Batman finds himself going up against pyromaniacal ex-pyrotechnician Garfield Lynns when Lynns begins targeting his rock star ex-girlfriend Cassidy, taking up the supervillain mantle of Firefly in the process.
----
!!Tropes:

* AssholeVictim: Cassidy. While Lynns is a classic StalkerWithACrush, his complaint that Cassidy is a master manipulator who used him toward her own ends has some merit. When Cassidy is alone with Batman, she plays the DamselInDistress and offers SexForServices if he'll protect her. When he leaves in the midst of her "I'm too scared to be alone..." speech, her facade instantly drops and she calls him a creep. As a result, her getting pyrophobia is sympathetic, but [[LaserGuidedKarma not entirely undeserved]].
* BittersweetEnding: Batman stops Firefly and saves Cassidy from being killed, but she's left with crippling pyrophobia as a result.
* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Cassidy and Lynns have this dynamic, being what happens when a unstoppable force meets an immovable object. On one hand, Cassidy isn't far off to say Lynn's problem is [[StalkerWithACrush he doesn't know when it's over]]. On the other hand, he doesn't sugar-coat that she basically brushed him off to [[ReallyGetsAround pursue other fish]], burning every guy unlucky enough to fall for her.
* CompanyCrossReferences: At one point, Bruce asks Barbara what she's doing that night, to which she replies, [[WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain "The same thing we do every night, Pinky."]] Bruce doesn't get it.
* ConvectionSchmonvection: When Lynn tries to kill Cassidy by overloading her pyrotechnics, she ends up surrounded by flames so hot and large that they destroy the entire stage, yet she doesn't suffer a scratch so long as they don't physically touch her.
* DontTouchItYouIdiot: While investigating Firefly's hideout, Batgirl tries flipping the lights on. Batman notices all too late that it triggers a DeathTrap, and seconds later, the whole building is going up in smoke. Not a proud night for Batgirl.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: Played with. In the ending, Cassidy's manager makes all sorts of suggestions for fire-related gimmicks for her new tour, in order to ride on the publicity of her experience with Firefly. What he doesn't realize is, Cassidy has developed a crippling fear of fire because of her run-in with Firefly, and it would only serve to worsen her trauma. The played-with part is, this is basically self-inflicted on Cassidy's part, as she was too proud at the time to admit to her manager that despite being a "survivor", she did ''not'' come out of the experience mentally unscathed.
* ItsGoingDown: Major parts of the episode take place in flaming buildings.
* LittleBlackDress: Bruce Wayne's date wears one. Also Cassidy at one point, complete with black opera gloves.
* NotSoAboveItAll: PlayedForDrama. At the end, Cassidy seems to have brushed off her encounter with Firefly, remarking that she's a "survivor" to her manager during dinner at a restaurant. However, when she freezes in terror after seeing a nearby ''flambé'', it's pretty clear that she's deeply traumatized and suffering from pyrophobia as a result.
* PlayingWithFire: Natch.
* PoweredArmor: As shown in the above image, this episode marks the first and only appearance of the fire-proof Batsuit, which Batman uses for added durability against Firefly's flames.
* StalkerShrine: Garfield Lynns, aka Firefly, has a pretty extensive one regarding Cassidy.
* TemptingFate: By the end of the story, Cassidy tells her manager she's tough enough to brush-off her experience with Firefly, as she's a survivor. Not seconds later, her mettle is tested when she's startled by a nearby ''flambé'', all the while [[ColdTurkeysEverywhere her manager makes suggestion for fire-themed gimmicks]] for her tour. And judging by her [[TraumaButton freezing up]] at it all, her mettle isn't nearly as fire-proof as she claimed.
* ToughRoom: Cassidy jokes that Firefly "carries a [[{{Pun}} torch]] for her," only to be met with an unimpressed glare from Batman.
