[[BlueSeed http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sweat_drop.jpg]]Confusion, exasperation, embarrassment and similar emotions manifest as an unusually large sweat drop that appears on the temple or the back of the head. Sometimes the "drop sweat" symbol can even apply to a group of people as well. Either a gigantic sweat drop appears somewhere in the middle of the crowd, or a few big drops are scattered around.

Usually limited to comedic anime, but even some serious ones indulge.

TheSweatDrop is also appearing in [[{{Animesque}} anime-influenced American animation]]. For example, characters in ''TotallySpies'' and ''TeenTitans'' evince both sweatdrops and CrossPoppingVeins.

*The above picture comes from the ''BlueSeed'' anime, which has quite a few instances of this trope.
*Occurs frequently in ''FullmetalAlchemist'', often without regard for which way a character is [[http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb161/NGR_album/137.jpg facing]].
*In ''{{Pokemon}}'' this is also what the Cascade Badge looks like.
*Lampshaded in ''TheSlayers''. Lina smacks Gourry over the head with her own sweatdrop for endangering her life without warning her first.
* In [[{{Yotsubato}} ''Yotsuba&!'']], on everyone around Yotsuba herself. A lot.
* ''{{Dragonball}}''.
* Notable in ''YuGiOhGX'' when... the duel academy sign does it. Yes, a piece of wood. And then it does a {{face fault}}.
* Sweat Drops appear regularly in the ''SailorMoon'' anime. The dubbed version sometimes cut them out, but these edits were inconsistent, occasionally even having one instance of it removed and another one left intact within the same episode.
* This pops up in ''MahouSenseiNegima'' on occasion.
* ''{{Harukanaru Toki no Naka de}} - Hachiyoushou'' sometimes employs this for comical scenes. One instance in particular, in the {{OAV}} episode "Kokoro no Yukue", has the drop appear during a SuperDeformed scene at the end of the pictured dot-by-dot VisibleSilence. It then falls to the bottom of the screen. As a solid object.

*The Tonberry summon in ''FinalFantasyVIII'' goes like this:
-->''Tonberry slowly walks towards the enemy''
-->''Enemy sweatdrops''
-->''*DOINK!*''
*In the fighting game Marvel vs. Capcom 2 if you're using Tron Bonnes throw assist and she misses, a message bubble will appear with a sweat drop in it.
* Message bubbles with sweat drops inside them also appear in ''MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga''.
* These also appear in TalesOfSymphonia.
** Or just any games of the TalesSeries for that matter
* ''PokemonMysteryDungeon''.
* In ''BreathOfFire'' III and IV hitting NPCs and a few objects with some characters' on map abilites can make them react in this way.
*''ShadowHearts'' and its sequels do this in little bubbles that appear above a character's head. Others include squiggly lines (for exasperation), ? or ! marks, heart symbols and even internet emoticon-ish faces.

* Used almost constantly in early ''{{Misfile}}'' strips, and although its use has been toned down in recent strips even Rumi's T-shirt can develop one.
* Appears from time to time in ''TheInexplicableAdventuresOfBob.''
* Used [[http://corneralley.comicgenesis.com/d/20040827.html here]] in ''CornerAlley13''.
* Derek, the Anime girl from ''Yahtzee Takes On The World'', can have one. And later, [[spoiler:[[http://yahtzee.comicgenesis.com/d/20011221.html Ludo in Derek's body]]]].
* Apparently the anthro-[=PCs=] in ''QuestionableContent'' have this [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1440 as a feature]] (read the text below the comic).

* Even ''AvatarTheLastAirbender'' has done this once or twice.

* Characters established to be anime fans in ''Gap'' are sometimes given versions of these. Tom's somewhat fluid preferences regarding anime result in him having these only when discussing the subject.
