->''Ah! How am I supposed to keep this thing on?!''\\
-- VanVonHunter's sidekick [[http://www.vanvonhunter.com/vvh75.html dressing up as Lulu]].

While AbsoluteCleavage is about revealing most of the breasts from the center, and {{Underboobs}} is about from below, this is about revealing them from above. In other words, an off the shoulder neckline that looks as though it's one deep breath from showing the areola. This sort of outfit will probably be used to house the VictoriasSecretCompartment, even as it weakens the logic of an already... tenuous... trope.

This can be worn in RealLife and live action, but it always involves either a lot of boning [[DoubleEntendre (Get your minds out of the gutter!]] It's a sewing term for stiff plastic or metal strips sewn along the seams to keep the garment from losing its shape. Geez.) or [[ImpracticallyFancyOutfit adhesive]].

[[folder: Anime and Manga ]]

* In ''RurouniKenshin'', Yumi's neckline was already pretty low to begin with, but it kept descending steadily until her kimono was more or less completely off the shoulders.
** This troper will never stop wondering how the hell her kimono even stayed ''on'' when Sanosuke picked her up under one arm like a sack of rice because she was being uncooperative.
* Ogin of ''KyogokuNatsuhikoKosetsuHyakuMonogatari'', when not in disguise, exclusively wears a very low kimono, and like the younger women in the series, has a lot up there.
** Made all the more impressive by Ogin moving around more than most examples of this trope: she frequently shows off her ability to run, crawl, drag people away and even swim without falling out.
* In ''{{xxxHoLic}}'', anything and everything ever worn by Yuuko. Then again, [[AWizardDidIt A Witch Did It]].
* Prome O and Nilval Nephew of HeroicAge. There are some shots where it seems AnimeAnatomy may be the only thing keeping Prome looking even remotely decent...
* [[http://www.onemanga.com/Samurai_Deeper_Kyo/2/48/ Izumo no Okuni]]. Of course, given that [[http://www.onemanga.com/Samurai_Deeper_Kyo/8/14/ she's also seen hovering in midair]] at times, she's probably levitating the kimono to hold it in place.
** As shown in the fifth panel of that scene, one of her gimmicks is nigh-invisible RazorFloss, though I guess a blunt version of that could keep her clothes on (and is probably what allows her to do that "levitation" trick without cutting herself in half).

[[folder: Comic Books ]]

* In ''{{X-Men}}'', the Hellfire Club outfits include bustiers that are like this, worn by Emma Frost, Selene, and Phoenix (and Jean Grey, depending on continuity).
** Speaking of Emma, after she joined the Comicbook/{{X-Men}}, her costume was an unholy cross between this and AbsoluteCleavage due to being a few strategically-placed scraps of clothing that formed a reverse "X" with her exposed skin. No idea how it stayed on.
*** It being the Marvel Universe, it's probably because it's made out of unstable molecules.

[[folder: Film ]]

* Jessica Rabbit from ''WhoFramedRogerRabbit''.
* Belle's yellow ball gown in Disney's ''BeautyAndTheBeast'' looks this way in [[http://larryfire.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/beautybeastdancinglow.jpg some shots]], but higher up in others. Her recent "[[EverythingsSparklyWithJewelry Jeweled]] [[EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses Princess]]" gown seems [[http://joechip.net/liana/uploads/disney-princess-jewels-snow-white-cinderella-belle-sleeping-beauty-kleenex.png like this]] [[http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/tina_als_girl/Wallpapers/AllSix_Jewel_Wallpaper_by_Joy_01.jpg as well]].
** As do [[{{Disney/Aladdin}} Jasmine's]] normal and Jeweled Princess tops.
* Miss Scarlet in TheMovie version of ''Clue''
* ''DeathBecomesHer''. Isabella Rosselini wears some impossibly low neckline dresses in this - to her ''navel''.
* Helena Bonham Carter's [[http://www.flickr.com/photos/avkellyphotos/2179522510/ Mrs. Lovett]] in ''SweeneyTodd''. Like Tim Burton didn't plan this shot out intentionally...

[[folder: Literature ]]

* In the book ''Mrs. 'Arris Goes to Paris'' by Paul Gallico, this off the shoulder dress style is described as simulating the look of a naked woman under a sheet.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Live Action TV ]]

* During the production of ''StarTrekTheOriginalSeries'', costume designer [[TheissTitillationTheory William Ware Theiss]] was given explicit instructions by the network on how far he could go; one such instruction permitted costumes whose décolletage could expose ''anything'' all the way down to the top edge of the areola. Theiss, knowing a good thing when he saw it, followed those guidelines (ahem) explicitly.
* Cynthia Watros in a couple of later episodes of {{Titus}}.
* Some of the costumes on ''TheTudors''.

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Theater ]]

*Magda in ''TanzDerVampire''. How is she supposed to scrub floors in that!?

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Video Games ]]

* Lulu from ''FinalFantasyX'', as seen in the picture. She keeps up her dress with a corsage and belts on the upper arms.
** ''VanVonHunter'' spoofed it in an {{Omake}} strip.
* Amy from ''SoulCalibur IV'' has a very similar neckline.
* The "witch" costume set from ''CityOfHeroes'' is obviously held up with staples and glue, because there's nothing else to keep it on your character's body.
* Rouge from ''SonicTheHedgehog''. Might be justified by the fact a high neckline would be inconvenient for winged characters.
** And, to an (arguably) lesser extent, Marine the Raccoon.
* Morrigan from ''{{Darkstalkers}}'' has such a low-cut outfit that, if she wasn't a HornyDevil, would be a walking wardrobe malfunction.
* Hanne Lichthammer from ''CliveBarkersJericho'' wears an extremely [[FormFittingWardrobe tight-fitting]], S&M-style SS uniform that just ''barely'' manages to contain her - ahem - assets. Considering her horrifically mutilated appearance, though, this is definitely an example of FanDisservice.
* Sumire Kanzaki from ''SakuraTaisen'', when wearing a kimono.
* Jessica from ''DragonQuestVIII'' features a gravity-defying shirt.
* Several of [[BlackMagicianGirl The Sorceress']] outfits in [[{{Gauntlet}} Gauntlet: Dark Legacy]], but better displayed by the Blue Sorceress.
