* Creator/SteveJacksonGames faced this when it became apparent that ''TabletopGame/{{Ogre}} Designer's Edition'' would be later than they expected. But the attitude of most people on their forum is, "It's only late until it ships, but it sucks forever." Meaning they'd rather get the right game late than a bad game on time.
* The first edition of ''TabletopGame/DeltaGreen'', released in 1997, introduced a series of faction that the players could interact with. One of them, the [[TheIlluminati Cult of Transcendence]], was quickly introduced in one paragraph summarazing as an occult secret society manipulating politics in a global scale, and the actual chapters were cut due size constrains and announced to be released instead in the next Delta Green sourcebook (that would become ''Delta Green: Countdown'', released in 1999). The actual Cult of Transcendence sourcebook would only be released in ''2010'' in the ''Targets of Opportunity'' sourcebook.
* A particularly infamous example occured with the ''TabletopGame/{{Exalted}}'' boxset supplement "Dreams of the First Age". Massively hyped up, but continuously received setbacks as production ran into numerous problems. It was delayed a total of 5 months after being pushed back 6 times, sometimes only a day or two before its supposed release. The increasing irritation at the delays--exacerbated by the product's high cost and sharply limited availability--caused something of an explosion in the fanbase.
** The current writing team tend to play a bit fast and loose with release dates in the name of quality. Most notably, Third Edition - originally scheduled for December 2012 - was released to Kickstarter backers in late October of ''2015''.
** The team off-record admitted they gave that estimate, knowing damn well they couldn't meet it, due to company policy. Other things occurred, such as the exit of Plague of Hats from the team due to creative differences, John Morke getting very seriously ill, school and work obligations and a complete redesign of ''[[ArtEvolution the entirety of solar Charms]]'' among other, unknown details. While yes, it might be irritating and disheartening, the team [[WordOfGod has been very frank as to what's been happening with the game]] to the point of giving weekly updates on what's been going on in the OPP forum and (usually) monthly updates, including sneakpeeks at various elements of the system.
* As most zines are labors of love rather than profit, it's not uncommon for them to go years between issues.
* The UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic led to several sets of TabletopGame/YuGiOh being delayed, starting in 2020 and continuing with the odd delay through 2022, thanks to supply chain issues. Usually these delays are minor, but some sets were delayed for months, like Legendary Duelists: Synchro Storm releasing outside of Asia in October 2021 instead of July of that year.
