battle. Throughout the anime, Zambajil constantly abuses and ridicules Heinel, encouraging his court to do so as well.
* Manga/YuGiOh:
** Mr. Crocketts is more like a secretary figure to Pegasus than being an actual threat to Yugi and his friends.
** Rishid acts as his younger step-brother Marik's second-in-command. That is until Rishid falls into a coma and Marik's SplitPersonality kicks in.
** [[spoiler:Noa Kaiba, who appears to be the BigBad of the Virtual World filler arc is actually TheDragon to his father, Gozaburo]].
** Within Noah's QuirkyMinibossSquad, The Big Five, Daimon is TheDragon to BigBad Oshita. He holds all The Big Five's best cards, and unlike most of them, has the makings of a solid competitive duelist. During their 5 on 2 duel against Yugi and Jonouchi, his takeover of The Big Five's strategy is foreshadowed heavily and played as a very bad thing.
** Rafael is this to Dartz. Rafael is also the first character who defeats Atem in a fair duel.
** During the Grand Championship, it turns out that Leon is this to Siegfried and pulls a DragonTheirFeet at the end of the arc.
** Akhenaden, becomes this to Zorc after Zorc is revived. Present day he is a BigBadDuumvirate with Dark Bakura.
* Anime/YuGiOhGX:
** Amnael is this to Kagemaru, being the most successful Seven Stars Assassin. He then turns out to be Daitokuji-sensei, TheStarscream and TokenGoodTeammate.
** Manjoume serves as The Dragon to Saiou in the second season, who brings most of the Obelisk Blue students, including Asuka, to the Society of Light.
** Trueman is this to Darkness in Season 4.
* Anime/YuGiOh5Ds:
** In the first arc, Yaeger is this to Rex Goodwin.
** With Rudger Goodwin being the initial BigBad, Kyosuke Kiryu fills the role as The Dragon, being the PsychoRangers to Yusei.
** The Three Emperors of Yliaster are the CoDragons to Z-One, but they eventually fuse into Aporia, becoming the definitive Dragon to Z-One.
** The Crash Town arc has Lotten as the Dragon to older brother Marco. But Lotten eventually becomes the DragonAscendant after overthrowing his brother.
* Anime/YuGiOhZEXAL:
** Kaito is this to his father Dr. Faker until the near end of the first season.
** Tron's oldest son V is his Dragon.
** Durbe is the right-hand of Nasch.
** Even though Vector is mainly the BigBad of the series, he can be viewed as The Dragon to the GreaterScopeVillain Don Thousand.
* Anime/YuGiOhArcV:
** Yuri is this to Professor Leo Akaba. Yuri is Yuya's EvilCounterpart and is occupied with the mission to capture Yuzu and her other counterparts.
** Sergey serves as this to Jean Michel Roget and he is quite effective.
* Manga/YuYuHakusho:
** Younger Toguro is Tarakane’s Dragon in the Yukina arc.
** Elder Toguro is Younger Toguro’s own Dragon during the Dark Tournament Saga.
** Hagiri and Itsuki are CoDragons to Sensui in the Chapter Black Saga.
* There are plenty of cases in Manga/ZatchBell:
** For starters, you could consider that every single demon is a human's Dragon, or vice versa, depending on who has the brains of the operation.
** There's a classic example in the huge, hulking monstrosity known as Demoruto/Demolt as Zophise's/Zofis's Dragon. Brago even states at one point, "If it's just about power, the power I sense over there is greater than Zofis'."
** One could also say that Faudo is Riou's Dragon, what with him planning to use its power to win the fight for the Demon King while hiding safe and sound inside his brain. However, going off of Mamodo, the best fit would be Zaruchim; out of all the Faudo cultists, he was the only one who was loyal to Riou. Everyone else joined either because they wanted to usurp Faudo's power or because Riou blackmailed them by cursing their partners.
** Clear Note, the biggest BigBad of the series, has Goomu as his Dragon.
