The students in Kim's class are assigned into teams to build science projects. Monique finds herself frustrated by Ron's lackadaisical attitude, and resists his plan to slack off and let her do all the work. Kim finds herself in the opposite situation, sidelined by [[InsufferableGenius know-it-all]] partner Justine, who wants to do the project her way without being distracted by any input from Kim.

Meanwhile, Dr. Drakken and Shego steal a genetic mutation device, beating out [=DNAmy=]'s attempt to take it for herself. However, Drakken finds it necessary to get [=DNAmy=]'s help to actually use the thing. Working together, the two {{mad scientist}}s unleash a dinosaur-like monster on Middleton.

!! This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
* AnotherDimension: Justine's science project creates a dimensional portal, which is used to get rid of the dinosaur monster.
* BaitAndSwitch: Mr. Barkin says that people can ask to change lab partners if they don’t like the ones they were assigned… He will of course, say no. Part of his curriculum’s central theme of LifeIsntFair.
* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Sick of picking up Ron's slack each year, Kim is happy to be paired up with a genius like Justine, at first. However, Justine proves to be bad in the complete opposite direction, being an InsufferableGenius that belittles Kim's intellect and refuses to let her give any input.
* BecomingTheMask: Drakken's plan was to charm [=DNAmy=] into helping him. He ends up actually developing a crush on her [[RescueRomance after she saves his life.]]
* EvilVersusEvil: Drakken vs. [=DNAmy=] when both of them want to steal the same device. Drakken's victory is short-lived because [=DNAmy=] is the only one who knows how to operate the device.
* GiveGeeksAChance: While Kim and Ron’s romance was the TropeNamer, this episode pulls off a rare gender inverted version. Drakken who is UglyCute manipulates the overweight, geeky Amy by pretending to like her. He is genuinely impressed by her Scientific know-how and ultimately falls for her for real when she saves his life, risking her own. [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]], however, as she likes Monkey Fist more and likes Drakken as a friend.
* GoneHorriblyRight: Drakken insists that [=DNAmy=] gets the DNA of a "nasty" animal to create a clone army to take over the world. They succeed in stealing the DNA of an especially fearsome creature, but it's too powerful and feral to control and it goes on a rampage that nearly kills Drakken.
* HereWeGoAgain: The episode ends on Mr. Barkin accidentally unleashing the dinosaur from Justine's interdimensional teleporter, believing that neither her or Kim could create such a device.
-->'''Mr. Barkin''': Possible!
-->'''Kim''': [[CasualDangerDialogue I'm on it.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Kim attempts to impress Justine by introducing her to high-ranking scientists she's helped in the past only for said scientists to reveal that Justine is actually such a genius that they consider ''her'' a role model rather than the inverse.
* ImagineSpot: At the end of the episode, [=DNAmy=] tells Drakken that she's in love with somebody else, and we see images of Monkey Fist longingly gazing at her picture. Given [[Recap/KimPossibleS3E10GorillaFist what we see later]] about Monkey Fist's [[AbhorrentAdmirer actual]] [[StalkerWithACrush attitude]] toward her, this is apparently a delusional fantasy on her part.
* InsufferableGenius: Justine makes it perfectly clear that Kim should just stay out of her way and let her do the science project ''right''. Kim's attempts at trying to get her to relax or appeal to her don't work. She is clearly smarter than anyone Kim knows. She does mellow out considerably after Kim does a bulk of research to ensure her the device will work to trap the monster.
* JerkassBall: Ron is a ''jerk'' in this episode, even compared to episodes where he receives AcquiredSituationalNarcissism. Here, he rudely refuses to do his half of his and Monique's project and when she tries to get him to put in effort, Ron gloats that Monique has [[TheAce Kim-level academic standards]] and a bad grade will tank her grade average, something that Ron doesn't care about.
* KissingInATree: Shego teases Drakken about his liking for [=DNAmy=]:
-->'''Shego:''' I think you actually like her.\\
'''Drakken:''' Oh, please. I'm an [[ManipulativeBastard evil manipulator]], remember? She's a pawn in my scheme.\\
'''Shego:''' Uh-huh. That... ''(playfully twirls his ponytail)'' and you like her.\\
'''Drakken:''' Do not.\\
'''Shego:''' Do so.\\
'''Drakken:''' [[ArgumentOfContradictions Do not infinity!]]\\
'''Shego:''' ''(singsong)'' Drakken and Amy sittin' in a tree... K-\\
'''Drakken:''' ''Shego!''
* LifeIsntFair: Mr. Barkin wants to put that into his curriculum if a student wants to ask to switch lab partners, and he’ll deny that request.
* LoveTriangle: Dr. Drakken eventually falls in love with [=DNAmy=], but she's in love with Monkey Fist instead.
* OhCrap: Drakken, Shego and [=DNAmy=] when the dinosaur-like creature is unleashed from Amy's lab.
-->'''Drakken:''' What ''is'' that thing?!
* OutOfCharacter: For a majority of the episode, Ron takes firm hold of the JerkassBall, not only being a proud slacker but basically using his ''laissez faire'' attitude as a weapon against Monique, threatening that since she's the only one of them who cares about maintaining her GPA, she's the only one compelled to actually work on the project. This is despite the fact that up to this point, he's been shown willing to at least try when he's partnered with someone, even if he fails.
* TheReveal: [=DNAmy=] is the one who made Monkey Fist's hands and feet more monkey-like.
* ScienceFair: The "basic average girl" plot of the episode. It intersects with the "save the world" plot when Justine's interdimensional teleporter is used to banish the rampaging monster unleashed by the villains.
* SheIsNotMyGirlfriend: [=DNAmy=] initially assumes that Shego is Drakken's girlfriend; he suavely (well, suavely for Drakken) assures her otherwise.
* TerriblePickupLines: Drakken actually succeeds at charming [=DNAmy=] with the line, "Were you injured when you fell from heaven, for surely you must be an angel?".
* VillainTeamUp: Drakken and [=DNAmy=]
