While in UsefulNotes/{{Mexico}}, West and Gordon are witnesses to an assassination attempt against President Juarez. The sniper, who is dressed as a priest, escapes, but his accomplice, disguised as a Mexican peasant, is killed and the agents identify him as Halvorsen (Conlan Carter), an American killer. Martial law is declared and already shaky diplomatic relations between Mexico and the U. S. become further strained; the agents set themselves to finding the assassin and defusing the situation, hoping against hope that their actions won't just end up making things worse.

!!Tropes present in this episode:
* BadHabits: Halvorsen disguises himself as a priest to slip past guards. Later, Artie does the same thing while busting the assassin out of jail.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Colonel Barbossa's specialty. He's especially good at getting information from uncooperative prisoners.
* ColonelBadass: Two of them: Colonel Arsenio Barbossa (Creator/RobertLoggia) and Colonel Lupita Quesada (Nina Roman).
* ConspicuouslyPublicAssassination: Attempted against the President of Mexico. Fortunately, the assassin is a terrible shot.
* GreatEscape: Jim and Artie have to bust Halvorsen out of prison so he'll tell them who hired him.
* HeroAntagonist: Colonel Lupita Quesada of the Mexican Secret Service.
* KissKissSlap: West dodges the Mexican authorities by barging into a woman's home and "pretending" to make out with her when the police show up. She pays him back with a slap. The woman [[ContrivedCoincidence turns out to be]] Colonel Quesada; in the epilogue, she kisses and slaps Artie (at his request, more or less) as a BrickJoke.
* MexicanStandoff: Happens when Quesada gets the drop on Jim, only to learn that Artie is holding a gun on her. She calls it "a Yankee standoff".
* MockGuffin: West & Gordon are competing with Quesada and her men to find a letter that everyone hopes will identify Halvorsen's boss, and they even [[MacGuffinMelee fight over it]]. However, when West finally locates the letter, it has no useful information.
* MoleInCharge: Colonel Barbossa is behind the assassination plot.
* RightHandVersusLeftHand: Artie and Jim race to solve an assassination attempt before the Mexican authorities can and, in the process, nearly allow the mastermind behind the plot to get away.
* WeWillMeetAgain: When Halverson is kicked out of his hideout by Perrico Mendoza (Nate Esformes), an accomplice who gets cold feet, he warns Mendoza that "If I get out of this alive, I'm comin' back for you."
