Henry Johnson and his employer, Zack Slade, do away with the head of UsefulNotes/{{Houston}}'s Museum of Archeology. Johnson then poses as their victim and meets with West in preparation for an expedition to recover the lost treasure of Montezuma. Upon arriving in Eagle’s Pass, West encounters the group's Mexican representative, Colonel Sanchez, who is not at all happy that the U. S. has become involved. After finding a guide - Gordon, in disguise - the group sets off and, in spite of in-fighting and attacks from mysterious assailants, manages to reach its destination. Then the trouble ''really'' begins.

!!Tropes present in this episode:
* TheAlcoholic: When Professor Johnson gets nervous, he goes for a bottle. Turns out he's an ex-archeologist who went to drink and then got picked up by Slade.
* CampCook: Artie (in his disguise as an old desert rat) assumes this role. Fortunately for everyone else, his cooking is excellent.
* CharacterShilling: Jim and Artie spend quite a bit of time telling each other what a total badass Colonel Sanchez is. Too bad the Colonel ends up getting his butt handed to him by the bad guys every time he tries to wade into a fight and he spends the climax of the episode knocked cold in a prison cell.
* ChekhovsLecture: Professor Johnson telling West about the mask of the sun goddess. Jim plays on this old legend at episode's end in order to placate his captors.
* GodGuise: The Aztecs become convinced that Jim and Artie are evil gods after they survive a particularly nasty DeathTrap.
* LostWorld: Jim and Artie lead an expedition to one.
* OrphanedPunchline: We meet Artie in his first disguise just as he finishes telling a joke to a group of customers in a saloon.
* SexFaceTurn: Jim convinces the Aztec "sun goddess" that he and Artie are the good guys by making out with her.
* {{Toilet Humour}}: Artie refers to an Aztec DeathTrap as "Montezuma's revenge."
