After mustering enough courage to call a girl for a second date, George repeatedly gets her answering machine then blurts out a nasty message. Regretting it later, he talks Jerry into helping get rid of the message before it can be heard.

!!Tropes:
* EmbarrassingVoicemail / IrrevocableMessage: The main plot of the episode is George leaving an awkward message on his girlfriend's machine while she's out of town, regretting said message, and enlisting Jerry to help him switch out the tapes before she can hear it.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The episode is, in many ways, this for Jerry. It's the first time we see Jerry having an ugly debate over something trivial (in this case, a Dockers TV commercial), a trait that would be a RunningGag in the series, where Jerry finds the most petty reasons to break up with his girlfriend-of-the-week.
* EuphemismBuster: After a date, George's girlfriend, Carol, asks him if he wants to come up to her apartment for coffee. George replied, "I can't drink coffee late at night, it keeps me up." The date ends, and only later does George realize she was alluding to sex:
-->"She invites me up at twelve o'clock at night for coffee and I don't go up. 'No, thank you, I don't want coffee. It keeps me up. Too late for me to drink coffee.' I said this to her. People this stupid shouldn't be allowed to live."
* NobodyCallsMeChicken: George calls Jerry a "wuss", prompting Jerry to reply, "Did you call me a wuss??" and agree to his plan.
* RearWindowInvestigation: George attempts to sneak into Carol's living room, using Jerry as a decoy, and change the cassette before she hears it. She reveals later that she had had a friend play her the messages and took George's tirade as a dry joke, their successful effort to switch tapes [[AllForNothing a waste of time]].
