!!!Her Music Provides the Following Tropes:
* ButNotTooBlack:
** Averted. India.Arie is a dark brown and that has not stood in the way of her success
** The 44th Grammy Awards implies otherwise, According to some of her fans, [[InternetBackdraft but it's probably best not to bring it up]].
* DoingItForTheArt: Testimony Vol. 2,
* EroticEating: At least, metaphorically in "Brown Skin", with the line "It makes me wanna Hershey's Kiss your licorice".
* FollowYourHeart She tends to have at least one song like this one her album.
* IAmSong:
** Her songs "Video" and "I Am Not My Hair", both about subverting beauty norms.
** The latter was really written to cheer up a BaldWoman(Robin Roberts) getting cancer treatment.
* IntercourseWithYou: Not common in her songs, but "Brown Skin" includes the strongly visual line, "I can't tell where yours begins, I can't tell where mine ends"
** And lest we forget, "It makes me wanna Hershey's Kiss your licorice". She must have been horny as all hell when she wrote this.
* ItRunsInTheFamily: singing talent.
* ReincarnationRomance: "The Truth" implies this.
