!!The series in general
* According to the WordOfGod, the Film/AustinPowers series is a parody to all of the British Film/JamesBond-knockoffs in the United Kingdom in the late '60s and early '70s that Mike Myers used to enjoy, though there are plenty of James Bond references as well.
* The films often show female dancers in bikini's and psychedelic artwork over their bodies based on Series/RowanAndMartinsLaughIn.
* Austin's cover identity, that of a ridiculous fashion photographer, is taken from the photographer character from prototypical "swinging '60s London" film Film/BlowUp. His over-the-top "and now I'm spent" photography style is a direct lift from that film.

!!International Man of Mystery
* Dr. Evil himself is an obvious expy of Blofeld, down to the grey jumpsuit, BaldOfEvil, and RightHandCat.
* The scene of Dr. Evil meeting with his lieutenants at a conference table and killing them is reminiscent of the conference in Film/Thunderball, even though that scene only included a single death. The plan to steal a nuclear bomb and hold the world hostage is also a direct reference to Thunderball.
* The opening of the movie, with Austin running in the street, followed by hundreds of screaming fans, is a direct reference to Film/AHardDaysNight. The dance he does towards the end of the opening is taken from Bob Fosse's Film/SweetCharity.
* The whole cryogenic facility scene is largely a parody of the one from Film/DemolitionMan. The curled position Austin emerges in after being unfrozen, in particular, is identical to the one featuring Creator/SylvesterStallone as John Spartan in Demolition Man.
* An obscure audio shout-out: Austin's ringtone is the same as Flint's ringtone in the 1966 superspy parody Film/OurManFlint.
* Alotta Fagina and Random Task's names are both parodies of character names from Film/Goldfinger: Pussy Galore and Odd Job, respectively.
* Austin's line "It's my happening and it freaks me out" is pulled from the bizarro Russ Meyer movie Film/BeyondTheValleyOfTheDolls.
* The deadpan countdown announcer is based on a scientist doing the same thing during the final showdown of Film/DiamondsAreForever.
* The line about how "men come first and women come second" was spoken by Tiger Tanaka in Film/YouOnlyLiveTwice.
* Scott is wearing a Music/KurtCobain t-shirt in his introductory scene.
* Austin taking an incredibly long piss, starting and stopping, interrupting somebody multiple times, is like when Frank Drebin accidentally took a wireless mic into the bathroom in Film/TheNakedGun.
* The "Unnecessarily Slow-Moving Dipping Mechanism" that Dr. Evil tries to kill Austin and Vanessa with is almost certainly referencing the rig that Dr. Kananga used to try and kill Bond and Solitaire with in Film/LiveAndLetDie.
* During the final battle, the song Secret Agent Man plays. This was originally the theme song to Secret Agent.

!!The Spy Who Shagged Me
* There's the shout-out that Austin made to the 1960's James Bond knockoff In Like Flint. While he's watching it, Austin even says "That's my favorite movie!" Years later, a magazine print ad for a DVD re-release of the Flint series gave a shout-out in turn by using that line as a pull quote.
* Franchise/StarWars is frequently referenced in the second film as well.
* The trailer deliberately misled moviegoers into thinking that it was a preview for the then-upcoming Film/ThePhantomMenace. Instead of Palpatine manning the Death Star, though, it's just a chair reveal of Dr. Evil. The following tagline echoes that of Film/TheNakedGun:
--->"If you see only one movie this summer, see--! ...Star Wars.

* "The moon unit will be divided into two divisions: Moon Unit Alpha and Moon Unit Zappa."
* "Anyways, the key to this plan is the giant laser. It was invented by the noted Cambridge physicist, Doctor Parsons. Therefore we shall call it... Music/TheAlanParsonsProject!"
* The music during the intro when Big Boy floats past an astronaut is a parody of the soundtrack to Film/YouOnlyLiveTwice.
* When Dr. Evil is spinning out of control on his chair, he declares that he needs an old priest and a young priest. This is a reference to Film/TheExorcist, where an old and young priest attempt to stop a possessed girl's head from spinning around.
* Austin and Felicity travel to Dr. Evil's lair in a yellow submarine.
* Robin Spitz-Swallows is a reference to Fiona Volpe from Film/Thunderball. Just like Volpe, Powers is dancing with her when an assassin approaches, and he turns the two of them around so she gets the bullet. Unlike Volpe, the assassin doesn't stop with just one bullet.
* The effect of stepping into the TimeMachine looks similar to Series/TheTimeTunnel.
* The VisualInnuendo-filled chess game parodies a scene in Film/TheThomasCrownAffair1968.
* After freeing himself from Felicity's accidental MarshmallowHell, Austin refers to her breasts as "dirty pillows". Margaret White used this term in Film/Carrie1976.
* The scene in which Austin and Felicity emerge from the water onto Dr. Evil's island is a re-enactment of Creator/UrsulaAndress's famous entrance in Dr. No, complete with both Felicity and Austin wearing her famous white bikini, while the music in said scene references the main theme of Film/YouOnlyLiveTwice
!!Austin Powers in Goldmember
* Austin and Dr. Evil knowing each other in their youth homages Silver Age Franchise/Superman and ComicBook/LexLuthor's relationship. When Austin wins the coveted International Man of Mystery award, Dr. Evil vows revenge, just as Lex sought revenge for Clark's heroics constantly upstaging him.
* There's someone in a Charmander costume during the Notzilla scene.
** During that same scene you can see someone dressed like Pikachu in the same frame.
** The entire Notzilla scene is also a parody of the famous tank scene from Film/Goldeneye.
* In order to defeat Goldmember, they have to reverse the polarity.
* The weird way Goldmember elongates the word "gold" when he says "I love gold"? He's imitating the way Music/ShirleyBassey sang the line "He loves gold" in the theme for Film/Goldfinger.
