* Harry's final conversation with Cheryl in the Bad and Bad+ endings, and seeing Alessa cry in the corner of a room in Nowhere after knowing what happened to her.
* Everything related to Alessa's short, miserable childhood counts. From the hateful messages [[KidsAreCruel scratched into her desk at school]] to the last conversation we see her have with Dahlia, before HER OWN MOTHER burns her nearly to death.
* The Bad Ending in general. Harry has just been DeadAllAlong.
* When you discover just what the deal is with Lisa. You find her in a storage room, where she reveals that "she's the same as them", which is why she couldn't leave the Otherworld. Afterwards, she is trembling, sobbing, and begging Harry to protect her, and Harry, terrified and knowing not much can be done, pushes her back.
** Then comes her death/mutation scene. Blood starts pouring from her forehead while staggering towards Harry as if to send one final desparate plea for him to save her. Realizing it's too late, Harry has to leave the room, leaving Lisa sobbing inside. Despite what her transformation suggests, her sobbing also [[VocalDissonance still sounds completely human.]]
** [[TheWoobie Lisa in general]]: A good person who went through an almost ''literal'' Hell. The [[SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic song]] accompanying this scene ([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDgjTP8fuz4 "Not Tomorrow"]]) is when most people realized there was more than just horror in the series. Also one of the only times in the whole game where the voice acting isn't pure {{Narm}}.
** The kicker? According to the directors, Lisa's soul is ''still'' trapped in the Otherworld by the time of Silent Hill 3. And it's not clear whether the ending of the third game freed her soul or not.
* The Good ending is bittersweet in that while Harry foiled the Order's plans and essentially saved Alessa/Cheryl's soul and is carrying the union of them both in the baby he's escaping with, he wasn't able to save either Lisa or Cybil. He escapes all alone and looks up at the sky with such confusion and uncertainty when he finally gets away from Silent Hill...
** Even worse when it's revealed in ''VideoGame/SilentHill3'' that Harry was essentially ''afraid'' of the baby he escaped with, not sure if it was Cheryl, Alessa, or some horrific combination of them both. His fear and anguish grew so great that he ''was ready to throttle the baby to death''. The pain the poor dude goes through stretched well beyond this game's ending...
** Even worse than ''that''? The Good ending, whether you think "Good" or "Good +" is canon, does not mean a happy ending. Harry essentially spends the remainder of his life on the run from The Order and even the law when he's forced to kill one of their followers, dragging along the then young Heather/Cheryl and hiding their identities until his gruesome demise at the hands of Claudia's Missionary. Basically, the beginning intro of the game with him lovingly watching over the sleeping Cheryl before the car wreck...that's the happiest the dude is really ever gonna be again...
