The example isn't saying that Zack's rescue of Cloud was a ReWrite, it's saying that each adaptation presented the events differently, which is correct (Sephiroth jumped in Last Order and fell in the games; FF7 suggested Zack died immediately before the story started, but Crisis Core implied it was a year between Zack's death and the start of the game, and so on).
