David Tanny is a novelty musician who has been in the business for more than ten years. His specialty is "dementia comedy," a style pioneered by artists such as Music/SpikeJones, Music/WeirdAlYankovic, and, of course, Creator/DrDemento, of whom he is a fan. He deals mainly in rap, creating the beats using a cheap MIDI program. He has also dealt in parody (sometimes of other parody songs) joke ads, and sketches.

We are aware of the general consensus on the artist. Please follow the RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment.

!!Associated Tropes:

* BerserkButton: Do not call him incompetent.
* BuxomIsBetter: "Boobs, Boobs, Boobs"
* CloudCuckooLander: Definitely, and it tends to leech into his works, such as the four-part sketch "Watch the Frog", his interpretation of a short-lived image campaign for Creator/TheWB nobody remembers or much less ever cared about.
* CreepyMonotone: He is not one to emote during recordings
* DontLikeDontRead: He does not take criticism all that kindly.
* Pirate Everything's Better With Pirates/LiteralMinded: "Pirate Radio"
* GayCowboy: "I'm A Cowboy"
** Borders on NinjaPirateZombieRobot territory on "Brokeback Mice."
* DullSurprise: Much of his output is done in a droning monotone.
* GreenEyedMonster: Implied on "Oh, Happy Boy"
* InternetToughGuy
* LastSecondWordSwap[=/=]SubvertedRhymeEveryOccasion: Has employed this with varying degrees of success.
* ShaggyFrogStory: He's been known to lapse into these.
* ShoutOut: Most songs by David Tanny contain references to Dr. Demento and various comedy musicians such as Barnes & Barnes, Creator/AllanSherman, Music/WeirdAlYankovic, and Music/TheGreatLukeSki. He even parodies a few comedy songs, from "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" to "Gump" (which were already parodies of Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours" and Music/ThePresidentsOfTheUnitedStatesOfAmerica's "Lump," respectively).
** Overlaps with pun with "Hilary Duff Beer."
* SmallNameBigEgo. As we said, he does not like critics. Also: He once hosted a radio show, but was eventually fired for regularly putting several of his own tracks on the top ten list--and, in at least one case, the #1 position.
* StalkerWithACrush: "Hello, Mila (A Letter to Creator/MilaKunis)" and "I Had Sex With Paris Hilton"
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: Discussed on "What If Your Wife Was A Man."
* UpdatedRerelease: One of the more recent additions to his discography was a reissue of an old album from ten years back... with a laugh track.
* WordSaladTitle: His adult-oriented album "The Outrageous Weasel"
