* AdaptationExpansion: As the meeting with Aokiji takes places after the Davy Back Fight on the same island as in the manga, the anime changes it up. The Straw Hats meet Aokiji on a nearby island, and instead of helping Tonjit, he helps a group of people who got shipwrecked due to Yokozuna accidentally destroying the ship they were on.
* ChekhovsGunman: The captain-less pirates the Straw Hats come across at the beginning of the ''Davy Back Fight Arc'' arc are the main villains, along with their captain. Their name, the ''Fanged Toad Pirates'', is also revealed.
