* E.V.O. The Search for Eden had a couple of these. One involves talking to the spirits of the ''Styracosaurus'' father and his child, killed by falling meteors (your creature conveniently time-travels to escape this fate).
** And before that, at the aforementioned meteor shower (as seen in the picture), the father and child are being crushed by the meteors, with the father trying to shield his child futilely, is the last scene shown of the Dinosaur era. It also lingers for a full minute.
* At the end of Chapter 4, you fight and kill a male yeti and then his wife. Right after she dies, their child runs by wailing and wanting to know where his parents had gone. This event humiliates Yetis, and one of the child's descendants is met in Chapter 5... and he's pissed. You are specifically reminded of this scene ("Daddy! Mommy!") before the Yeti attacks.
* Near the end of Chapter 5, in the Domain of Ditryma, one Ditryma tells you the sad tale of the Bird-Men.
-->'''The Ditryma:''' "''Please listen to my story. A long time ago, our ancestors built a castle that reached far into the sky. They had tried to reach the universe but were removed by some strange force. That is why we don't have wings.''"
** Heck, one of their sprites involves them ''[[http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/pictures/images/9/99/Ditryma_%26_Mammoth_in_EVO_Search_for_eden_SNES_-_(2008_original_in_nds).png sobbing while looking at the sky.]]''
* The two points above make this one for your character. You're simply a creature trying to survive in the world while guided by Gaia, and while there's many times you're capable of helping and being a real hero, the two above cases [[ButThouMust force you to do things that ultimately have far-reaching consequences across the eras]]. The end of Chapter 4 specifically has Gaia tell you just before traveling to Chapter 5 that this is unfortunately just the harsh reality you must live by. To clarify, you're a living example of "Survival of the fittest" in pretty brutal ways, enough so that sometimes taints your character as a [[VillainProtagonist Villain Protagonist]].
