''Chronicles of the Gods'' is a series of [[PlayByPostGames Play-By-Post]] [=RPGs=] originally created by [[{{Tropers/Locoman}} Locoman]]. Beginning in October 2010, the [[{{Roleplay/AGameOfGods}} first installment in the series]] began as a [[{{ExcusePlot}} relatively simple story about]] a [[PowersThatBe mysterious, seemingly-omnipotent group known as the Nomads]] searching for competitors to take part in their challenges and battles. However, many of the Nomads had secrets and agendas of their own, and before long the game evolved into an epic saga that spanned across the multiverse, as the Challengers were forced to confront their captors and fight for their freedom. Before long, a sister series -- a villain-exclusive game known as ''[[{{Roleplay/TwilightOfTheGods}} Twilight of the Gods]]'' -- was created. In summer 2011, a direct sequel to the original ''[=AGoG=]'', ''[[{{Roleplay/AGameOfGodsInfinities}} A Game of Gods: Infinities]]'', was launched, which in turn spawned two concurrent spinoffs -- ''[[{{Roleplay/AGameOfGodsTaskforceSifuri}} A Game of Gods: Taskforce Sifuri]]'', which has a MagicVersusScience theme, and ''[[{{Roleplay/EclipseOfTheGods}} Eclipse of the Gods]]'', which is another VillainEpisode.

In summer 2016, Season Three was opened, which consisted of three games: ''Renaissance'' (with a cast made up entirely of AlternateUniverse characters), ''Terminus'' (the more straightforward adventure of the three) and ''Nemesis'' (a heroes versus villains story in the middle of a RealityTV show). ''Nemesis'' was later replaced with ''Pandemonium'' (also set in a reality show, but without the heroes vs. villains aspect). ''Pandemonium'' in turn was replaced by ''Frontiers'' (set in a sandbox universe akin to ''Roleplay/TheMassiveMultiFandomRPG''), and ''Terminus'' was replaced by ''Exemplar'' (a superhero media-inspired setting where characters were re-tooled into superheroes and supervillains). Each of the Season Three games continued for a time and then gradually ground to a halt, the last being ''Frontiers'', which ended inconclusively in January of 2022.

In August of 2022, ''Frontiers'' was rebooted as ''A Game of Gods Season Four: Frontiers''. Its premise was similar, but distinct in that in addition to individual characters, players could sign up as pieces of land, sea, and sky taken from various universes across the multiverse, areas referred to simply as "territories". In October of 2022, the decision was made to merge with the flagging ''[[Roleplay/Battleworld2 Battleworld 2.0]]'', a RP with a similar premise but dwindling playerbase and activity. The majority of the "Chunks" (territories) of ''Battleworld 2.0'' that remained were ported into the thread and world of ''AGOG S4: Frontiers'', as were some of the remaining "Chunkless Groups" (or factions of free agents), and the decision was made to allow players to sign up as not only single free agent characters, but small faction groups of up to eight characters each.

!!The ''Chronicles Of The Gods'' series contains examples of:
* CerebusSyndrome: Very much so. Although it began as a rather light and silly crossover RP, things got dark very quickly. Infinities took it up to eleven, and it's probably one of the darker [=RPs=] on the fora.
%%* FollowTheLeader: Initially, ''A Game of Gods'' was very similar to other crossover [=RPs=] such as RolePlay/TheMassiveMultiFandomRPG and RolePlay/WeAreOurAvatars; but since then the rest of the series has taken on its own tone and style, and even spawned several imitators of its own.
%%* MegaCrossover: For the most part.
* OrphanedSeries: ''Nemesis'' eventually folded after a few in-game challenges, in part due to lack of player interest. Its replacement, ''Pandemonium'', fared even worse, fizzling out before the first challenge was even completed.
%%* PowersThatBe:
%%** The Celestials.
%%** Before that, The Nomads.
* SuperiorSpecies: {{Subverted|Trope}} -- while the Celestials and their descendants are infinitely more powerful than any of the Challengers, they can also be deceitful, bigoted, and bloody-minded should the situation call for it.
