Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975), also known by his gang name 50 Cent, is a gangsta rap artist known for surviving being shot nine times. That is his entire public persona.

He is associated with DrDre and Music/{{Eminem}}, as well as his posse, G-Unit. He was the face of rap music during much of the Zeroes, and his first two studio albums have sold a combined twenty-one million copies, and has starred in several films and video games, such as ''Get Rich Or Die Tryin''', ''50 Cent: Bulletproof'', and ''VideoGame/FiftyCentBloodOnTheSand''.

[[RossNoble Also works part-time in Ashington as a peat layer.]]

!!Tropes found in his music include:

* ArchEnemy: Unquestionably Ja Rule; 50 Cent has said that they'll probably never be friends. He's also had beefs with the Game, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Music/{{Nas}}, and Rick Ross.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Said on an episode of the Graham Norton show that after being shot nine times, he was praying to God to save him. JimmyCarr, who was also a guest, immediately pointed out the [[FridgeLogic glaring hole in his logic]]:
-->'''Jimmy''': If it was a higher power, why didn't he stop the man from shooting you in the first place?\\
'''50 Cent''': ''(look of legitimate surprise and bewilderment)''
* BigApplesauce: Jamaica, Queens.
* BulletproofVest: His IconicItem. Notably, his clothing line originally came in XXL only, in order to fit over them.
** Saying this, though, 50 Cent refers to his vests as being made out of Teflon rather than Kevlar. Teflon's only used to coat armor-piercing bullets (otherwise, they would wear down the rifling in the barrel much faster than regular bullets); having it on your vest will ''not'' help you.
* ComebackSong: "My Life" with Eminem and AdamLevine from Music/{{Maroon 5}}.
* CursedWithAwesome: His distinctive voice partially resulted from his injuries.
* GloryDays: 2003-2007 were the years 50 Cent was referred as one of the best rappers around. Now people generally consider him to be washed up and overrated.
* HasTwoMommies: He wrote in his autobiography that his mother was lesbian and had a relationship with another woman.
* HeroicBuild
* InDaClub: The {{Trope Namer|s}}.
* IntercourseWithYou: "Candy Shop" and "Amusement Park". "Amusement Park" wasn't as successful because fans realized it was literally [[ItsTheSameNowItSucks the same song]] as "Candy Shop" with the [[UnusualEuphemism metaphor]] changed.
* MadeOfIron: Made a living out of it.
* MeanCharacterNiceActor: People can be taken by surprise when they see that behind Fifty's image as a hardcore, hustling, rapping street gangster, he really is a softspeaking, humble, calm, well-read and intellectual man. Even Robert Greene, the author of ''48 Laws of Power'', admitted that he was surprised by Fifty's "Zen-like calmness" and deep philosophical knowledge when he met him the first time.
* {{Mentors}}: Eminem and (to a lesser extent) Dr. Dre.
** MentorOccupationalHazard: [[Music/RunDMC Jam Master Jay]], potentially murdered in a failed hit on 50 himself.
* MetallicarSyndrome: Aversion: "Gotta Make It to Heaven"
--> In the hood they identify [[NWordPrivileges niggaz]] by they cars / So I switch off bass to stay off the radar
* MurderBallad
* {{Narcissist}}: Not that this isn't the norm for his brand of rap, but you'd think he'd at least come up with a more inventive album cover.
* NonActorVehicle: His film career (with a filmography rivalling that of NicolasCage in recent years) is basically this.
* NotQuiteDead: One would think shooting a guy nine times would finish him off.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: He's one of the richest musicians alive. Most of it isn't through music.
** Does this really count if his endeavors outside of music are highlighted in almost all of his interviews and even some of his music? The very first line of "I Get Money" is about his deal with Vitamin Water.
* ParentalAbandonment: He's never even met his father.
* PlayingWithSyringes: The beginning of the video for "In Da Club" features 50 being designed by scientists in a lab, while Dr. Dre and Music/{{Eminem}} look on approvingly in lab coats.
* RageAgainstTheMentor: Got some of this from the Game, whom 50 kicked out of G-Unit for "disloyalty" at what proved to be the high point of both artists' careers.
** He's also been getting this recently from some of the rest of G-Unit.
* RagsToRiches: He's one of the few musicians that can't be accused of selling out, as his entire thing is this trope.
* RaisedByGrandparents
* ScaryBlackMan: Many rappers are scared to beef with 50 Cent.
* TakeThat: He literally built his career on this trope.
* TurnOfTheMillennium
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Well, it's either that or [[SleevesAreForWimps a bulletproof vest]].
* WebOriginal: a '''lot'''. He really loves to use the Internet for promotion. Some videos that he produces are made to promote other artists and others as {{Take That}}s against other musicians that he dislikes. [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Some of them are really funny.]]
* WolverinePublicity: Although not always for music. That being said his last feature outside of the world of rap was, er, [[Music/PussycatDolls Nicole Scherzinger]].
