[[caption-width-right:350:The primary 13 members of Super Junior.]]
Initially formed by SM Entertainment in 2005 as a rotational [[UpToEleven twelve]] [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters member]] BoyBand named Super Junior '05, [[MeaningfulRename Super Junior]] is a popular [[KoreanPopMusic Korean boy band]] whose number now ranges between [[PutOnABus eight]] and [[FanonDiscontinuity fifteen]] depending on who you ask.
They're notable for being the first large South Korean idol group, splitting into sub-units (and entering the Chinese popular music industry with one such sub-unit), and making forays into acting and hosting on television programs, concerts, and radio shows. [[FollowTheLeader All of which are now common practices in the South Korean popular music industry.]]
They're also well-known for the ridiculous amount of {{fanservice}} they provide their fans with ([[OlderThanYouThink but that's nothing new]]), and the... enthusiasm and possessiveness of said [[PsychoSupporter fans]]. While Super Junior still plays up the HoYay, their fans have relatively calmed down in later years.

All the members tropes have been moved to the Character page.
----
[[folder:Tropes in general]]
* {{Adorkable}}: They may be serious as the grave one moment and a bunch of goofballs the next.
** Those who have been featured on ''We Got Married'' tend to show this side, especially Leeteuk, who becomes the epitome of this in the show. Despite being the eldest he has no idea how to react to his pretty new wife. Same case with Donghae, who was not actually "married" on the show but was featured with an actress. It was so bad that he had to be helped before ''and'' during their dates.
* AerithAndBob: Eeteuk, Heechul, Han Geng, Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Siwon, Donghae, Ryeowook, Kibum, Kyuhyun, Zhou Mi, and [[OddNameOut Henry]]. While Han Geng and Zhou Mi's names are [[StockForeignName obviously not Korean]], Henry's just sticks out.
* AnimeHair: Especially during [[http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad316/RawwrDudde/Super%20Junior%20Dont%20Don/11b9028291058152200.jpg their]] [[http://i947.photobucket.com/albums/ad316/RawwrDudde/Super%20Junior%20Dont%20Don/11b7ab63e16aa03af608a47a37a35858ba.jpg second]] [[http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o234/demonenvy/Super%20Junior%20Dont%20Don/dontdon_hankyung2.jpg album]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veEh0RYy9t4 promotions]].
* AttentionWhore: Eeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Kangin.
* BigEater: Shindong, but they all can eat a lot.
* {{Bishonen}}: Most if not all of the boys.
* BoyBand: Obviously. One of the biggest too.
* TheBusCameBack: Kangin for the 6th album.
* CatsAreMean: Heechul's cat, Hanjayheebum -- or Heebum for short. Also, his original cat hated everyone but him.
* TheDanza: Sungmin plays the character [[WellDoneSonGuy Sungmin]] in his new drama "President".
** Additionally, in their mini-drama series, the members usually went by their names instead of creating names for the characters.
* DarkerAndEdgier: The MV for their song "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veEh0RYy9t4 Don't Don]]" was essentially this.
** The "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSOSxwEWFA4 Bonamana]]" MV was just a DarkerAndEdgier version of the "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6QA3m58DQw Sorry Sorry]]" MV.
*** Same with [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvTaLTTanJc A-Cha]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6TwzSGYycM Mr. Simple.]]
*** The aesthetic difference between [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWIkiI_UmeE Sexy, Free & Single]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GpJHF0WyAE&feature=relmfu SPY]] might not be noticeable at first, but consider the lyrical content and the bloody special effects in the latter.
* DeadpanSnarker: Kyuhyun has his moments. Heechul as well. Kibum used to be seen as this before he was PutOnABus.
* DistaffCounterpart: Since GirlsGeneration started out as Super Junior's girl version, the guys played with this at the Super Show 2:
** Taeyeon: Leeteuk (both are the leaders)
** Tiffany: Kangin (both talk the most in interviews)
** Jessica: Heechul (Heechul started this at Intimate Note)
** Sunny: Sungmin (Aegyo)
** Hyoyeon: Eunhyuk (the best dancers)
** Yoona: Donghae
** Yuri: Siwon
** Sooyoung: Kyuhyun
** Seohyun: Ryeowook (she's the youngest and Ryeowook is nicknamed "The eternal maknae")
* DrivenToSuicide: Their fans were a factor in a girl's suicide after she took a picture with Kangin.
* DyeHard: They've all done it at some point. Though most of them go for lighter shades of brown, several have been blond or red, and a few even multicoloured.
* {{Earworm}}: Many of their songs are this.
* EmbarrassingNickname: Heechul has nicknamed Siwon "[[TheLionKing Simba]]", Donghae "Disney/{{Pinocchio}}", Kibum Disney/SnowWhite". He calls himself "Disney/{{Cinderella}}", but that's not embarrassing -- just [[DisneyAnimatedCanon theme]] [[ThemeNaming naming]].
** He's extended this to Eunhyuk and Shindong as well. He's labeled them "[[TheLionKing Timon and Pumbaa]]".
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: There are fanboys for a reason.
* EveryoneIsGay: Or as close to gay as anyone can get in [[BuryYourGays South Korea]].
* FanCommunityNickNames: ELF's also have their own groups for each member.
** '''Leeteuk''': Angels
** '''Heechul''': Petals
** '''Hankyung''': Gengfans
** '''Yesung''': Clouds
** '''Kangin''': Camomile
** '''Shindong''': Shinfriends
** '''Sungmin''': [=VitaMIN=]
** '''Eunhyuk''': Jewels
** '''Donghae''': [=ELFish=]
** '''Siwon''': Siwonest
** '''Ryeowook''': Ryeosomnia
** '''Kibum''': Snowers
** '''Kyuhyun''': Gamers
** '''Henry''': Strings
** '''Zhoumi''': Honey
* FanNickname: Every member has one. Special mention goes to Kyuhyun who ridiculously has over [[ReadingsAreOffTheScale FIFTY]] nicknames.
** Kyuhyun actually has infinite nicknames. One needs only to attach "Kyu" to a short word, as in [=TroperKyu=]. The possibilities are practically endless.
* FanService: Why Super Junior is [[GuyOnGuyIsHot so]] [[YaoiFangirl popular]]. They're masters of it.
* {{Flanderization}}: Heechul and Kyuhyun being {{jerkass}}es, Sungmin being a {{Kawaiiko}} who TastesLikeDiabetes, and Donghae being a {{cloudcuckoolander}} amongst other traits.
* FollowTheLeader: The first boy band of its size, the South Korean idol industry has recently taken to churning out similarly large groups.
* FootballFightSong: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCdYAYPjZ4M VICTORY KOREA]] for the [[TheWorldCup 2010 FIFA World Cup]].
* FunWithAcronyms: Super Junior K.R.Y. = Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, Yesung. Additional letters are added sometimes, like K.R.Y.S. (+ Sungmin), K.R.Y.E.D. (+ Eunhyuk and Donghae), and K.R.Y.D. (+ Donghae).
** Also, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything L.S.D.]] = unofficial trio of Leeteuk, Sungmin, and Donghae.
** There's the fanclub too. '''E'''ver'''L'''asting '''F'''riends is more widely known as E.L.F.
* FunWithForeignLanguages: Aside from the [[GratuitousEnglish obvious Engrish abuse]] from their shows like 'Full House', Heechul also had fun teaching Hankyung many Korean swear words.
** Everyone apparently had fun teaching Henry ridiculous pick-up lines.
* FunnyForeigner: Originally [[TokenMinority Hankyung]]. Then [[CanadaEh Henry]] and [[StereotypesOfChinesePeople Zhou Mi]].
* GameShowAppearance: Used to happen quite often when game shows were more popular in Korea. {{Talk show}}s are more popular now.
* GenreRoulette: The core group's six albums so far cover bubblegum pop, ballads of all sorts, contemporary R&B, electropop/synthpop, and an example of their label's own unique style, SMP, which mixes pop, rock and orchestral music. There's also a song on their sixth album that sounds a bit like the lovechild of trot and dubstep.
* GratuitousEnglish: On their show 'Full House'. It used to be more prevalent in their raps, but seems to be on the decline...
** ... until 6jib came along.
* HatesBeingTouched: Subverted. They are always all over each other.
* [[ShesGotLegs He's Got Legs]]: Zhou Mi. They're very skinny, and VERY long.
** Sungmin and Kyuhyun may also count; fans tend to pay special attention to their 'honey thighs'.
** Heechul as Lady Hee Hee. Enough said.
** Let's not forget Leeteuk in Single Ladies.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Eeteuk and Kangin, Heechul and Hankyung, Eunhyuk and Donghae, Kyuhyun and Zhou Mi, etc. Some of these are seen as pure HoYay while others are seen as a case of BloodBrothers.
* [[HeyItsThatGuy Hey, It's That Girl]]:
** [[GirlsGeneration Yoona]] appeared in two [=MVs=], "U" and "Marry U", pre-debut.
** Victoria appeared as the model girl in Super Junior M's "U". She would debut later as the leader of f(x).
** [[GirlsGeneration Jessica]] appeared in Super Junior M's "Super Girl".
* HiddenDepths: Many of the members, with special mention going to Heechul and Kyuhyun.
* HotBlooded: Kangin.
* IdolSinger: Well, all of them.
* [[ChildrenAreInnocent Idols Are Innocent]]: Subverted. Super Junior can actually get pretty wild, with members being outed as [[TheInternetIsForPorn porn]] [[AllMenArePerverts fanatics]], [[FunWithForeignLanguages teaching]] [[FunnyForeigner innocent foreigners]] [[ForeignCussWord curse words]] and pick up lines, [[DrowningMySorrows drinking]], [[SmokingIsCool smoking]], getting into [[BarBrawl bar fights]] and [[DrunkDriver hit-and-runs]]...
* IntelligenceEqualsIsolation: Kibum, according to the fandom. Sometimes Kyuhyun as well.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Heechul, Kangin, and arguably Kyuhyun.
* {{Jerkass}}: Some see members of Super Junior as this for their [[DoubleStandard sexist]] [[ValuesDissonance remarks]].
* KoreanDrama: Several of them have played roles in different dramas. Most popular perhaps is ''Rainbow Romance'', which featured six of the boys in its last season (although only Kibum and Heechul were members of the main cast).
* LandslideElection: Their FIFA World Cup 2010 song: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x443wl5TW4U Victory]] [[http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/poll/_/id/4244/world-cup-inspired-songs Korea]]. Even the official song didn't stand a chance.
* [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters Loads and Loads of Members]]: For a boy band. Once the largest boy band in the world, and largely responsible for the trend of larger pop groups in Korea.
* {{Manchild}}: Donghae, particularly in the early years, though every member has had and still has moments of childishness.
* MeaningfulName: Eeteuk means '[[IJustWantToBeSpecial Special]]', Yesung means 'Art of Voice', Kangin means '[[IJustWantToBeBadAss Strong Man]]', and Shindong means 'ChildProdigy'.
** Subverted as these are all stage names given by their company.
* {{Meganekko}}: Eeteuk in particular used to wear [[InvokedTrope lensless glasses]]. Several of the others have done this as well; Zhou Mi seems particularly fond of them. Yesung's family business, Y Style, has been advertised by the boys on Twitter through pictures of them as Meganekkos.
* MrFanservice: All of them.
* NamesTheSame: Yesung's real name can either be spelt "Kim Jongwoon or "Kim Jongun." Unfortunately, the current dictator of North Korea is also named "Kim Jongun". In 2009, a Swedish tabloid erroneously used Yesung's photo in an article about the then-heir apparent to Kim Jongil and the jokes about it still haven't completely died down.
** There's a Korean comedian also called Lee Hyukjae, Eunhyuk's real name. They made a joke out of it when the two were on the same variety show once, by jokingly snubbing the comedian and pretending all queries towards him are meant for Eunhyuk.
* NoExportForYou: This is pretty much the condition of any place that is not East or Southeast Asia, Australia, or California.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: A majority of the members, but the one who gets called out for it is Yesung who [[MemeticMolester sneaks into the others' bedrooms at night and touches their philtrums because he likes the feel of it]].
** Siwon. He likes exchanging hugs and kisses with the other members so much that he has been hit for it.
* NotAMorningPerson: Eeteuk. Despite being leader, the others mention him as the [[HeavySleeper last and hardest to wake up]].
* OddCouple: Leeteuk and Kangin.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Most of the boys haven't physically aged since their debut in 2005. Especially Leeteuk and Heechul who are almost 30.
* OneOfUs: Aside from the fact that some members are techies and gamers (most notably Kyuhyun), there's their love for Disney and Eunhyuk's interest in manga, particularly ''OnePiece''. Also, there's the occasional reference to 9GAG and memes.
* PetTheDog: When their Chinese member Hankyung was insulted with racist remarks by people outside of their dorms, Heechul and several of the others went out to beat the guys up.
* PrecisionFStrike: While in the middle of a mob of Chinese fans at an airport, Donghae let out a frustrated "Move, fuck!" and was [[HypocriticalFandom immediately attacked for it]].
** An incident in December 2011 during which SM Entertainment's mistreatment of them affected their fans as well pushed some of the boys too far, leading to a series of outbursts on Twitter--including religious, gentlemanly Siwon.
* PromotedFanboy: Kyuhyun, who was the last main member to join.
* PutOnABus: Kibum, for unknown reasons.
** Kangin after his BarBrawl and [[DrunkDriver DUI hit and run]]. He later joined the South Korean military for his two years of mandatory service instead of returning to the group.
* RealMenWearPink: Heechul and Sungmin especially, but all have done so at some point.
* RummageSaleReject: Pretty much everybody in the fifth album concept photos, with Eeteuk being one of the worst.
* ScheduleFanatic: But as one of the top idol groups in South Korea, they don't really have a choice.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Played straight by the Eunhyuk+Donghae and Yesung+Ryeowook pairs when the boys wrote, directed, and starred in their own mini-drama about being YaoiGuys with a TwistEnding.
* [[SirNotAppearinginThisTrailer Sir Not Appearing In This Group]]: Kim Kibum, who has been MIA since late 2009.
* SmokingIsCool: How some fans see some of the members' smoking habits. Others are dismayed because of the potential vocal damage.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Leeteuk/Eeteuk, Hankyung/Han Geng, Yesung/Yehsung, Shiwon/Siwon, Gyuhyun/Kyuhyun.
** Except it's definitely Kyuhyun. The sub-group is called SJ - KRY for a reason...
** YMMV even among the boys themselves. "KRY" was deliberate because of their signature R&B and ballad sound ("cry"). Kyuhyun is [=@GaemGyu=] on Twitter.
* Spotlight Stealing Squad: Yesung-Ryeowook-Kyuhyun for singing, Shindong-Eunhyuk-Donghae for dancing, and Eeteuk-Heechul-Kangin for variety shows.
* StageNames: Eeteuk's real name is Park Jungsu, Yesung's real name is Kim Jongwoon, Kangin's real name is Kim Youngwoon, Eunhyuk's real name is Lee Hyukjae and Shindong's real name is Shin Donghee.
* StalkerWithACrush: Their fanclub.
* StepfordSmiler: Leeteuk (one of the more cheerful, upbeat and talkative members) is an extreme case of Type A. When asked about his life with his parents as a child, Leeteuk revealed while crying that not only was their relationship bad, but they abused him often to the point where he began hating and being afraid of his own father -- yet for the most part, he continues to smile. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AeU7q8tFrI It's very sad and eerie to watch.]]
** He also used to run a club for depressed idols, to back this up a little.
** All of Super Junior and even most idols could be considered a watered down case of this too. Depression is very common within the Kpop scene, although Leeteuk does seem to be a very worrying example of it being a reality.
* {{Talkative Loon}}s: Eeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Kangin. Actually, most of them.
* TookALevelInBadass: How they all appeared in the "Don't Don" MV, especially Kyuhyun who had just recovered from a major accident months prior.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Heechul in regards to Hankyung's Beijing Fried Rice, Sungmin with sweet pumpkins, and Eunhyuk with strawberries.
* TurtlePower: Yesung has three turtles, who are considered his kids.
* UngratefulBastard: How some fans see Hankyung's actions of sueing SM Entertainment, leaving Super Junior, and almost immediately starting up solo activities in his homeland China.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Heechul, Kangin, and sometimes Yesung. Yesung usually ends up the ButtMonkey though.
* VolleyingInsults: Heechul has proven ''very'' good at this.
** Yesung and Kangin's letters to each other. All with love.
* WackyMarriageProposal: Shindong proposed to his not-so-secret girlfriend in the ''Thanks To'' notes for their fourth album. In a number code, that was cracked by fans before it was cracked by any of the other members or his girlfriend. [[TheUnreveal There's been no word on whether she accepted though]].
** Word is that she's accepted, but there's no marriage date set yet. (Shindong has actually asked people to stop asking him about it.)
** Leeteuk dragged his "wife" Kang Sora on-stage to propose at a concert, serenading her while handing her a rose then presenting the ring. Which turned out to be too big. [[ConcertKiss So he hugged her to make up for it]].
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Eunhyuk and Sungmin were supposed to be in an R&B trio with [[DongBangShinKi Xiah Junsu]], but he debuted first. Heechul and Kangin were supposed to debut in a group called ''Four Seasons'' with [[DongBangShinKi U-Know Yunho and Hero Jaejoong]].
** Probably for the best since a group would never have survived both Heechul and Jaejoong together.
* WhenHeSmiles: [[http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v725/nightmare_devil/kyuhyunsmile.png Kyuhyun]] and [[http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v725/nightmare_devil/kibumsmile.jpg Kibum]]. Both are attractive when they aren't smiling, but the fans really love how they look when they're genuinely smiling or laughing.
* WholesomeCrossdresser: Many of the boys have had their turns, although Heechul does it not only for performances and shows but to disguise himself while out on dates.
** Most spectacular example to date: Lady [=HeeHee=], from the boys' Super Show 3 concert series. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyX0KXP57mM Approved by Mother Monster herself.]]
* WithFriendsLikeThese: Again, Heechul, Kangin, and Yesung.

----
[[folder:Attack on the Pin Up Boys movie]]
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: Litterally. Siwon and Ryeowook have telekinesis. Ryeowook is still learning, thought.
* AffectionateParody: Their movie "Attack on the Pin-Up Boys" was a parody of the [[TeenIdol idol]] [[IdolSinger culture]], obsessions with passing fads, and the life of a teenager set in a HighSchoolAU. The second half of the film dips into DeconstructiveParody territory though as it becomes more introspective than the first half.
* AttackBackfire: Turns out the attacks with shit bags made the targets even more popular than before, and that's the reason Siwon, Heechul and Kangin are trying to get attacked as well.
** [[spoiler: After Donghae discovers this and confronts Kibum, he expresses how annoying it turned when the attack backfired, so for the last attack, they make Donghae popular. Donghae later states being famous is annoying as well.]]
* AttentionWhore: Since they all are driven by ItsAllAboutMe motivation, Heechul is the one who exhibits this more than the others.
* TheCutie: First victim Sungmin, to the point where he's covered in St. Valentine's candy just opening his locker and a fangirl gives him a dolfie (And those dolls are EXPENSIVE).
* TheDanza: All the guys get their names to their characters, except for the Panda, of course.
* DawsonCasting: Their roles in their AffectionateParody movie, although not by too much. The worst case was Heechul who was twenty-four at the time.
* DumbMuscle: Kangin's character in their movie.
* FiveManBand: Applies to the five main characters.
** The Hero: Kibum
** The Lancer: Donghae
** The Smart Guy: Siwon
** The Big Guy: Kangin
** The Chick: Heechul
* FreudianTrio: In the two small clubs of the school
** Dance Club:
*** ID: Heechul
*** Ego: Shindong
*** Super Ego: Donghae
** Judo Club:
*** ID: Kangin
*** Ego: Eunhyuk
*** Super Ego: Panda
* LovableJock: Foreign exchange basketball superstar Hankyung is said to be this.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Kibum and Donghae's characters are stablished to be this, for the pleasure of the Kihae fans.
* [[HeyItsThatGuy Hey, It's That Girl]]/RetroactiveRecognition: Yuri from GirlsGeneration has a minor role, prior to her debut.
** In a minor level, blink and you miss it, but Henry also appears as the guy sleeping in class.
** Also SHINee's Key is one of the background dancers.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Why Heechul, Kangin and Siwon try to draw the attacker's attention.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Donghae plays along as a comic foil for the detective main character Kibum. [[spoiler: Donghae is who solves the mystery first]]
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: Invoked by Kibum, who opens the movie with this exposition speech.
* TheRockStar: Yesung and Dark Circle become this after the attack.
* ThoseTwoGuys: Eunhyuk and the panda for the judo club, and Donghae and Shindong for the dance club.
* [[spoiler:UnreliableNarrator]]: Kibum is the Hero investigating the attacker's pattern, [[spoiler: later turns out he was the culprit]].
* VitriolicBestBuds: Kangin and Heechul become this at the end of the movie.
