->Written by Carlton Cuse and Elizabeth Sarnoff.
->Directed by Stephen Williams.

->'''Locke:''' I'm sorry. Sorry I ever doubted you. Sorry I gave up on my faith in the Island. I messed up. Now our people are captured -- if I'd just listened to you -- if I'd just let you keep pushing the button. I could have gone with them, protected them. I could have saved them.
->'''Eko:''' You can still protect them. You can still save them.
->'''Locke:''' I don't even know where they are.
->'''Eko:''' You will find them. After all, you are a hunter, John.

In flashbacks, Locke picks up a hitchiker named Eddie. He brings Eddie back to a hippie commune that he's been living at. Eventually, Eddie is revealed to be an undercover cop, investigating the commune for growing marijuana. The commune is shut down, and Locke is devastated by Eddie's betrayal.

Locke wakes up in the jungle after the Swan's destruction. He sets up a sweat lodge and drugs himself to speak to the Island. A vision of Boone tells him to save Eko from a polar bear. He and Charlie head into the jungle, and meet Hurley, who fills them in on what happened to Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Hurley finds a naked Desmond, who reassures him that they will get everyone back, as Locke said so in a speech, but Hurley has no idea what he's talking about. Locke and Charlie rescue Eko. Hurley returns to camp and gives everyone the Others' message, but Locke gives a speech telling them that they will get Jack, Kate and Sawyer back. Hurley, hearing the speech, realizes that Desmond has seen the future.

!Tropes in this episode include:
* ActorAllusion: Charlie sarcastically says that he's heard trees are "wonderful conversationalists", referencing Creator/DominicMonaghan's role in ''Film/TheLordOfTheRings'', where his character interacts with the Ents, who are essentially talking trees.
* CallBack:
** When Locke first asks for his help Charlie refuses citing the events of "[[Recap/LostS02E12FireWater Fire + Water]]" where Locke accused him of using drugs and punched him in front of the entire camp.
** The paste Locke eats to kick start his VisionQuest is implied to be the same one he put on Boone's head to make him hallucinate Shannon in danger in "[[{{Recap/LostS01E13HeartsAndMinds}} Hearts and Minds]]".
* {{Commune}}: Locke is a member of a hippie commune in the flashbacks. This commune grows marijuana drugs, has a sweat lodge, and has Locke run guns for them. Locke eventually gets it destroyed when he unwittingly brings in the undercover cop Eddie to the commune.
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: Locke's airport vision foreshadows a number of later events in the series.
** Boone tells Locke that Charlie, Claire and Aaron will be fine "for a while", referencing events later in the season.
** He sees Sayid, Sun and Jin standing in line together, but Boone reassures him that "Sayid's got it." This refers both to their current predicament of being stranded in the Others' territory, and to the events of "[[{{Recap/LostS06E14TheCandidate}} The Candidate]]"
** Hurley appears as an authority figure behind the check-in desk. At the end of the series, Hurley gets a very important job.
* NakedPeopleAreFunny: Hurley finding Desmond naked in the jungle is PlayedForLaughs.
* RememberTheNewGuy: Nikki and Paulo are introduced with zero fanfare and insert themselves into the conversation about what to do about Jack, Kate and Sawyer's capture as if they've been part of the main cast all along. Their proper introduction was featured in a DeletedScene where Claire walks in on them having sex in Jack's tent, which was cut for time.
* VisionQuest: Locke uses a sweat lodge and hallucinogens to communicate with the Island, in the form of Boone, and figure out what to do next.
* WhatTheHellHero: Locke's vision of Boone calls him out for calling him "a sacrifice the Island demanded". Locke is visibly ashamed to have said that.
