HeartBurn Kid: Wait, now that we've discussed ChekovsGun, does that mean, by the rule of ChekhovsGun, that it's going to become significant in the near future?

Seth: Whats with this page?

SilentHunter: I'm not entirely sure.

PaulA: It's a redirect to ChekhovsGun created by somebody who should have been in bed hours ago. (G'night, all.)

Ununnilium: Hah hah, awesome.

Seth: I approve

Scrounge: Ironically enough, I think what we have here is a RedHerring.

Sockatume: You MagnificentBastard.

cg12345: Seconded. I think you broke my brain.
----
RuthieA: May I say that, by virtue of being a StarTrek Nerd and a TV Tropes addict, I find this page incredibly amusing.

Doug S. Machina: This amuses me too. Good work.

Random Troper: I love it
----
Cassius335: ConversationInTheMainPage

* Umm, yeah.
** At least it's more practical than the phasers used in The Next Generation
*** Wait, you mean those weren't hand-held vacuum cleaners? Live and learn...

----
Socran: To whomever added the Buffy line... Kudos.

fleb: Seconded. Cutting the other two that have appeared, though.

->**Subverted in Babylon 5, where Chekov's, or rather, Bester's, gun was a Chekhov's gun. Sure enough, he fired it in the third act, and gravely wounded the character of Ironheart.
->* Played straight in an episode of TheSimpsons. Probably.

EgregiousEric: There's a bunch more unrelated ones now. Should they be removed?

----

: It occurs to me that this might actually make a valid trope to describe the unused (or ineffective) weapons in Mexican standoffs and all manner of martial-arts movies.

Grimace: Naah. I like it how it is - I keep misspelling "ChekhovsGun" and stumble upon this page, and it always brings a smile to my face. You may have a valid trope on your hands though.

----

DevilsAdvocate: It would be awesome if someone could find an example of "Gun's Chekov" (or even "Gunn's Chekov") which could be listed as an inversion here.

DevilsAdvocate: Brilliant! All hail Blork!

----

Nerdorama: TVTropes: world's largest intentional irony deposit.
----
OODavo: ChekhovsGun is a ChekhovsGun, right?
----
Master Hand: Brilliant page. A little anecdote from me here: when I first found the Chekhov's Gun page, I didn't notice the spelling and conveniently skipped over most of the trope description, which made me think that there must have been some Star Trek movie or episode I never saw where Chekov's gun ended up being important. I eventually figured everything out when this page was created, but I find it amusing in retrospect.
----
Meshakhad: Upon reading this page, I laughed for two minutes straight.
* Grimace: See this? See this troper right here? He is showing exactly why only crazy boring people keep putting this page on the cutlist. Notice, how Meshakhad has a sense of humour?
----
Inkblot: Why shouldn't this be replaced with a redirect to ChekhovsGun?

MrDeath: Because a lot of people do find it funny; it is in JustForFun, after all. Plus, there doesn't seem to be any discussion about it either here or on the forums. All I could find was from the other Discussion page, which I'll just repost since it's relevant here:

-->CAD: Heck no on the cutlist. Your mileage must vary, because this is one of my favorite pages and I always have a kick out of seeing what's happened to it since last time. (But where the heck are the 100+ wicks coming from, I wonder? Misspellings?)\\
\\
Madrugada: Yes. Misspellings of "Chekhov's Gun". This page is perfectly fine, since it's tagged as JustForFun, and it actually serves as a pointer to the real Chekhov's Gun page. Cutting this page will create a mess of redlinks that no-one will bother to fix.\\
\\
RedViking: This is a JustForFun page and will create over 100 red links if deleted.\\
\\
AnonymousMcCartneyfan: So, the question is, do we maintain the joke, or do we hope that everyone learns to spell Chekhov? (Not easy to remember, especially since both spellings are possible transliterations.) And if we do maintain the joke, do we extend it? We have a lot of Chekhov tropes now, and many of them would work with our friend Pavel. Think of what ChekovMIA would be like!\\
\\
AnonymousMcCartneyfan: Okay, ChekovMIA redirects to ChekhovMIA. This is why we need to keep this page: if we don't, someone will make a direct MisspellingRedirect to ChekhovsGun, and no one will learn how to spell Chekhov.
----
DragonQuestZ: NoJustNo. This should not be cut. It's a fun page. If anything, make it a SugarWiki thing, but leave it here.

CAD: Again with the cutlisting? Why all the hate for such a harmless and funny page?

Madrugada: How many times has this been cutlisted, anyway? Yes, it's a joke page. That's why it's in the JustForFun section.

Oonerspism: This has been put up like three times and it was rejected each time. Can we seriously be done with it now?

----

SomeSortOfTroper: I think that the straight aversion jokes are only really funny if it is truly in the top tiers of TropeOverdosed- that is the Trope Saturated (3,500 wicks or more) and Trope Overloaded (2,000 - 3,499 Wicks) shows.
----
MrDeath: Cut it out, Inkblot. The last time you tried to make it a redirect, the admins stepped in to fix it. Every single time you've cutlisted it, it's been rejected. The clear consensus here on this discussion page is that it should stay as it is. So why do you keep trying to erase it?
