''Onihime VS'' (also known as ''Phantom Princesses VS'' in S. Korea) is a {{manga}} published in Comic Valkyrie by Dal-Young Lim (author) and Soo-Hyon Lee (artist).

Setsuna's only desire is for his sister to live a happy life. [[IllBoy Weak, frail]], and constantly bullied, Setsuna believes he's nothing but a burden to his sister and decides to take his own life. As he prepares to jump off a bridge, a [[{{Herald}} mysterious man]] [[InterruptedSuicide appears]] and presents him with an [[CallToAdventure unusual offer]]. He offers to purchase Setsuna's life in one year after which Setsuna will die in a manner the man chooses. In exchange, he will give Setsuna's sister 10 million yen at the completion of the contract. Skeptical at first, Setsuna accepts. The next morning, thinking ItWasAllJustADream, Setsuna awakens to find two beautiful women sitting beside him. They are Kanna and Rena, [[EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses Oni princesses]] who have come to protect Setsuna. The middleman just happened to forget to tell him what the catch is; one of them gets to eat his heart in one year.

The official site (in Japanese) is found [[http://www.comic-valkyrie.com/main/contents/onihime.htm HERE]]. It also has sample artwork.

!!''Onihime VS'' has examples of:

* {{Action Girl}}s
* ACupAngst: Hina
* AssholeVictim: The serial rapist that Hina kills to convince that Arima that she is an Oni.
* AttemptedRape: Arima forces herself onto Setsuna in the ''first chapter''. Before that (on the first ''page''), Arima and her cohorts stripped Setsuna outdoors so that Arima could check out his "equipment". Setsuna has such horrible self-esteem that this isn't enough to make him hate her.
** In chapter 15, [[spoiler: as a result of the group date her friends dragged her into, Arima gets paired off with a creepy molester who drugs her drink. Fortunately, Setsuna interrupts while cleaning the hallway outside, distracting the guy long enough for Arima to recover somewhat and drunkenly kick the everloving crap out of him.]]
** Then there's [[spoiler: a [[CurbStompBattle Curb Stomped]] Rena]] in Chapter 20...
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: The Royal Princess of the Oni clan are not only incredibly strong in their human forms,[[spoiler: but their connection to the RoyalBlood allow them to partially transform into actual demonic-oni and greatly increase their power. It is for this reason the idea of the Zombie clan being considerd as equal authority to the Oni clan is completely false.]]
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Arima and Hina may bitch about how they're stuck together, but they ultimately do care very much for each other.
* [[BarehandedBladeBlock Barehanded Blade]] ''[[BreakBlade Break]]'': [[spoiler: Erionelle does this to Rena before giving her a hefty K.O.]]
* BeachEpisode: [[http://www.mangatoshokan.com/read/Onihime-VS/NCIS+SCX-Scans/12/1 This chapter we are at the beach for fanservice?]]
* BigDamnHeroes: Chapter 15. Setsuna is probably the most low-key example of this ever [[spoiler: when he distracts Arima's would-be rapist long enough for Arima to drunkenly beat him down herself.]]
* {{Big Eater}}s: Kanna and Rena. Apparantly, Erionelle may be one as well.
* BlandNameProduct: Amira was looking for a [[NintendoWii Mii]]
* BodyguardCrush: Setsuna and Kanna blush when looking at each other after the Amnesia arc.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: The narration has its moments.
-->[[spoiler:"Could this be the appearance of a third Onihime?! And a [[TokenMiniMoe loli]] even? [[HotBlooded Goddamn!]] This manga's trying too hard!"]]
* BridalCarry: Hina does this to the injured Arima in Chapter 20.
* ButNotTooForeign: Erionelle is Romanian, but of Japanese descent.
* ButtMonkey: Hina's life is made miserable by Rena and Kanna just because of their carelessness...
* CallOnMe: A plot point: whoever Setsuna calls on the most gets to eat his heart, which is why [[RuleOfDrama he can summon both at the same time]].
* CallToAdventure
* ClothingDamage: Very prevelant; should be noted that Arima is the first one to suffer from it, hilariously enough.
* ColourCodedCharacters: Rena has black hair, Kanna has white hair, and Hina has red hair.
** Also, the true forms of the Oni clan are red, while true forms of the Zombie Oni clan are blue.
* ColdBloodedTorture: The Royal Family is known for this when it comes to other demons who are challenge them... [[spoiler: Erionelle learns this the hard way.]]
* CombatStilettos: Kanna.
* CoolBigSis: She is somehow OK with BigEater girls staying at their apartment.
* CurbStompBattle: ...almost ''every'' fight thus far has been one, but points go to [[spoiler: [[DarkIsEdgy Erionelle]] who takes out Rena with just a ''slap''.]]
* CursedWithAwesome: Setsuna's DealWithTheDevil is a case of this since he'd probably be dead in less than a year anyway without a heart transplant. In the meantime, he has greater vitality thanks to the banrikou, the constant companionship of two Oni beauties [[spoiler:[[HereComesANewChallenger a third]] [[TokenMiniMoe Oni]] [[HereComesANewChallenger appears later on]]]], and a fortune for his sister at the end of it all. On the more "cursed" side of things, one of the Oni princesses ''will'' end up eating his heart, and that's if other demons don't get to him first.
** [[spoiler:In the last chapter, Oni Princesses reveal that they never planned to eat his heart to start with, and they care for him to much to see him die. So it's now just "awesome".]]
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Arima
* CuteMute: Rena. [[spoiler:Until the final chapter.]]
* CutShort: Like ''UnbalanceXUnbalance'' before it, ''Onihime VS'' suffered from this as well with no true ending, much to the fans' utter disappointment. WordOfGod ''does'' have an overpacked schedule, after all.
* DeadpanSnarker: Princess Rena. Also makes her a SilentSnarker:
-->Kanna: "Rena, you bitch! You spout nonsense even though you don't dare to speak!"
* DealWithTheDevil: Setsuna agrees to drink a potion and die in a year and in exchange his sister's financial problems solved.
* DemonicPossession: Many lesser youkai that want to eat Setsuna's heart have this annoying tendency to possess hapless people.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler: Kanna in the final chapter of the Amnesia arc]]
* DrivenToSuicide: Setsuna in the first chapter after yet another bout of abuse from Arima and seeing his sister harassed by [[EvilDebtCollector Evil Debt Collectors]] on his account. Then the Middleman [[InterruptedSuicide interrupts him]] and offers the DealWithTheDevil that kicks off the plot.
* DoubleStandardAbuseFemaleOnMale: Averted to hell ([[DealWithTheDevil literally]]) and back, as Arima and her cronies constant Molestation of Setsuna was not played for laughs, and it causes him to be DrivenToSuicide above.
* EasyAmnesia[=/=]IdentityAmnesia: [[spoiler: After Kanna drinks a love potion not designed for use on females, she suffers amnesia as a side effect, even forgetting that she's an oni. Additionally, her personality becomes sweet and gentle, the exact opposite of her usual self.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards[=/=]HonorBeforeReason: Erionelle can be seen as having this, as not only was she not up for [[spoiler: [[SkinshipGrope molesting Rena]]]] at first, but she also decided to not take Setsuna's heart at the last minute as doing so wouldn't make her a worthy, respectable figure amongst other demons. The fact that she outright fell for him, too, didn't hurt, either.
* EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses
* EveryGirlIsCuterWithHairDecs: Suprisingly, [[TheDarkChick Erionelle]] is the only character to exhibit this trope.
* EmotionlessGirl: Both Rena and Erionelle normally; points to the later since [[PeekABangs her eybrows are hidden]].
* {{Expy}}: Kanna and Rena can easily be seen as these for [[Anime/PantyAndStockingWithGarterbelt Panty and Stocking]] respectively, albeit more realistic and toned down (Erionelle can be seen as a bigger {{Expy}} of Stocking then Rena is).
* {{Fanservice}}: Lampshaded constantly.
* ForegoneConclusion: [[spoiler:The last chapter seems to advert this.]]
* GagPenis: According to the local RichBitch, Setsuna is unexpectedly [[UnusualEuphemism "mighty."]]
* HairAntennae: Kanna sports a large one that swoops backwards; thankfully, it doesn't count as IdiotHair.
* HaremNanny: Hina, [[OnlySaneMan so far.]]
* HaremSeries
* {{Herald}}: The Middleman
* HiddenBuxom: Rena.
* HoistByHerOwnPetard: Hina, who ends up falling into the trap she set up for Kanna and Rena.
* HopelessSuitor: Arima. She brings it on herself since her earlier abuse makes it impossible for Setsuna to see her as anything but somebody to be feared and obeyed, not loved.
** Thankfully, they do become friends later on, as he gets a vague idea about how she really feels, but still, as long as she keeps referring to him as her "slave", she doesn't stand a chance in hell with him.
* HotSpringsEpisode
* HotTeacher: Kanna's day job.
* IllBoy: Setsuna. He has a heart condition that will kill him eventually without a heart transplant.
** Ironically, drinking the banrikou seems to have cured him, or at least alleviated his symptoms.
*** But it also made his [[WeirdnessMagnet heart]] super tasty to oni. Poor kid can't catch a break, can he?
* InterruptedSuicide: The Middleman does so for Setsuna, instead offering him a deal to delay it in exchange for some money.
* ItAmusedMe: [[spoiler: It is revealed that this is why the Demon Princesses accepted the Heart Challenge, was so they could have fun in the human world.]]
* KidsAreCruel: When Kana loses her memories she gets picked on by three young boys who dub her titty alien or monster. Setsuns tries to help her with less than [[http://www.mangatoshokan.com/read/Onihime-VS/NCIS+SCX-Scans/8/13 stellar results]]. It takes [[AlwaysABiggerFish Arima]] showing up to drive them off.
** Arima calls out Setsuna on being unable to handle three little kids and he says that he WouldntHurtAChild.
* KissOfLife: Setsuna gives one to Arima after Hina's spell blows up on them. It's this moment that more honorably cements Arima's crush.
* LastNameBasis: [[RichBitch Arima]] prefers this when she's being spoken to.
* LoanShark: Setsuna's sister was in debt because of his medical needs to some and he believed his suicide would solve their troubles. Thankfully Kanna and Rena send them packing when they arrive.
* LoveConfession: In the first chapter Arima confesses to Setsuna in the most messed up way possible. It turned out so badly that it's probably a ''good'' thing that [[spoiler: a DemonicPossession got in the way.]]
* LovePotion: In chapter 7, Arima attempts to use one on Setsuna. [[spoiler: Kanna drinks it instead, making things more complicated than one might expect.]]
* MagneticGirlfriend: So strong, even [[RichBitch Arima]] who bullied him before the [[EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses princesses]] appeared (and not in the comedic sense back then) starts coming after him. See the {{Tsundere}}-entry below.
** To be fair, she liked him before... she's just the type not to show it except by being a complete bitch to him, and the princesses showing up made her see that her current strategy was not working.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: [[spoiler: Arima]] doesn't seem that fazed after [[spoiler: ''getting blasted in the chest with a lazer'']] in Chapter 19.
* MaleGaze: A lot. Especially with [[MsFanservice Rena]].
* {{Meido}}: Princess Rena at her part time job at a MaidCafe.
** And Hina after Arima becomes her master because God hates Hina.
* MeaningfulName: The (fake) surnames of Kanna and Rena, which are Shirayuki and Kuroyuki respectively. "Shira" means "white" and "Kuro" means "black".
* NamedWeapons: Kanna's [[StaffOfAuthority "Golden Staff"]] and Rena's [[DualWielding "Life Spirit" and "Death Spirit"]]
* NewTransferStudent: Erionelle's PaperThinDisguise.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: The fight between [[spoiler: Kanna and Rena in full demon form.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: The princesses, but Hina in particular.
* OnlySaneWoman: Hina, who's only real interest in Setsuna is his heart (to a point).
** OnlySaneEmployee: To Arima.
* OperationJealousy: Arima tries this in chapter 14. Like all of her attempts to win Setsuna's interest, it fails miserably.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent
* {{Otaku}}
* PantyShot
* PaperThinDisguise: [[spoiler:Kanna saw through the Zombie Princess' disguise right away but didn't say anything because she doesn't see her as much of a threat.]]
* ParentalAbandonment
** Setsuna's parents are dead prior to the beginning of the manga. It just increases the [[TheWoobie woobiness]] of Setsuna's already crappy life.
** Arima suffers from this as well, though her parents are still alive they don't spend much time with her.
* PetTheDog: Hina saving a little girl who's mother has been possessed by a demon. The little girl was not getting fed anymore by the time Hina intervened.
* [[{{Fanservice}} Playing To The Fetishes]]: There's a lolita, a maid, a schoolgirl, an older sister, and a teacher. Lampshaded the first time Hina appears, the text says the manga is trying too hard.
* PleaseSpareHimMyLiege: Setsuna begs Kanna to spare [[spoiler:Erionelle after Kanna beats her easily and is about to torture her for challenging a royal princess of the Oni clan]] by saying he felt Kanna was a Good Oni and didn't need to go to such extremes. [[spoiler:It works. Moreover, Erionelle falls for him because of it, wanting to be a Good Oni for him, as well.]]
* ThePowerOfBlood: ....what kept Hina alive after getting HoistByHerOwnPetard.
* PowerTrio[=/=]TheThreeFacesOfEve: The three princesses: Kanna is TheMcCoy, OnlySaneMan Hina is TheKirk and TheSpeechless Rena is TheSpock. As the faces of Eve, Kanna is the Seductress ([[BuxomIsBetter look at]] her) and while they could switch and it would work just as well, Hina is the Wife (because she seems to lack the behavioral WeirdnessCensor everyone else has) and Rena is the Child (has her own thoughts but seems nicer compared to the other two and much more easy-going.)
* PrettyFreeloaders: This is subverted when the princesses realize they eat more then the family can afford and take jobs to help pay for the food.
* RedOniBlueOni: Kanna and Rena. Bonus points for actually being [[{{Youkai}} Onis.]]
** Taken literally with not only the skin color of the Oni and Zombie Oni clans' true forms, but [[spoiler: [[FridgeBrilliance Kanna and Rena's eye color]]]]!
* RichBitch: Arima and she has some unusual [[MixedArchetypes character traits]].
* RousseauWasRight: Setsuna certainly sees the good in many people, [[spoiler:including Kanna, Rena, and Erionelle, as the formers never really cared about eating his heart to begin with, and the later actually wants to cure him of his condition.]]
* RoyalBlood: The Oni royal family has a special one that allows them to tap into a deep power and transform if things get too rough.
* SchoolSwimsuit: Hina wears one for [[{{Fanservice}} no reason]] during the {{beach episode}}.
* ShesGotLegs: Kanna, [[http://mangafox.me/manga/onihime_vs/v02/c005/5.html even as]] ''[[http://mangafox.me/manga/onihime_vs/v02/c005/7.html a kid]]''. You can tell by the way she sits.
* ShoutOut: Erionelle's hair clip is basically a smaller version of [[Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows Elsie's]].
* SelfMadeOrphan: Arima lives alone because she and her parents cannot stand each other.
* SmokingIsCool: Hina, it's also a part of her magic.
* StatuesqueStunner: Kanna and Erionelle.
* ThanksForTheMammary: Kana to Setsuna in the first chapter.
* TheSmartGuy: Hina.
* TheSpeechless: Princess Rena.
* SpitTake: [[http://www.mangatoshokan.com/read/Onihime-VS/NCIS+SCX-Scans/3/31 Setsuna]] when Arima asks him if he has a girl friend.
* TalkingWithSigns: Rena just communicates by writing on her notebook.
* ThoseTwoGirls: Midorizawa and Satou, Arima's GirlPosse.
* TokenMiniMoe: Hina, although she's really of legal age. She is just very... underdeveloped.
* {{Tsundere}} [=AND=] {{Yandere}}: Arima. Alternatively stripping Setsuna, ordering him around, [[KissingUnderTheInfluence outright jumping him]] and refusing to admit to doing anything nice for him. It's kinda creepy.
** So much so, that when she decides to act on her crush in more...reasonable terms, she's already lost.
* VersusTitle
* WaterfallPuke: Happens to Arima in chapter 15.
* WeirdnessMagnet: Setsuna just because he has a heart that demons want to eat.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: It's never explained whatever happened to Wakatsuki from Chapters 2-3, nor the restaurant owner that stopped Erionelle from chasing Setsuna in Chapter 18.
* WhiteGloves: Erionelle wears these.
* {{Youkai}}: The princesses themselves.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have]] [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair Green Hair]]: Arima
* YourDaysAreNumbered: Despite the UnwantedHarem, Setsuna is reminded often of THIS and [[spoiler:his bad heart condition would kill him before age 20 so this was in play BEFORE the deal,]] [[ForegoneConclusion thus this story would have either]] a DownerEnding at worst or a BittersweetEnding at best, making it an InUniverse HarsherInHindsight.
** In the final chapter, [[spoiler:Erionelle averts this by neutralizing the Banrikou. A side effect is that the lifeforce of the Banrikou is transferred into Setsuna's heart, so he is no longer an Ill Boy.]]
* ZettaiRyouiki: ...hell, pretty much every girl in the series sans Setsuna's CoolBigSis. Erionelle takes the cake.
