* A story called ''The Cone'', which is about a steel works manager whose disgruntled employee throws him off of a catwalk onto a red hot metal cone on top of a blast furnace. The story then goes on to describe, in the most gruesomely horrific detail imaginable, how the man is roasted to death.

* "The Empire of the Ants", in which the intelligent ants decimate entire villages, seemingly unstoppable. It's all but said that they will eventually conquer the world.
* "The World Set Free" accurately describes nuclear weapons and their effects. In fact, it ''invented'' the concept of nuclear weapons.
