One of the most influential animated cartoons of all time. Ren and Stimpy, by Creator/JohnKricfalusi, ran from 1991 to 1995 (with the last episode pairing instead shown on MTV in 1996), for 52 half-hours over five seasons.

John K. was fired, mostly for [[ScheduleSlip Schedule Slips]] and fights with censors in 1992. A new animation studio, Nick's in-house Games Animations, with ex-Kricfalusi associate Bob Camp as creative director, would take over production for the rest of the run.

A decade later, in 2002, Kricfalusi was hired by Spike (then known as TNN) to produce a new version for Creator/SpikeTV: "Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon". Controversial among fans of the original show, this newer version would only last six episodes, with only three of those actually airing on television (Man's Best Friend, an episode originally produced for the old show in 1992, was banned and aired as a part of the Adult Party Cartoon run). The first three episodes aired on television in the summer of 2003, and the remaining three episodes were released onto "The Lost Episodes" DVD set (with the three that already aired) three years later, in 2006.
